Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro review: A stylish Apple Watch alternative for Android users
The recently launched Watch Fit 4 Pro is the first Huawei device I've reviewed in several years. While the Chinese company remains on the US sanctions list and doesn't support Google or its services, its wearables continue to impress with stunning features and sleek design. The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro combines flagship smartwatch features with a slimmer, lighter design, making it perfect for all-day wear, including sleep tracking. Design and build The Watch Fit 4 Pro feels great on the wrist, thanks to its premium materials, slim profile, and lightweight design. Picture: Noel Campion. The Watch Fit 4 Pro weighs only 30.4 grams (without the strap) and is just 9.3mm thick; it's even slimmer than the standard Fit 4 model. At a glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking this is an Apple Watch Ultra. However, when placed side by side, the differences become much more noticeable. For someone like me, who has mostly worn the Apple Watch Ultra 2 for the past year, the Fit 4 Pro feels slimmer and lighter, especially at night. In everyday use, I hardly notice it on my wrist. The rotating crown matches the band colour perfectly, a clever design detail. Picture: Noel Campion Huawei offers the Pro model in black, blue, and green. I tested the green version with nylon strap, which not only stays secure during activities but also impressively resists sweat and moisture. This is a beautiful watch that both looks and feels premium. It's the small details that make a difference, like the matching green accent on the rotating crown, the lightweight metal body, and the sapphire glass screen, which I found to be impressively resistant to scratches. Display The 1.82-inch AMOLED display features a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, is protected by sapphire glass, and a titanium alloy bezel. Picture: Huawei. The Watch Fit 4 Pro boasts a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, which is 50% brighter than the non-Pro version. Visibility is flawless outdoors, even in direct sunlight. In the recent sunny weather, I keep brightness maxed out and always-on display enabled, and it still holds up well on battery. The screen is sharp and vivid, and interacting with it feels smooth. Navigation is aided by a responsive rotating crown that lets you scroll without needing to swipe on the screen. The lower side button acts as a quick shortcut to apps like activities, and is customisable. Features and battery life Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro. Picture: Noel Campion. Huawei's HarmonyOS 5.1 powers the watch and will feel familiar to anyone who's used a recent Huawei wearable. You can swipe to access widgets, scroll through apps in either list or grid view, and choose from hundreds of watch faces, including animated or custom photo options. Battery life is solid. Huawei claims up to 10 days of battery life with light use, and I've averaged 4–5 days with the always-on display and maximum brightness, plus around 30 minutes of daily activity. The 400mAh battery takes about 60 minutes to fully charge. The new magnetic dock is a significant improvement over the old pogo-pin system, offering greater security and user-friendliness. The wireless charging is Qi-compatible, although I found it a bit tricky to locate the sweet spot on a standard wireless charging pad. Activity and smart features The Watch Fit 4 Pro is EN 13319 certified, with 40-metre dive-grade water resistance and an IP6X dustproof rating. Picture: Noel Campion. The watch offers a comprehensive suite of health and fitness tracking. It includes Huawei's new TruSeen 5.5+ system for heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, with added support for ECG and Heart Rate Variability (HRV). The latter offers insights into stress and cardiovascular health. The Fit 4 Pro provided me with a detailed breakdown of light, deep, and REM sleep, along with practical recommendations for improving my sleep quality. Thanks to its lightweight design, I've worn it nightly without issue. Compared to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Huawei's sleep analysis tends to report higher amounts of deep sleep, although both devices generally agree on the total time spent asleep. The Watch Fit 4 Pro features a five-system GNSS setup, providing enhanced positioning accuracy that Huawei claims is 30% better than the Fit 3. It supports trail running with offline contour maps, diving mode up to 50m (5 ATM), and even golf tracking, with support for over 15,000 courses globally. I used the watch to track my cycling trips, and while it accurately recorded the route, I noticed it also counted steps while I was cycling. On a 10km ride, it logged around 3,500 steps, which suggests the step tracking isn't fully optimised for cycling activity. Water sports mode tracks speed, heart rate, and route, making it suitable for swimmers or kayakers. And for everyday users, there's support for over 100 workout types. The bottom button quickly launches workouts, or you can use voice control to start one using AI voice. The Watch Fit 4 Pro is equipped with a range of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, optical heart rate sensor, barometer, temperature sensor, ECG sensor, and depth sensor. Picture: Noel Campion. Unfortunately, although the watch features NFC, the Wallet app isn't available under the Devices tab in the Huawei Health app, and it doesn't appear to support contactless payments in this region. I'm a huge fan of using my watch for payments and love the convenience it offers, so the lack of support for contactless payments is a noticeable drawback. I suspect this missing feature could be a deal-breaker for some users. When paired with an Android device, you also get access to a full keyboard for quick replies. However, voice dictation is only available if you're using a Huawei smartphone. The Watch Fit 4 Pro works great with Android and iOS. I was able to switch between Android and iOS phones, and the Health app syncs everything, including sleep and activity data, across platforms. There are a few minor feature gaps on iPhone (e.g. no full keyboard or Petal Maps), but nothing deal-breaking. Verdict The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro combines flagship health and fitness features with a sleek, comfortable design that feels more like a fitness band than a bulky smartwatch. It's the perfect hybrid for serious tracking and everyday comfort. €249 Currys

[REVIEW] Huawei's Watch Fit 4 Pro an Apple watch killer?
