Pankaj Tripathi reveals reason he took a year-long break from work: ‘That is why I look a little fit'

Pankaj Tripathi recently opened up about prioritising himself over work, leading a slow life, spending more time in self-introspection, and, hence, not signing any new films in the past year. 'No one really knows. I am saying this for the first time. I haven't done any film for the last year, but I haven't announced that I am taking a break. I quietly took a back seat. I went on the path of self-realisation and physical healing. That is why I look a little fit. For about 2.5-3 hours, I work out six days a week,' the OMG 2 actor said. He also travelled. 'Something that I was pushing for a long time, I finally got a chance to do it. I went back to my hometown for 15 days. I also got a chance to go abroad for a few days,' he told Hollywood Reporter India. While admitting that he did 'ads from time to time', and some remaining work for his latest film Metro… In Dino, he said: 'I didn't take up any new films. I was telling everyone that there was no time, but in reality, there was a lot of time. However, I used that time for myself and introspection.' Reflecting on his decision, Delnna Rrajesh, psychotherapist, healer, and life coach, said that the quiet retreat was probably a step towards rediscovering vitality, not just for work, but for life. 'That's the kind of courage we don't talk about enough. In a world that glorifies productivity and constant output, choosing to stop can feel radical. But it is also one of the most powerful healing tools available. Burnout doesn't announce itself loudly. It creeps in as exhaustion, irritability, restlessness, and numbness. And the antidote is rarely 'just push through.' It's a pause. It's perspective,' said Delnna. According to her, introspection isn't indulgent, it's essential. 'Taking a break gives the emotional brain time to process what the logical brain keeps burying. It's in the pause that grief is acknowledged. That anger is expressed safely. That joy is rediscovered,' said Delnna. Travel doesn't just change the scenery, but it also gives a fresh perspective. 'When you change your geography, you disrupt the autopilot mode. New landscapes, new sounds, new rhythms, all activate dormant parts of your brain. Creativity returns. Curiosity returns. You remember that the world is bigger than your inbox,' remarked Delnna. Stepping back is not a sign of failure. It's preparation for your next chapter. And not everyone can take a year off. But you can take one day without checking emails. 'You can take a weekend offline. You can say no to one more obligation this week. The pause doesn't have to be long. It just has to be intentional. Because the truth is, no one's handing you permission to rest. You have to claim it,' said Delnna. A post shared by The Hollywood Reporter India (@hollywoodreporterindia) What happens when you take that break? *You reconnect with your own pace instead of living by someone else's urgency. *You return to work with a clearer mind and calmer heart. *You start to live, not just exist, between tasks. Most importantly, you remember that your value was never in your productivity. 'It was always in your presence, your aliveness, your capacity to feel joy and share it,' said Delnna.

Aalim said in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, "This is the price for everyone. This is the minimum price, actually. If a person wants Aalim Hakim to cut their hair, Rs 1 lakh is minimum. This is a per-sitting cost. If I'm called for 10 or 15 sittings, then the cost goes up to Rs 10 lakh or Rs 15 lakh. It's a metre down situation. It's not like I'm forcing anybody to pay, but this is my consultation fee.' He further said that he doesn't charge close friends but follows proper paper work with gst of Rs 18,000 for professional assignments. He said, "If they will earn through the project, then I have a right to earn as well." Aalim revealed that clients are also ready to pay more - around Rs 3-5 lakhs. He said, "They pay because they see the results on screen. If they weren't seeing the results, why would they pay? I'm not the only person in town. If this were the case, everybody would become as talented as after watching his movies.' Aalim further added that he's worked really hard to be here. "It has taken so much hard work. Nobody remembers who the richest star was five decades ago, but everyone remembers Dilip Kumar. I want people to remember me for my work." Several producers and actors have earlier spoken about the rising entourage costs of stars. had said earlier in an interview with Hollywood Reporter India that it's 'mental' that stylists charge Rs 2 lakh per day.

DOP Pratik Shah kicked out of Sourav Ganguly biopic amid allegations of sexual misconduct: Report

Cinematographer Pratik Shah, accused of inappropriate behaviour towards women, has reportedly been kicked out of the biopic of former cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly. As per Hollywood Reporter India, the film's team has 'discontinued their association' with him. According to the report, Pratik was preparing for the film. (Also Read | Neeraj Ghaywan thanks Homebound team after Cannes premiere, leaves out DoP Pratik Shah amid abuse allegations) Quoting a source, the report said, "The recce was on till recently, and Shah was in London for the same. Allegations against him surfaced just around the time he returned to India. The makers have dropped him from the project and will now naturally look for a replacement before beginning production." Reportedly, the film will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Pratik and Vikramaditya previously worked together in CTRL and web series Jubilee. Actor Rajkummar Rao will headline the biopic. Accusations against Pratik surfaced on social media when Abhinav Singh, a filmmaker known for directing short films, recently accused him of abuse, calling him 'highly manipulative' and 'emotionally abusive' in a post on Instagram. He initially did not name Pratik but urged his female followers to be careful around a cinematographer. In a subsequent post, the filmmaker claimed he received numerous messages from women detailing their experiences, and that's when he named Pratik. Pratik also worked as the cinematographer for Dharma Productions' Homebound. After the allegations emerged, the production house released an official statement. Dharma Productions responded, clarifying that no formal complaints were made against Pratik during the production of the film. Homebound which made history as the only Indian film to be featured at this year's Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section, has garnered significant international attention. The film, produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, received a stellar reception at Cannes, with a standing ovation. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa.

Mani Ratnam reveals he has threatened to throw actors off buildings: ‘If a 5-year-old can work odd hours…'

Filmmaker Mani Ratnam is all set to entertain audiences with his upcoming film Thug Life. The film marks his reunion with Kamal Haasan after 38 years, and fans are excited to relive their magic on screen. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter India, Mani spoke about how Kamal trusts him and revealed that he had once threatened to throw people off the set if they didn't do what he asked. (Also Read: Mani Ratnam defends Kamal Haasan romancing 28-year-younger Trisha Krishnan in Thug Life) When asked if he is the kind of director who gives his actors a free hand to do whatever they want, Mani said, 'Not everyone. Some people you have to threaten. I've promised people that I'll throw them off the fourth floor if they don't do what I'm asking them to do. Sometimes, you have to tell an actor that if a five-year-old child can work at odd hours, so can they. There's no one solution. But, if you have a good actor, and if what they bring in adds value…' However, Mani admitted that he doesn't like to enact scenes for an actor, as he believes it's not a director's job. He also added that sometimes a good actor could take offence if you show them how to act. The filmmaker further revealed that there were no creative clashes with Kamal Haasan on the set of Thug Life. He revealed that even while working on Nayakan, Kamal trusted him, and said, "It's simple — if it doesn't work, you tell him it doesn't. Even then, he always trusted me. If I say we go this way, he'll go. He believes in you, and if he thinks you know what you're doing, he comes with you. There's no issue at all. Given the fact that he is so talented, I think the more talented the actor is, the more he needs a director. He needs someone from outside to look objectively and be able to draw boundaries a little tighter. It's only these extraordinary talents that can stretch their arms, and you can be fooled by it — so you need to be on your toes." The gangster drama, Thug Life, is co-written by Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies. The film stars Haasan alongside Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Baburaj in key roles. It is scheduled to release in cinemas on 5 June.
