Three AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopters From US land In Hindon, Likely To Be Deployed At Western Front

After much delay, three AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopters for the Indian Army arrived at Hindon Airport on Tuesday from the United States. The Indian Army Aviation Corps was waiting for the first slot of three Apache helicopters since 2024, as they were originally planned to be delivered in May 2024. Under a $800 million agreement signed with the United States in February 2020, the Indian Army was slated to receive six Apache AH-64E attack helicopters. AH-64E is one of the world's most advanced helicopters, and its induction into the Indian Army is likely to boost operational capabilities. "Milestone moment for Indian Army as the first batch of Apache helicopters for Army Aviation arrive today in India," the Indian Army posted on X. "These state-of-the-art platforms will bolster the operational capabilities of the Indian Army significantly," it added. As India faces hostilities with Pakistan on the Western front and China at the Northern border, these killer helicopters are intended to play a crucial role in supporting the Army's operations on the Western front. Its arrival on Tuesday assumes significance against the backdrop of Operation Sindoor. These specially designed killer helicopters are equipped with Hellfire missiles, 2.75-inch rockets, and 30 mm chain gun rounds. Because of their power and agility, they are also termed as tanks in the air and can fire 600-650 rounds per minute. It also has a Primary Mission Gross Weight of 15,075 lb (6,838 kg), Maximum Operating Weight 23,000 lb (10,432 kg), Maximum Rate of Climb 2,800+ ft (853+ m) per minute, and a maximum Level Flight Speed of 150+ knots (279+ kph). It is designed and equipped with the latest communications, navigation, sensors, and weapon systems. In March 2024, the Army's Aviation Corps raised its first unit, 451 Aviation Squadron in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to deploy these helicopters. Notably, the Indian Army's purchase of Apache was also influenced by the Indian Air Force's experience with the Apache attack helicopter. The IAF has already received 22 such Apache helicopters as part of a separate deal inked in 2015.

IndiGo launches flight operations from Hindon Airport, connecting 9 cities

Hindon: Indian Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu has launched new flight routes from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, to be operated by IndiGo. After Air India Express, IndiGo becomes the second airline to mark its presence in Hindon Airport. Four months ago, Air India Express started its operations here. Hindon Airport in NCR will now be connected with nine Indian cities -- Bengaluru, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Patna, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Indore through IndiGo services. "This is an (Udan) success of, Hindon, Ghaziabad, western Uttar Pradesh, and entire country. This is an Udan of the ambitions and aspirations of common Indians," the Union minister said from the Hindon Airport. Airlines fleet, airports, terminal capacity, and flyers have doubled in India over the past decade, the minister said, reflecting the growth India's civil aviation sector has made. "During 2024-2034, civil aviation in tier II and III cities will grow and we will have to unlock the potential. Hindon will serve as an example," the minister said. With operations from both Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Hindon Airport (HDO), flyers based out of the National Capital Region will be served by these two airports. The Hindon Airport's development work was taken up in 2019 under UDAN at Rs 50 crore, in collaboration with Indian Air Force, Minister Naidu said in his address. Minister, during his speech, said the annual flyers from Hindon Airport was about 8,000 in 2019, which has risen to upwards of 80,000 now. Union Budget 2025-26 has put an additional thrust on the ever-growing domestic civil aviation sector. Inspired by the success of the previous regional connectivity scheme, a modified UDAN scheme will be launched to enhance regional connectivity to 120 new destinations and carry 4 crore passengers in the next 10 years. The UDAN scheme, launched in April 2017, focuses on improving unserved air routes in underserved regions. India's aviation industry has experienced significant growth in the past decade, and the number of operational airports in the country has since doubled. The government aims to make India a global aviation hub by 2030.

Union Civil Minister Naidu Inaugurates 10 New Flights From Hindon Airport

'Inaugurated 10 new flights from Hindon Airport today, alongside Hon'ble MP of Ghaziabad, Shri @AtulGargBJP Ji. Congratulations to IndiGo for commencing its operations from Hindon. Starting today, @IndiGo6E will operate direct flights connecting Hindon with Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna and Varanasi, along with two new routes to Ahmedabad and Indore," he wrote on X. This marks a significant step towards strengthening air connectivity for the Delhi NCR region, offering convenient travel options for Ghaziabad, Noida, East and Central Delhi and parts of Western Uttar Pradesh. Naidu said, 'Until February, air services were operated by small flight operators from Hindon Airport. At that time, it seemed that Hindon Civil Terminal was a backup airport of Delhi. Hindon Civil Terminal is now moving towards becoming the backbone airport of Delhi rather than a backup airport," Naidu said. The Union Minister stated that Air India flights from the airport, which commenced operations in March, have consistently achieved over 90% occupancy, prompting the ministry to consider further expansion. 'We are trying to start air services from Hindon Civil Terminal to various cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kanpur. The number of passengers has increased at Hindon Airport, so now it is being considered to expand the facilities of the airport," he said. He, however, added that expansion of the airport would need at least nine acres of land. Hindon Airport was developed in 2019 under the visionary UDAN scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, transforming an unserved airport into a promising Civil Enclave.

Direct flights from Indore to Ghaziabad begin today

Indore: Direct flight services from Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport to Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport are set to commence from Sunday. This new route will provide travellers with an additional, convenient option for reaching not only Ghaziabad but also Noida and New Delhi. With significant pressure on Delhi Airport often leading to longer check-in and check-out times, the Ghaziabad flight is expected to offer a more streamlined travel experience. Hindon Airport is strategically located just 25 to 30 km from both New Delhi and Noida. IndiGo Airlines will operate this direct service, which was announced and open for bookings approximately a month ago. The flight will depart from Ghaziabad in the afternoon, arrive in Indore, and then depart from Indore in the evening for its return journey. Hemendra Singh Jadon, president of Travel Agent Association of India (Madhya Pradesh), stated that the launch of the Ghaziabad flight will significantly benefit passengers travelling to New Delhi and Noida. These travellers will now be able to easily connect via Hindon Airport. This new flight comes as a welcome addition, especially after the recent suspension of one flight each to Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata from Indore Airport. Once completed, the number of flights from Indore is expected to increase further. As per the flight schedule, flight 6E 2558 will depart from Ghaziabad at 2:00 pm and arrive in Indore at 3:15 pm, while flight 6E 2559 will depart from Indore at 3:45 pm and arrive in Ghaziabad at 5:10 pm.
