Winona LaDuke
LaDuke is a Native American land activist and author who lives and works on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota.
LaDuke founded the White Earth Land Recovery Project, which works to buy land non-natives acquired and preserve tradition, in 1989.
She is cofounder and executive director of Honor The Earth, started in 1993 to raise public support and funding for native environmental groups.
In 1996 and 2000, she ran as Ralph Nader's vice presidential candidate on the Green party ticket.
LaDuke is an Anishinaabekwe (Ojibwe) enrolled member of the Mississippi Band Anishinaabeg.
