Our Unwritten Seoul episode 12 will air on tvN on Sunday (June 29) at 9:20 PM KST. Ahead of the finale, cast members Park Bo Young, Park Jin Young, and Ryu Kyung Soo shared their final thoughts about the mini-series. Park Bo Young said the story will remain in her memory for a long time. According to GOT7 member Jinyoung, he is happy and grateful for the opportunity he received to greet his fans as Lee Ho Su through the mini-series. Meanwhile, actor Ryu Kyung Soo said the K-drama gave him comfort and courage when he was exhausted. Our Unwritten Seoul – K-drama Episode 7 Recap & Review
A Child Underneath It All After a brief flashback discussing our dreams as children, episode 7 of Our Unwritten Seoul begins with Mi-rae and Se-ji together during the storm. Unfortunately, Mi-rae's stomach growls, stopping any potential romantic implications. Mi-rae also finds documents that confirm he's the famous Han Se-jin from Ihan Asset Management. Mi-rae has heard about this guy and he's a pretty big deal in the financial world. This is something Mi-rae obviously knows a thing or two about! She gushes over his skills and the rumours swirling about him and how good he was at his job. There are numerous rumours about his prowess and reasons for quitting though, and he promises to tell her in a few days exactly why he quit. As for Se-jin, he wants to cut into the core of Mi-rae's issues, but she's still a bit of a closed book. Meanwhile, Ho-su finds himself in a difficult spot. During the negotiations, Ho-su stands by Ro-sa and refuses to even negotiate with Chung-gu, flat out refusing to sell. He knows there's a reason beyond this though and he intends to figure that out. Chung-gu also questions Ho-su's motivations here, promising that in the end, he'll get his way. Ho-su knows that Chung-gu is stubborn and later in the episode he seems to stumble upon a bit of a smoking gun. Chung-gu gdoes some digging and finds out that Ro-sa grew up alone in an orphanage and appears to have no relatives except for a son. Apparently, her husband was murdered by Sang-wol, who grew up in the orphanage with her, and was tried in court for domestic violence. She got a reduced sentence thanks to Ro-sa's statement but Sang-wol is now deceased. This could well be linked into the deeper issue that Ro-sa is not willing to sell. Meanwhile, Mi-ji's awkward coffee meet with Ho-su is interrupted when Ji-yun messages and asks to meet. Before she shows up though, Mi-ji is confronted by a strange woman who calls her out for still being at work. This is Park Sang-yeong's wife, the guy whom we've been hearing hints about inappropriate work behaviour for a few episodes during flashes. The rumours themselves claim that Mi-rae was having an affair with her boss and unfortunately a big fight spilled out in the company lobby when Park's wife found out. Rumours spread like wildfire and while no one knows the full story, its a massive deal and could also be why she considered suicide at one point. Sang-yeong's wife threatens Mi-ji (as Mi-rae) until Ji-yun shows up and reveals the twins' secret. It turns out Ji-yun has been testing Mi-ji this whole time and figured it out when she mentioned that Ji-yun sounded mature in Ro-sa's basement. She knows this isn't like Mi-rae but with the secret out, she remains closed about whether Ho-su knows or not (which he does, obviously). Ho-su also figures out about the 'affair' which was framed as a sexual assault allegation until Mi-rae withdrew her complaint, worried about rumours spreading. Ho-su shows up to see Mi-rae (who's pretending to be Mi-ji) and wants to know the truth. Unfortunately, they don't get far because their mums come to blows on the stairwell and wind up in hospital. I mean, to be honest it's Kim Ok-Hui's fault here for essentially calling Ho-su a burden. She promises retribution against Bun-hong after having her hair pulled, but the whole thing is just petty to be honest. Outside, awkwardness ensues when Mi-ji and Mi-rae both find themselves crossing paths with Ho-su and Se-jin when they show up. Se-jin invites them all out for something to eat and as they talk about facts, it winds up a bit of a minefield for the twins. It's only when they finish eating that Mi-rae decides they need to switch back immediately. She drops the bombshell that Ho-su already knows about their switch and it makes their earlier coffee meet-up, where she discusses Mi-ji's feelings, that much funnier. Over at the strawberry farm, Mi-rae says goodbye to Se-jin, in a roundabout way at least. She completely underestimates his experience, especially when she talks about the troubles she's had juggling work and family responsibilities. As they talk, Se-jin also brings up an incident with his grandfather where he ignored his calls to press on with a life or death decision for their business. Unfortunately, this was also life or death for his grandfather, who passed away from heatstroke in the middle of the farm. When he died, Se-jin felt broken and he fell apart. This is why he quit but the swirling rumours certainly doesn't bother him. However, he continues to honour his grandfather as best he can. Mi-rae clears the air with Ho-su afterwards, while Gyeong-gu does the same with Mi-ji. They bond over his new tattoo and discuss Ho-su's love for her and the dilemma she faces over whether to tell Ho-su how she feels right now. Gyeong-gu plays the matchmaker and figures out how Ho-su really feels when he barges over to hers that night. He's determined to bring them together but Ho-su keeps procrastinating, talking about 'later'. Gyeong-gu is quick to assure him that there's no such thing as a perfect timing, and he even pats himself on the back for this great line afterwards! Elsewhere, Mi-rae decides to take the plunge and starts writing up her resignation letter. As she does, she decides they should post-pone switching over for a while. Mi-rae mentions the difficulties she's had believing she's good enough and basically describes imposter syndrome. Letting this job go is akin to how Mi-ji has felt when her athletic career was brought to an end. She's not just starting over, but also coming to terms with the fact she's never going to find something as big or prolific as this. role This explains the inner turmoil and why she's suffered for so long. Elsewhere, Ok-hui receives a call from Wol-Sun, concerned about her wellbeing. However, she decides to just hang up on her instead. As the episode closes out, Ho-su brings Mi-ji outside and decides to take the plunge and admits that he likes her. The Episode Review So Hio-su finally takes the plunge and tells Mi-ji exactly how he feels about her. Seeing Gyeong-gu play the matchmaker is a great inclusion and his bond with Mi-ji takes on a new dimension now that we know the truth about him and his love life. As for Mi-rae, her chat with Se-jin is incredibly eye-opening as they both touch on imposter syndrome, along with the impossible choice of juggling familial responsibilities with work. The show does a good job of bringing this to light with an understanding of how difficult that choice can be, along with the idea of suffering in silence when everything falls apart. Mi-rae has clearly felt like this for a long time and while quitting her job is the best thing she can possibly do, it's also something she's struggling to follow through with. Funnily enough, this is also what Ho-su has been through too quitting the law firm, although he had more confidence to just hand his notice in and be done with it. It does take a lot of courage to turn away from a stable income and a good job. It's very scary to take that plunge into the unknown. As someone with experience doing that, quitting a high-paying insurance job to build TheReviewGeek from the ground up, it's very difficult but not necessarily the end of the road! Our Unwritten Seoul has done well to capture these themes, and to be honest I can't help but feel Ok-hui has a lot to answer for here. She's cold and emotionless with the kids, and it's no wonder that they've both grown up with their own issues. How can you not tell your own kids apart? Hopefully she'll learn some humility in the episodes ahead. But for now, this K-drama continues to deliver the goods.
