Hitesh, Sachin Siwach lead India's winning start at World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025

Astana [Kazakhstan], June 30 (ANI): India began its campaign at the World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025 on a promising note with Hitesh Gulia and Sachin Siwach with dominant, unanimous wins in their opening preliminary bouts on Monday at the Beeline Arena. Hitesh, a gold medallist from the Brazil leg, outclassed Olympian Kan Chia-Wei of Chinese Taipei 5:0 in the light middleweight division. Sachin, a bronze winner in Brazil, was equally convincing in his 5:0 win over Canada's Al-Ahmadieh Keoma-Ali in the lightweight category at the Beeline Arena. In women's competition, Minakshi began her campaign with a clean 5:0 win over Australia's Madeleine Bowen in the light flyweight division, while Muskan edged England's Kerry Davis in a closely contested 3:2 decision in the middleweight category. The Kazakhstan leg will run until July 7, with over 400 boxers from 31 countries, including Olympians, contesting across 10 weight categories in both men's and women's divisions. India has fielded a 20-member team, according to India had claimed six medals at the previous World Boxing Cup leg in Brazil. With the finals set to take place in New Delhi this November, the Astana leg plays a key role in shaping preparations. In the Brazil leg in April earlier this year, the Indian contingent delivered an impressive performance in their first-ever outing at the Elite level international meet organised by World Boxing, bagging six medals, including a gold and a silver, at Foz Do Iguacu. Four Indian players bagged bronze medals, including Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (50kg), Manish Rathore (55kg), Sachin (60kg) and Vishal (90kg). During the tournament, Hitesh became the first Indian boxer to clinch a gold medal in the World Boxing Cup. His opponent, Odel Kamara of England, was injured and couldn't take to the ring in the 70kg finale. Abhinash Jamwal, the other Indian boxer to reach the final in the 65kg category, gave his best against local favourite Yuri Reis but could not do enough to get a favourable verdict and bagged a silver medal. Hitesh Bhardwaj steps into the shadows: Ayaan's silent struggle unfolds in Aami Dakini

Eagerly awaited show Aami Dakini is poised to captivate audiences with its intense storytelling and atmospheric depth. Filmed in the evocative streets of Kolkata, the show presents an angle of Husn bhi, Maut bhi. At the heart of it lies Dakini — a mysterious figure whose silence speaks volumes, whose gaze unsettles, and whose presence lingers. This fresh narrative marks a powerful return and here's why Aami Dakini is unmissable. At its core is Ayaan Roy Choudhary, portrayed by Hitesh Bhardwaj, a skeptic drawn into an enchanting world. Reflecting on his experience, Hitesh shares, 'At its core is Ayaan Roy Choudhary, portrayed by Hitesh Bhardwaj — a skeptic drawn into an enchanting, unpredictable world. Reflecting on his experience, Hitesh shares, 'Aami Dakini isn't your typical story—it's layered, emotional, and quietly intense. As Ayaan, I had to strip away the usual dramatics and focus on stillness, on what isn't said. That was the real challenge. It taught me that in stories like this, mood matters more than spectacle. Every glance, every pause holds meaning. Speaking about one of his most memorable moments from the shoot, Hitesh shared, "There was this one scene between Meera (Raachi) and me, where both of us had to be really angry at each other. The emotions were so raw, we completely surrendered to the moment. When the scene ended, there was this silence… and then the whole crew started clapping. That felt special, like something real had just happened." "And another one with Sheen I remember telling her, 'Please don't look at me during my close-up, I am getting scared, because the way she was performing it was so intense and powerful, I was genuinely shaken. Those are the kind of moments that stay with you." he added. Udaariyaan's Hitesh Bharadwaj: I have idolized Ravi Dubey in terms of acting

‘Insightful experience': People praise Acharya Prashant for revealing Yoga's true meaning

