Angry motorcyclist's heated clash with a cop at a set of red lights spectacularly backfires as Aussies claim he is in the wrong: 'Don't backchat'

A motorcyclist has been slammed for arguing with a cop after he was cut off at an intersection, with Aussies claiming he was in the wrong and should be more careful. The motorist ran into trouble while riding his motorbike along Pitt Street, in Sydney 's CBD, in May. The motorcyclist attempted to move into the left lane as he came up to a set of red lights. The cop car ahead of him merged lanes, prompting the angry motorcyclist to hit his brakes and honk his horn, to avoid a crash. The officer rolled up next to him to give him firm advice. 'If you're going to go into the middle of the lanes then you have to be watching indicators,' he said. 'So did you when you turn,' the motorcyclist said. 'You did not see me and you did not look in your mirrors.' 'Don't give me backchat,' the officer said. The motorcyclist rode off down Park Street, calling the officer an 'idiot' once he was well out of earshot. The motorcyclist shared footage of the altercation to Instagram. 'Who's in the right?' the caption read. Social media users immediately jumped to the defence of the officer, arguing he had put on his indicator and the motorcyclist ignored it. 'The cop put the indicators on. The motorcyclist was just being an a** looking for likes,' one wrote. 'You're riding in the blind spot, not defensive riding at all,' another said. 'You are wrong. You're lucky he didn't fine you,' a third added. Others warned the motorcyclist to be more careful in the future, arguing he could cause a crash by riding in people's blind spots. 'I love how you're trying to argue technicalities of who's right or wrong,' one said. 'If you get hit by a car while on a bike, you're the one that comes off second best - every single time.
