1 dead, multiple injured in crash on Hwy 65: CHP

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One person is dead and multiple are injured after a crash on Highway 65 Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers with CHP were dispatched to the area of Highway 65 near Minneola Avenue for the report of a two-vehicle crash around 7:23 p.m.
Investigation showed a 2013 Toyota Sienna was driving southbound on Highway 65 at an unknown rate of speed. A 2005 Ford F-350 was pulling a two-axle trailer on southbound Highway 65 in front of the Toyota at an unknown speed.

For reasons unknown, the Toyota entered the northbound lane in front of oncoming traffic, according to the highway patrol. The driver of the Toyota then veered into the southbound lane and the Toyota and Ford collided.
Highway patrol officials said the driver of the Toyota lost control and overturned. The passenger of the vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver in the Toyota and two other passengers were injured and transported to the hospital for moderate to major injuries, according to officials. The driver and passengers in the Ford were not injured.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to CHP.