New Delhi: On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, spiritual teacher and philosopher Acharya Prashant received widespread acclaim across the country for his transformative discourse titled "Yoga in the Light of the Bhagavad Gita." Delivered live from Goa and broadcast across more than 40 cinema halls in India, the event marked a unique spiritual milestone, turning theatres into arenas of introspection, reflection, and philosophical engagement. Citizens from cities including Raipur, Kolkata, Jodhpur, Goa, and Bilaspur expressed deep appreciation for the talk, saying it changed their understanding of yoga. IANS spoke to several audience members across the country, and a common sentiment emerged: Acharya Prashant has redefined the way millions perceive yoga, shifting the focus from physical postures to inner clarity and spiritual strength. "Yoga is not yoga, it's Yog," says a young seeker from Goa Nutan, a 24-year-old from Goa who attended the live session, said: 'I liked it. I am 24, and today, for the first time, I discovered the real meaning of yoga. Yoga is not about flexibility or posture; it is about achieving our highest potential. 'Yog' is the right word, it is not an exercise but a way to evolve.' Hitesh, another attendee in Goa, added, 'Today I realised that Yoga is about knowing who you truly are. I understood so many new things that were never clear before.' Raipur residents also experienced a spiritual shift A resident of Raipur told IANS: 'Earlier, I thought Yoga was simply about physical fitness. But after listening to Acharya Prashant, I now understand that yoga is about gaining inner clarity. To end sorrow, that is Yoga. Today gave me a whole new perspective.' Another viewer from Raipur said, 'Acharya Prashant speaks with such depth. He wants to cleanse the soul. He emphasised that a true Yogi is someone who knows themselves. It was a powerful message.' The Kolkata audience also finds a new purpose in Yoga. Attendees in Kolkata also echoed similar sentiments. 'Until today, I thought yoga was just about stretching and breathing exercises. But now I understand that Yoga is about identifying the root cause of our sorrow and eradicating it from within. That is what true yoga is.' Jodhpur audiences connect deeply with the Gita's message From Jodhpur, a viewer who was present there said, 'He explained the real meaning of Yoga. I used to think it was only about physical routines, but now I realise it's about becoming fearless, letting go, and reaching your best version.' Another local attendee noted, 'Acharya Prashant explained Yoga in such detail. It's not about bending the body, but transforming the self from within.' Bilaspur also sees spiritual awakening. A resident from Bilaspur said, 'Yoga is about reaching our highest potential. As Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, 'Yoga is disconnection from sorrow.' That truth hit hard today.' Another attendee remarked, 'Yoga is much more than physical fitness. It's about discovering the reason behind our sadness and overcoming it. Acharya Prashant gave us a deeper understanding of the Gita's teachings. It was a truly insightful experience.' The event, jointly organised by the PrashantAdvait Foundation and PVR-INOX, marked the first time the Bhagavad Gita was discussed in cinema halls — venues traditionally reserved for entertainment. Cities like Mumbai, Pune, Gurugram, Patna, Indore, and Bhopal witnessed audiences purchasing tickets not for a blockbuster movie but for a spiritual discourse rooted in ancient wisdom. Acharya Prashant's message offered a direct challenge to the commodification of yoga in the modern world. 'The Yoga of the Gita is not about physical flexibility. It is about inner invincibility,' he declared. "Arjuna was asked to rise, not to stretch. The ancient Yogis were not posing for social media likes,' Acharya Prashant said in his talk. 'They were warriors of truth. In the Gita, Arjuna was not told to meditate or do breathing exercises. He was stirred to act wisely in the midst of war. Yoga is your battle against inner inertia, against doubt, against fear.' A bestselling author of over 160 books, Acharya Prashant is the founder of PrashantAdvait Foundation. His interdisciplinary teachings fuse Vedanta, Buddhism, existential philosophy, and modern psychology, making the wisdom of Indian scriptures accessible and applicable in everyday life. He currently leads one of the world's largest Bhagavad Gita teaching programmes, with over one lakh active participants globally. His recent initiative — the world's largest Gita-based online spiritual examination — has drawn seekers from across continents.

Ahmedabad plane crash: Surat mourns doctor who beat cancer, his pathologist wife; couple was headed to London for relative's birthday

Dr Hitesh Shah (72) was loved and respected by many in Rander area of Surat. Until recently, he ran a hospital in the city along with his pathologist wife Dr Amita Shah (70) before he shut it down following his cancer diagnosis in 2022. However, neighbours say, Dr Hitesh beat the cancer in a year's time and joined the Surat General Hospital to offer his service to the public. Thursday brought devastating news to the community: Dr Hitesh and Dr Amita were on the Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad with 242 people on board, only one of whom survived. On Monday afternoon, the bodies of the doctor couple were handed over to their two US-based IT engineer sons – Smit, who works with Google, and Sneh, employed with Marvell technologies. The cremation is scheduled at Jehangirpura Cremation Home on Monday evening. The couple was headed to London to attend the birthday celebrations of Dr Hitesh's sister Bhavna. Talking to The Indian Express, Dr Amita's brother, Dr Samir Shah, said, 'Dr Hitesh was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2022, and was entirely cured one year ago. He shut down his hospital as he could not attend it regularly due to his illness. After getting fully healed, he joined Surat General Hospital.' The couple ran Smit Hospital, located in Adajan, and lived in the Tadwadi area of Rander. After learning about the crash, their sons Smit and Sneh arrived in Gujarat from the US a few days ago. It was Sneh who had provided his blood samples that matched the DNA of his parents, said Dr Samir. 'He was allowed to see the faces of his parents. Smit is under mental shock. The bodies are coming in an ambulance,' Dr Samir added. 'We have lost our beloved people. They were quite humble and were planning to retire from the medical fraternity,' he said. 'As per the government protocol, we are allowed to keep the body at the house of the doctor couple for 15 minutes, where relatives, family members and friends will offer floral tribute on the coffins kept in the ambulance. The coffins are not allowed to be taken out of the ambulance or even opened to see the faces. Two photos of the couple will be placed on the coffins, allowing people to identify them and pay their respects. The police team and district administration officials will remain present to ensure that the protocol is properly maintained. We are not sure whether the bodies will be cremated with coffins or without them,' said Dr Samir. 'We are hoping to keep the Besna (a post-cremation ritual) in the coming days so that people can come to our home and pay their respects,' he added.

Tuning Into Good Times With Radio Bar

Excerpts Tell us about the Radio Bar concept and what made you bring it to Hyderabad. Nikhil Merani: The idea began in 2014, when Hitesh visited a small 500 sqft spot in London filled with scattered musical instruments. He came back buzzing with inspiration. Around the same time, we had a site shortlisted in Bandra. We pitched a music-themed venue to the architect — something nostalgic but dynamic. That's when 'Radio' came in. Like flipping channels, each night offers a new vibe. How did you bring this vision to life through design? Hitesh Keswani: We went all in — mic lights, drum kits, vinyl on pillars, and a retro radio-themed bar. Our signature 'Chitrahaar Sundays', a Bollywood-themed night with retro hits, became iconic. That 2,500 sqft space in Mumbai pulled in 200+ guests every Sunday! We later expanded to Bengaluru, and when the opportunity came in Hyderabad, we knew it was time. How have you customised the Hyderabad outlet? Nikhil: While music remains largely Bollywood, we've adapted the local food. Hyderabadis love spice and bold flavours, so we've localised about 20% of the menu — including cocktails — while keeping the core 80% consistent with other outlets.