The wearables offer strong value, with class-leading tracking and health features for the price. The Huawei Watch Fit 4 series, for the first time, includes a Pro version. The standard variant offers a minor update over its predecessor, but the Pro takes a big step forward, The brand new Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, looks like a mini Apple Watch Ultra, but the price is also mini in comparison. Key features Some key details of the device include the watch being made of Titanium/aerospace aluminium and weighing just 30.4 grams. The Fit 4 Pro is the thinnest Fit to date, measuring just 9.3 mm, and features the Huawei TruSense System sensors. In fact, it's thinner than an Oreo cookie The first thing that caught my attention is the screen – the Watch Fit 4 Pro is built around a 1.82″ AMOLED display that is incredibly bright, with excellent legibility even in direct sunlight. Huawei claims an impressive peak brightness of 3,000 nits, matching the far more premium Watch 5 wearable. The pixel density is better than the Apple Watch Series 9's 45 mm's 326 PPI, and its peak brightness is also 33% higher than that of the much more expensive series. ALSO READ: Huawei unveils new Watch Fit 4 series and Watch 5 in Berlin Sensors The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro ticks a lot of boxes and comes with an impressive set of sensors and features rivalling more premium and high-end models both in Huawei's own GT series and also among the company's competitors It uses Huawei's TruSense System, which features upgraded sensors and new algorithms to measure 60 different health indicators across six body systems. The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro comes with deep health tracking capabilities, such as ECG, arterial stiffness detection, SpO2 measurements, sleep tracking, and temperature readings. Golf It also has over 1,500 golf courses, deep-sea diving modes, over 100 sports modes, and offline maps with contour lines, among other features. Huawei's tried and tested Sunflower GPS pairs with reliable health and fitness tracking to round out the experience. The Green version comes with a matching nylon woven strap, but you can get additional straps – like the ones from the Black and Blue versions. These straps are made from fluoroelastomer and come with a traditional clasp. As someone with hairy wrists, I appreciated that the Pro's digital crown didn't tug at my arm hair. ALSO READ: Smartwatch market expands as Huawei sets date for Berlin launch [VIDEO] Software and charging The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro runs on HarmonyOS version 5.1. It requires the Huawei Health app, but it will work with both Android- and iOS-based phones once you have the app installed. The pairing process is simple enough; you scan a QR code with your phone and follow the steps afterwards. The battery inside the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro is rated at 400 mAh. Huawei advertises seven days on a single charge with regular use and up to ten days max, but you can get more with conservative use. I got about ten days and there was still 29% juice left, which could last another day., Charging speeds are solid, with the Watch Fit 4 Pro charging slightly faster than the standard model. After 20 minutes of charge time, the battery hit about 35%, and reached 90% within an hour, with a full charge taking just slightly longer. Verdict Both the Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro pack a lot into two undeniably Apple Watch–inspired bodies. The entry-level Watch Fit 4 is a lightweight, affordable fitness tracker with excellent battery life, while the pricier Pro adds a more durable titanium alloy frame, sapphire glass, and an aluminium alloy body. It also unlocks advanced health and fitness features, including ECG support, diving, and golf sports modes. The Watch Fit 4 Pro's inclusion of ECG support helps justify its higher price. Syncing with third-party services can be limited, there's no real third-party app ecosystem, and features like mobile payments or a voice assistant are missing, but none of these feel like a dealbreaker. Availability and pricing The wearables offer strong value, with class-leading tracking and health features for the price. Both the Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro are expected to go on sale in South Africa on 2nd June. The Watch Fit 4 is available in Black, Grey, Purple, and White, while the Pro comes in Black, Blue, and Green, with Grey and Green options As for recommended pricing, the Watch Fit 4 will go for R2 999, while the Watch Fit 4 Pro will cost R4 999. Apple Watch Ultra rival for $250? This watch claims to have it all plus longer battery life
