Kuwait stresses urgent need to conserve electricity and water
KUWAIT CITY, June 24: Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah emphasized on Tuesday the critical importance of rationalizing electricity and water consumption, calling it both a national duty and an urgent necessity to preserve Kuwait's natural resources for future generations. Speaking during his sponsorship and attendance of the symposium 'Towards Sustainability... Save,' organized in cooperation with the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Governor stated that Kuwait, under its wise leadership and strategic vision, is steadily progressing toward a more sustainable future encompassing environmental, economic, and social dimensions. "Rationalizing electricity and water consumption is no longer an option — it is a national responsibility essential to ensuring the sustainability of resources," Sheikh Humoud said. The symposium addressed one of the most pressing issues facing the country: the responsible use of energy resources amid accelerating environmental and economic challenges globally. The Governor called on all state entities to work together in promoting a culture of conservation and to raise public awareness about the optimal use of energy. Highlighting that Kuwait has one of the highest per capita electricity consumption rates, he pointed to recent load rates exceeding 17,000 megawatts, which, he warned, requires urgent collective action by both institutions and individuals. He noted that achieving sustainability is not solely dependent on technological advancements, but also on personal behaviors and daily lifestyle choices. 'Adopting a mindful approach to energy use and respecting environmental limits must be part of our national consciousness,' he said. Sheikh Humoud stressed the need for continued commitment to reducing energy consumption, aligning with the country's broader environmental and economic goals under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He also commended the efforts of participating agencies in the symposium for their role in promoting rational consumption and preserving Kuwait's natural wealth. In a related statement, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Chairman of the Electricity and Water Consumption Rationalization Committee, Dr. Adel Al-Zamel, underscored the importance of changing consumption patterns within society. Dr. Al-Zamel explained that the purpose of intensified awareness seminars such as 'Towards Sustainability... Save' is to educate citizens on energy conservation throughout the year — not just during the summer months. 'A small change in consumption can have lasting benefits for current and future generations,' he noted. He added that current summer consumption indicators are encouraging and that data will be analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the awareness campaign. He reiterated the ministry's commitment, alongside the Ahmadi Governorate, KOC, and other public and private bodies, to fostering a culture of conservation in Kuwait. The symposium featured two panel discussions, focusing on the future of renewable energy and its impact on quality of life. It also highlighted the 'Sustainable Energy for a More Beautiful Future' initiative, which aims to instill sustainability and conservation values in school students.

Kuwait Airways ensures comfort and smooth procedures for returning pilgrims
KUWAIT CITY, June 10: Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) on Monday received the first group of pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia after performing the Hajj pilgrimage, with all necessary measures in place to guarantee comfort and efficiency during their arrival at Kuwait International Airport. Abdulmohsen Al-Faqan, Chairman of KAC's Board of Directors, affirmed the national carrier's commitment to providing a smooth and convenient travel experience for returning pilgrims. Speaking during the reception of flights arriving at Terminal 4 (T4) from Jeddah, Medina, and Taif, Al-Faqan emphasized the airline's efforts to ensure seamless procedures upon arrival. He praised the collaborative efforts between Kuwait Airways and several key agencies, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Ministries of Interior and Health, and the General Administration of Customs. Al-Faqan credited the success of this year's Hajj season to thorough preparation and coordinated planning among all stakeholders involved. Highlighting the airline's structured approach, Al-Faqan noted that KAC annually forms a dedicated Hajj and Umrah committee drawn from its core departments to monitor and facilitate the pilgrimage season. This committee ensures the smooth operation of flights and provides comprehensive support to pilgrims throughout their journey. Al-Faqan also extended his appreciation to the Kuwaiti leadership for the support extended to pilgrims and congratulated Saudi Arabia on the successful and secure organization of the Hajj season. Accompanied by Acting Interior Ministry Undersecretary Major General Ali Al-Adwani, Sheikh Humoud underscored the DGCA's dedication to offering high-quality services in cooperation with other government bodies. He highlighted the importance of coordination between administrative and security agencies to ensure an orderly and dignified return for all pilgrims. Speaking to KUNA during a celebration organized by the 'Fazaa Al-Dahiya' team in cooperation with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Sheikh Humoud said the event reflects appreciation for the efforts and achievements of Kuwaiti women, who play a vital role in building society and advancing the nation. The event was attended by a number of supporting and sponsoring institutions. Sheikh Humoud noted that Kuwaiti women have stood shoulder to shoulder with men during the most challenging times in defense of the homeland. Today, he said, they are indispensable partners in the ongoing process of nation-building and development. He pointed out that Kuwaiti women have excelled in various fields, holding supervisory, leadership, and judicial positions, actively participating in decision-making, and making significant strides in the private sector. As a result, they have earned advanced positions on both the regional and international stages, and many now rank among the world's most influential women. Kuwait civil aviation chief, Morocco's Transport Min. discuss cooperation
RABAT, May 8 (KUNA) -- Head of Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Sheikh Humoud Al-Sabah has met with Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdulsamad Qayouh to discuss promoting air transport cooperation to serve mutual interest. Sheikh Humoud, in a statement to KUNA after meeting Qayouh last night, said they discussed cooperation in training and exchange of expertise with the objective of boosting integration in civil aviation sector as well as importance of the direct flights between the two countries, which have seen rising demand. The meeting took place on sidelines of a meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab civil aviation organization, currently taking place in Rabat. Sheikh Humoud said they underlined importance of deepening strategic partnership, developing human resources and exchange of training programs, as well as bolstering air safety. (end)
