Hockey Jharkhand crowned champions of 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025 Division 'A'
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], July 14 (ANI): Hockey Jharkhand was crowned as the Champions of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025 - Division 'A' after defeating Hockey Association of Odisha 1-0 in the final at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Hockey Haryana secured the bronze medal after defeating Hockey Mizoram 3-3 (shoot out 5-4) in the 3rd/4th position match. In the final match, Hockey Jharkhand won 1-0 against the Hockey Association of Odisha. Both teams played distinctly and prevented each other from scoring with strong defence skills, but it was Jirn Soy Munda (27') who paved the way for Hockey Jharkhand to lift the trophy after netting the only goal of the match on their home soil. In the 3rd/4th Place match between Hockey Haryana and Hockey Mizoram, Hockey Haryana secured the third place and won the Bronze medal after defeating Hockey Mizoram 3-3 (SO 5-4) in a nail-biting thriller. K Vanlalpeki (9') opened the goal count on the scoreboard for Hockey Mizoram, but captain Bhavya (19'), Durga (27') and Manjinder (30') soon took the lead for Hockey Haryana to push Hockey Mizoram on the backfoot throughout most of the game. Hockey Mizoram tried hard but couldn't convert the opportunities against the strong defence of Hockey Haryana until the very last minute, where Laldinpuli's (60', 60') heroics helped Hockey Mizoram end the match with a draw as the final whistle was blown, as she scored two back-to-back goals. In the shoot-out, again, it was a neck-to-neck competition between both teams. Captain Bhavya, Manjinder, Neeshu, Radhika and Harshita scored for Hockey Haryana in all five chances that they got. On the other hand, Laldinpuli, K Vanlalpeki, C Lalruatsiami and Lalnunfeli could only score out of their five chances and fell short in a closely contested game. Hockey Haryana's Goalkeeper Saina's match-winning save in the shootout stood out as a difference maker and helped her side end their campaign on the podium. (ANI)

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], July 11 (ANI): The quarter-finals of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025 unfolded in a dramatic way at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Thursday. The day featured intense competition as Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Mizoram, and Hockey Jharkhand secured their spots in the Semi-Finals with commanding performances and high-pressure finishes, as per a press release from Hockey India. In the first Quarter-Final, Hockey Haryana edged out Uttar Pradesh Hockey 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter. Manjinder (9') scored the decisive goal early in the match. Despite several promising circle entries and as many as seven penalty corners, Uttar Pradesh failed to find an equaliser, thanks to Haryana's resolute defence. The second Quarter-Final saw a dominant display from the Hockey Association of Odisha, who brushed aside the Hockey Association of Bihar with a 5-0 victory. Ashika Samad (10') opened the scoring through a penalty corner, followed by field goals from Priyanka Minz (14') and Eleena Burh (26') in the first half. The onslaught continued in the second half as Gita Lakra (33') converted another penalty corner, and Sweety Kujur (37') added a field goal to seal an emphatic win. In the third Quarter-Final, Hockey Mizoram comfortably beat Hockey Punjab 4-0. Mizoram captain Vanlalrinhlui led from the front with a brace (19', 47'), while Lalruatsiami C (41') and Lalvenpuii (57') added one goal each to complete the rout and book Mizoram's place in the Semi-Finals. The fourth and final Quarter-Final provided the most dramatic finish of the day as Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Madhya Pradesh played out a gripping 1-1 draw in regulation time. Nousheen Naz (33') put Madhya Pradesh in front, but Jharkhand's Sugan Sanga (44') responded by converting a penalty corner to level the scores. The deadlock persisted, sending the match into a tense shootout. In the shootout, Jharkhand edged past Madhya Pradesh 5-4, with successful conversions from Ankita Lakra, Shruti Kumari, Sugan Sanga, Pushpa Manjhi, and Sewani Kerketta. Madhya Pradesh converted four of their five attempts through Nousheen Naz, Priyanshi Kshetre, Nammi Geethasri, and Keshar Bhabar, but a crucial miss by Tanvi proved costly. With this, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Mizoram, and Hockey Jharkhand march into the Semi-Finals, scheduled to take place on July 12. Day-8 Results: 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], July 10 (ANI): As it is time to reach the Quarter-final stage of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025, it was Hockey Mizoram and Hockey Association of Bihar who finished their campaigns with a win in their respective matches in Division 'A'. In the first match, Hockey Mizoram won 4-0 against Delhi in Division 'A'. Captain Vanlalrinhlui (13', 34') led from the front and stood out to be the top goal scorer after scoring a brace for her side, Hockey Mizoram. Lalremruati Esther (17') and Laldinpuii (51') also contributed with one goal each to take the game away from Delhi. With this win, Hockey Mizoram stands tall at the top of Pool 'D' with six points in the bank, as per a Hockey India press release. In the other match, Hockey Association of Bihar defeated Delhi 6-0 in Division 'A'. Pushpanjali Kumari (2', 35', 