Holly Marie Combs is remembering the legacy of her late Charmed costar Julian McMahon after his death. 'One of a kind is an understatement. Your unyielding zest for life and crazy sense of humor will be sorely missed,' Combs, 51, wrote via Instagram on Friday, July 4. 'The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered.' Combs, Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano played the bewitching Halliwell sisters on The WB's Charmed. McMahon portrayed Milano's TV love interest, Cole Turner, during his early career. He died in July at the age of 56 after a battle with cancer. While reflecting on McMahon's legacy, Combs shared a handful of throwback show images of McMahon and Doherty, who died in July 2024 after her own cancer battle. 'With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,' Kelly said in a statement. 'Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.' She added, 'We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. Kelly Carlson, who played the onscreen love interest of Julian McMahon in Nip/Tuck, has shared an emotional video reacting to his death at age 56. The actress, 49, told followers via a video posted via Instagram on Friday, July 4 that she was 'shocked and saddened' to learn of her former costar's death following a private battle with cancer. 'I just heard about the passing of Julian McMahon and I've gotten a lot of really nice messages on Instagram and I just checked 'cause I was just told and I was trying to verify it, right? Because people can say stuff like that, but it looks to be true — and oh, my gosh, I'm completely shocked and saddened by it,' she said in the footage. 'I didn't know he wasn't well for a while. Former Charmed star Holly Marie Combs took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute for her co-star Julian McMahon after learning of his death. On July 4, hours after reports of McMahon's death emerged, Combs shared a collage of highlights from her time with her fellow Charmed actor over the years. She used the song "Dancing in the Sky" as the background of the montage. In the caption, Combs wrote, "One of a kind is an understatement." Combs continued, "Your unyielding zest for life and crazy making sense of humor will be sorely missed." She added, "The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered. I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals." The reference to their "lady friend" was surely a nod to fellow former Charmed star Shannen Doherty. During the series, which ran from 1998 to 2006, McMahon played the character of Cole Turner. Combs played Piper Halliwell, and Doherty was her sister, Prue Halliwell. Alyssa Milano played the third sister in the original series, Phoebe Halliwell. For some time, Doherty and McMahon's characters dated on the show, and the pair took their romance off-screen as well. Doherty died after a lengthy cancer battle in July 2024. According to a statement provided to Deadline from McMahon's wife, Kelly McMahon, he "died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer." He was 56. "Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible," the statement provided to Deadline continued. Fans shared their heartbreak on Combs' Instagram post. "I just can't believe it. I'm in shock," wrote one. "RIP Shannen and Julian," added another. Someone else shared, "My childhood heart can't keep taking this. Rest in peace, Cole. 'Charmed' would never have been the same without you. Thank you for bringing so much magic, darkness, and love to that world we all escaped to. Your legacy, your talent, and the memories you gave us will live on forever."
