Warrant out for extreme high-range drink driver after court no-show

A JUDGE has issued an arrest warrant for a driver who blew more than seven times over the limit after concerned motorists called to report his erratic driving around Lake Macquarie last month. Aydon Kevin Desreaux, 29, was a no-show in Belmont Local Court on Wednesday after recording a blood alcohol reading of 0.359 on May 11. Magistrate Stephen Olischlager convicted Desreaux of high-range drink driving in his absence and issued a warrant for his arrest to bring him to be court to be sentenced. Lake Macquarie police say they received numerous calls from concerned motorists and members of the public about 1.30pm on May 11 after a white Holden Rodeo was driving erratically around Speers Point, colliding with gutters and raised concrete median strips. Police managed to catch up with the driver on Croudace Bay Road at Belmont where Desreaux returned a positive roadside breath test. He was arrested and taken to Belmont police station where a secondary breath analysis returned a reading of 0.359 - more than seven times the legal limit of 0.05. He was issued a court attendance notice for high-range drink driving - second offence, had his license suspended and was ordered to appear in Belmont Local Court on Wednesday. But when he failed to appear, Magistrate Olischlager heard the matter in his absence, convicted him and issued a warrant for his arrest.
