A West Indies international cricketer—currently part of the national set-up—has been accused by at least 11 women, including a teenager, of rape, sexual assault, harassment, and unwanted advances, according to a June 27 report by Kaieteur News in Guyana. According to family accounts, he had picked her up under the guise of 'socialising' and brought her to a residence filled with others. She felt safe—until he allegedly led her upstairs and forcibly raped her. The family has accused the player's entourage and Guyanese law enforcement of efforts to suppress the case. Since the report came out, more women have come forward, producing evidence like screenshots, voice notes, medical filings, and messages, claiming repeated assaults and attempts at cover-up. One survivor disclosed that the cricketer offered money to settle the matter, but the family refused, saying, 'We don't want money. I want justice for what he did to my daughter.' None of the allegations has yet resulted in formal charges. However, lawyer Nigel Hughes, representing one of the complainants, informed SportsMax TV that initial complaints were made roughly two years ago—meaning early 2023. Hughes said those allegations prompted an investigation, and prosecutors recommended charges be filed, but then the matter disappeared from public view Hughes added that renewed inquiries 'literally yesterday and the day before' (i.e., June 25–26, 2025) yielded no updates from authorities and that the abused teenager and others have grown weary from repeated questioning and institutional delays Several reports accuse Guyanese law enforcement of 'stonewalling' and attempting to suppress complaints, with some alleging pressure from influential figures tied to the cricketer's family. The same cricketer was even reportedly arrested on a sexual assault allegation. It was alleged that the accused was allegedly involved in the rape of a teen relative under the age of consent. The victim later withdrew her statement, and the case was closed; charges were not pressed. Notably, the cricketer was part of the West Indies squad that secured a historic victory over Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane in January 2024. Carlton superfan and TV funnyman Dave Hughes has again addressed the raging crisis engulfing his embattled club. The Blues' season has imploded, fans are fuming, and past coaches and players are crawling out of the woodwork to have their say about the club they once represented. Carlton was belted by Port Adelaide on Thursday night and are now facing brutal clashes against flag contenders Collingwood and Brisbane. The day before the loss to Port, Hughes went viral with an epic rant about following Carlton on Channel 7's hit show The Front Bar. 'We were premiership favourites playing against an under-12 team, we were 40 points up and lost, and our team left at halftime!' he said about the loss to Richmond in Round 1. Cook them up and have a good time. What could go wrong?' That outburst was in the aftermath to Carlton's shock loss to North Melbourne in Round 15. Fans were hoping the Blues would respond against Port, but that ended in a 50-point smashing. On Friday the Hughes tone was more sombre as he admitted it was hard work being a supporter, and his son doesn't go to games anymore. 'I still go to Carlton games because unlike my teenage son I still remember the feeling of winning. Hopefully it happens in my lifetime. I'm trying to keep fit so that I can live another 50 years and see that it does happen. Because the reward if they do get it done will be immense,' he wrote in a News Corp column. 'It gets to a point where you go, 'I don't think the players are playing for you, mate'. If you're playing for a coach, you don't put up what you put up in that first half. 'They're putting up nothing, they didn't kick a goal for the whole first half. 'They don't look like they've got a system but they do have a system; they train and they train hard. They're just not performing.' West Indies rocked by sickening allegations
The West Indies have been rocked by the news that a member of the cricket team has been accused of shocking sex offences. One of the alleged offences includes rape. Reports suggest 11 women are among the alleged victims, with one of the women still a teenager. There are also claims that local authorities have 'stonewalled' the complainants since the West Indies returned from Australia following the tour in 2023-2024. Law firm Hughes, Fields and Stoby has confirmed it is on the case. 'The allegations that were levelled by the victim were levelled two years ago,' lawyer Nigel Hughes said on local broadcaster SportsMax TV. 'An investigation was conducted and we understand that there were recommendations by the office of public prosecutions to institute charges. 'I think the evidence is pretty strong in relation to what is happening here.' The story reportedly 'escalated' while the West Indies clashed with Australia in the first Test in Bridgetown. In that Test, the West Indies suddenly crumbled on the third day and lost the match. Guyana's leading news agency Kaieteur News recently reported on the story. Officials from Cricket West Indies are not commenting on the matter. 'Cricket West Indies is unaware of the circumstances and, therefore, is not in a position to comment at this time,' CWI president Kishore Shallow recently said in a statement. 'CWI has not received any communication or official information (about the matter),' they again said on Saturday (AEST). Hughes said no charges had been laid as yet. He also said that the alleged matter went quiet when the team returned from the Australian tour but inquiries have again sparked up over the past few days. The original report out of Guyana said: 'I have heard accounts from no fewer than eleven women, one of them a teenager, who allege that they have been sexually assaulted, raped, or subjected to unwanted sexual advances by him (the West Indies cricketer).'

An unnamed West Indies men's cricketer has been accused of several counts of sexual assault, sexual harrasment and rape, as per reports in West Indies-based media outlets. According to a video report by Caribbean-based SportsMax TV, the cricketer in question is from Guyana and is a part of the current national team setup. Further information in the video report states that the cricketer has been accused by at least 11 women. However, no charge has been filed as of yet against the cricketer. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has also refused to comment on the matter. The report appears to have emerged originally from Guyana-based newspaper Kaieteur Sports. The report further contained this revelation: "I have heard accounts from no fewer than eleven women, one of them a teenager, who allege that they have been sexually assaulted, raped, or subjected to unwanted sexual advances by him." This was the response: "Cricket West Indies is unaware of the circumstances and, therefore, is not in a position to comment at this time," CWI President Kishore Shallow was quoted as saying, in the report. As per lawyer Nigel Hughes - who was reached out to by one of the alleged victims two years ago - the player was part of the West Indies squad that famously beat Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane in January 2024. Hughes stated that no charges have been filed against the cricketer by the victims. He also claimed that talk regarding the player's actions died down after he returned to Guyana from the tour of Australia. However, enquiries as recent as a day or two ago have taken place regarding the matter. Hughes also stated that the cricketer received a "hero's welcome" upon returning to Guyana following the West Indies' victory in Australia a year ago.
