Ikea's smart home hub is now a Matter controller.
Ikea's smart home hub is now a Matter controller. The Swedish retail giant's latest update for its Dirigeria hub adds the feature in beta. Matter controller functionally means you can add Matter devices from other brands to the hub and control them with Ikea's Home Smart app. The hub is already a Matter bridge, allowing its lights, blinds, and sensors to be used on other Matter platforms (Apple Home, Alexa, etc.). With a Matter controller, Ikea can become a Matter platform in its own right.

Builder introduces latest model home at Tehaleh. Here are the details
More new homes are hitting the market at Tehaleh, the master-planned community near Bonney Lake. Tri Pointe Homes is unveiling a new model home at Glacier Pointe Vista, a 27-home site community at Tehaleh, with starting prices in the high $700,000s. Tehaleh's Glacier Pointe opened last year as the development's second phase and has nine builders listed with Glacier Pointe projects, including Verterra, an age 55+ community. The News Tribune reported in early 2024 that Tri Pointe had purchased 24 parcels at Glacier Pointe for $4.69 million. Its Glacier Pointe at Tehaleh is at 15317 204th Ave. E. Pierce County records show the builder purchased the 27 parcels for Glacier Pointe Vista in October 2024 for nearly $7.3 million. The Glacier Pointe Vista homes are marketed as between 2,809 to 3,306 square feet with 3 to 5 bedrooms, 2.5 to 3.5 bathrooms and 2- to 3-car garages with 50-amp EV outlets. The homes come with Tri Pointe's HomeSmart package, which includes whole-home surge protection, Eero Home WiFi, Schlage Encode front door hardware, video doorbell, WiFi-enabled garage-door opener, smart thermostat and a Caseta lighting control starter package. Homes also include covered outdoor spaces and a home-office space in addition to the bedrooms. Tri Pointe's customers can select fixtures and finishes at the firm's design studio in Bellevue, and the builder has an app where buyers can track each phase of their homes' construction, with photos. 'Tehaleh is such an exciting place to be building right now, and we're looking forward to releasing our next community with Glacier Pointe Vista,' Lisa Graham, director of marketing for Tri Pointe Homes Washington, said in a release. The model home has 'up to 3,089 sq. feet of space, with five bedrooms, and three to three-and-a-half bathrooms,' according to Tri Pointe. 'The first floor features a 2-bay garage, open concept main floor with kitchen, living and dining room, a guest bedroom and a large main floor study.' Tri Pointe added, 'The second floor has a spacious loft connecting four bedrooms. The primary suite has dual walk-in closets and a large primary bath with freestanding tub and glass-enclosed shower plus dual sinks. The other bedrooms each have their own closet and share a bathroom.' It noted that the loft space includes 'a hand-painted mountain mural that sets a scenic backdrop for family gatherings.' The Glacier Pointe Vista homes are in the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District. An open house will be held at Tri Pointe's model home, 20347 Eagle Lane E., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 28 and feature cookie dough cones from the Sugar + Spoon truck. Attendees can RSVP online.
