TTD suspends official for professing alien faith

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has suspended its Assistant Executive Officer A. Rajasekhar Babu, on charges of professing an alien faith, in violation of the declaration provided at the time of appointment to adhere to the Hinduism. It recently came to the notice of the TTD management that Mr. Babu regularly attended the church and prayed every Sunday in his hometown of Puttur in Tirupati district. 'It is nothing but the violation of the TTD norms, as he (Rajasekhar Babu) has not followed the code of conduct as an employee. He has acted irresponsibly as an employee representing a Hindu religious organisation,' a TTD release said. The employees, while joining the TTD service, are required to take an oath and sign a declaration that they will follow the Hindu Dharma and practise Hindu traditions only, in compliance with Rule 9 (vi) of the Service Rules issued in Revenue (Endowments-1), dated 24 October, 1989. The TTD's Vigilance department, which probed the issue, gathered evidence against Mr. Rajasekhar Babu and submitted a report, based on which the departmental action was initiated as per the rules. The TTD management, at its trust board meeting on November 18, 2024, resolved to surrender the non-Hindus working in the temple administration in various capacities to the government. According to a report made available in 2018, there are 44 employees of other religious faiths working with the TTD.

Pawan Kalyan, Annamalai and others booked for violating court conditions at Lord Murugan conference in Madurai

A criminal case was registered late Monday against Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, and key organisers of the Lord Murugan Devotees Conference held in Madurai on June 22. The case, filed at the E3 Annanagar Police Station, cites violations of the Madras High Court's restrictions on political and religious rhetoric during the high-profile spiritual event. According to the Madurai police, the complaint was filed by S Vanjinathan, an advocate and coordinator of the Madurai People's Federation for Communal Harmony. He alleged that the speeches and resolutions presented at the event incited communal hostility and violated conditions laid down by the Madras High Court, which had permitted the event with strict limits on religious and political messaging. The case — Crime No 497/2025 — was registered under sections 196(1)(a), 299, 302, and 353(1)(b)(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The named accused include Kadeshwara Subramaniam, president of the Hindu Munnani, S Muthukumar, its state secretary, Pawan Kalyan, Annamalai, and unidentified organising members of the RSS, BJP, Hindu Munnani, and allied Sangh Parivar groups. Police sources said the content of speeches and electronic communications during the event included language that 'promoted enmity between groups based on religion, race, and region' and 'outraged the religious feelings' of other communities. The FIR also alleges that public remarks and actions at the venue were 'intended to provoke disharmony under the guise of spiritual assembly.' Held amid much fanfare on a stage flanked by replicas of the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan, the event had seen a massive turnout, with Hindu Munnani claiming over one lakh devotees in attendance. Though the Madras High Court had explicitly barred political content at the conference, several speakers, including Pawan Kalyan, made political remarks wrapped in a spiritual narrative. Dressed in a green veshti traditionally worn by Murugan devotees, Pawan Kalyan took direct aim at what he termed 'fake secularists' and atheists. 'Secularism has become a shield for some to denigrate Hindu gods,' he said. 'I respect Christianity and Islam, but don't disrespect Hindu Dharma.' He called Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar an 'incarnation of Lord Murugan' and criticised political leaders for questioning why a Murugan conference was held in Tamil Nadu. The conference also passed six resolutions, including one urging Hindus to vote en bloc in the upcoming Assembly elections, and another demanding the DMK government stop 'treating temples as revenue sources.' Former BJP state chief Annamalai, also named in the FIR, declared that the conference's success showed that 'people have chosen 'Swami' over 'Nidhi' — a veiled jab at political rivals. Although the BJP's ally, AIADMK, officially remained silent on the event, four of its senior leaders, including R B Udhayakumar and Sellur K Raju, attended the conference.

'Shocked... I've Been A Dedicated Worker': BJP MLA Quits After Ramachander Picked As Telangana Chief

Last Updated: Raja Singh said there are many capable senior leaders who have tirelessly worked for the growth of the BJP and have the strength, credibility, and connect to lead the party forward Controversial BJP MLA T Raja Singh on Monday resigned from the party, expressing 'disappointment" over Ramchander Rao being appointed as the Telangana BJP chief. Questioning the choice of state president, Singh said such a choice raises serious doubts about the direction and not only undermines the sacrifices of grassroots workers but risks pushing the party into avoidable setbacks. In a letter to outgoing Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy, the BJP MLA also said there are many capable senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs within the state who have tirelessly worked for the growth of the BJP and who have the strength, credibility, and connect to lead the party forward. 'Unfortunately, it appears that some individuals, driven by personal interests, have misled the central leadership and taken decisions by running the show from behind the curtain," he stated. 'I have been a dedicated Karyakarta, elected three times in a row with the blessings of the people and support of the party. But today. I find it difficult to stay silent or pretend that all is well, This is not about personal ambition, this letter reflects the pain and frustration of lakhs of loyal BJP Karyakartas and supporters who feel sidelined and unheard. We had the best opportunity in years to bring the BJP to power in Telangana. But that hope is slowly being replaced by disappointment and frustration, not because of the people, but because of the leadership being placed at the helm," he said. Though he may be stepping away from the party, the Goshamahal legislator said he remains fully committed to the ideology of Hindutva and the service of Hindu Dharma and the people of his constituency.