58') scored a hat-trick for the Hockey Association of Bihar. Captain Sidhi Kumari (31', 60') also scored a brace, whereas Vinayak Siddhi (57') also netted the ball once in the match to affirm their strong position. Hockey Association of Bihar now holds the second spot in Pool D. This year's edition is featuring 28 teams divided into three divisions--Division A, Division B, and Division C--introducing an added competitive edge with promotion and relegation at stake, as per a press release from Hockey India. Division A, comprising the top 12 performing teams in the country, will see intense action as the defending champions Hockey Jharkhand and last year's runner-up Hockey Madhya Pradesh lead the challenge for the national title. Division B and Division C will serve as competitive battlegrounds for emerging teams to climb the ranks. Mizoram, Odisha, MP, Jharkhand, TN, Manipur register wins on Day 5 of Sub Junior Women National Championship
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], July 7 (ANI): The fifth day of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2025 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium saw Hockey Mizoram, Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Hockey Jharkhand secure victories in their Division 'A' fixtures while Manipur Hockey emerged victorious in Division 'B' fixtures. In the first Division 'A' clash of the day, Hockey Mizoram defeated the Hockey Association of Bihar, 11-0. Leading Hockey Mizoram, Vanlalrinhlui (9', 24', 25', 29', 33', 37') was unstoppable as she accounted for six goals, including the opener. Esther Lalremruati (35', 58', 60') also netted a second-half hat-trick after C Lalruatsiami (11') and K Vanlalpeki (15') chipped in with first-quarter goals to set the tone for a comprehensive victory. Another Division 'A' clash saw Hockey Association of Odisha defeat Hockey Punjab, 3-1. Sweety Kujur (15',30', 59') scored three goals to give Odisha the victory. Meanwhile, Navjot Kaur (54') gave Punjab brief hope with a late goal, but it was in vain, as per a press release from Hockey India. Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Chandigarh, 12-0, in an afternoon Division 'A' clash. Nausheen Naz (8', 9', 17', 44', 44', 53', 58') was the star for Madhya Pradesh with a tally of seven goals. Sajeda Begum (11') and Hirva Purohit (14') also registered early goals before contributions from Sudipta Kindo (26'), Keshar Bhabar (48') and Aqsa Khan (57') completed a comfortable victory. The last Division 'A' encounter of the day saw Hockey Jharkhand defeat Hockey Andhra Pradesh 4-0. Sewani Kerketta's (18', 28') brace put Jharkhand in a strong position before half-time. Sugan Sanga (44') then added a third goal followed by a late goal from Pushpa Manjhi (53') to wrap up the win. In Division 'B', Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu and Hockey Bengal shared points following a goalless draw. Manipur Hockey defeated Hockey Uttarakhand 4-2. Jerina Chongtham (8') gave Manipur the lead followed by a brace from Huidrom Bidyaluxmi Devi (37', 57') and a late goal from Charoibam Juli Devi (60'). Hockey India celebrates 77th Olympic Day with member units across the country
New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Hockey India and its member units celebrated the 77th Olympic Day by hosting various sporting events and activities across the country. The events included friendly tournaments, exhibition matches, fitness and training sessions, poster-making and quiz competitions, as well as plantation drives to promote the Olympic values of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Through these activities, Hockey India aims to bring together people from diverse backgrounds and provide a platform to highlight the significance of fitness and sports—encouraging individuals to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives, regardless of age, gender, background, or community. Several member units, including Assam Hockey, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey, Hockey Arunachal, Hockey Mizoram, Chhattisgarh Hockey, and Hockey Jharkhand organised exhibition matches, while Goans Hockey and the Hockey Association of Odisha held hockey tournaments. Assam Hockey, the Hockey Association of Odisha, and Chhattisgarh Hockey also hosted poster-making and essay-writing competitions, while Hockey Mizoram organised a tree plantation drive. Odisha's Naval Tata Hockey Academy hosted a special lunch with Olympians and conducted quiz competitions as part of the Olympic Day celebrations. Olympic Day is celebrated annually on June 23, commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games, which began on 23 June 1894 in Paris. The primary objective of Olympic Day is to encourage global participation in sports, regardless of age, gender, or athletic ability. Since 2023, Olympic Day celebrations have aligned with the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Let's Move initiative, which aims to promote physical activity and encourage people to move more every day. Speaking about the significance of Olympic Day and the positive message it spreads, Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey said, 'Every year on 23 June, our member units come together to show their remarkable dedication to the global Olympic movement and their love for hockey. Through these wide-ranging activities, they not only promote fitness and unity but also reflect the true spirit of Olympic Day, which champions inclusivity across all ages, genders, and abilities.'