Hot take here, but I think smartwatches are severely overpriced, which makes finding one that has great value quite company, however, has flipped the script with its latest smartwatch. I'd even go as far as calling it the 'Apple Watch killer.' Why? Because it comes with a battery life that beats even the company's most expensive model, all while offering a 3000-nit AMOLED display, a titanium body with sapphire crystal glass, and most of the high-tech health and fitness the best part about this watch is that it is compatible with both iOS and Android phones! We're talking about the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, which comes packed with features normally found in much pricier smartwatches. At an approximate price of $250, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro feels like a high-end watch of the 'Ultra' class. The titanium alloy bezel and sapphire crystal display aren't just buzzwords that the company has slapped on the spec sheet—they translate into something that looks sharp, feels solid, and is genuinely new model has a stronger identity, not like its predecessor, which used to have an uncanny resemblance to some of the 1.82-inch AMOLED screen reaches a peak brightness of 3000 nits, which makes even a midday jog under cloudless skies a breeze. These are numbers that, again, we've only seen on devices like the Apple and Galaxy Watch Ultras. But it's the health sensors that set the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro apart. You get ECG readings, arterial stiffness detection, temperature tracking, HRV, dual-band GPS, and more. The best part? Huawei has squeezed them all in while keeping a similar price tag to the Galaxy Watch 7 and Apple Watch SE (2022). But probably the best advantage of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro over its competitors is its battery life, which Huawei claims is 7 days of regular use. We didn't get that much out of it during our testing, but we got 5 full days with Always On display turned on, and all sensors set up at their highest frequency setting. That also included GPS workouts, music playback, and sleep to mention that you can charge the watch from 0-100% in just under an hour with its new Qi2 wireless charger. For all the benefits it comes with, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro will likely still be less popular than the Apple Watch SE and Galaxy Watch 7 . HarmonyOS, while visually polished, still trails behind watchOS and Wear OS when it comes to third-party apps. Although, Strava users will be happy to hear that the watch is fully compatible with the Health, while comprehensive, is isolated. It doesn't sync with Google Fit, and Apple Health integration is non-existent. If you're someone who wants your smartwatch to talk to all your other health platforms, this might be here's the thing: for many users, these aren't dealbreakers. How often do you really install new apps on your watch? I don't even use the ones that I have installed, which makes me wonder why I even need an app store. Also, do you need your fitness data in five different places? If what you care about is the hardware experience and the metrics, the Watch Fit 4 Pro delivers those at a level few others in this price range do. Let's address the elephant in the room—Huawei isn't Apple or Samsung. It doesn't have the same brand awareness in Western markets, and headlines about geopolitics have made some people hesitant to engage with its ecosystem. But those fears risk obscuring something important with the Watch Fit 4 Pro — the fact that it is simply too good to watch delivers features you'd usually find in devices thrice the price—premium materials, cutting-edge health tracking, fast wireless charging, and a screen that rivals flagships. And while it's true that the software isn't as rich or open as what you'd get from Wear OS or watchOS, for many users that shouldn't really matter. The basics are covered. The experience is smooth. The hardware? a device should be about value and performance—not geopolitics or brand popularity. And Huawei, whether you like what's behind that name or not, has delivered a wearable that's more honest about what people need than many better-known brands. So before dismissing it, ask yourself: are you buying a watch or a logo? The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro doesn't just meet expectations for a £250 smartwatch—it tips them over. You get a titanium build, sapphire glass, flagship-tier health tracking, week-long battery, and a screen so bright it makes rivals look dim. Sure, the app situation isn't ideal, and the brand might not carry the same clout in the West as Apple or Samsung. But for people who want good value — this watch is an absolute bargain. It makes you question why you'd pay more for the Galaxy and Apple Watch Ultras out there. If any device from Huawei can change the company's status quo, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro would be it.
