Nebraska's Memorial Stadium ranked middle of the pack in the Big Ten Conference

Where does Nebraska's Memorial Stadium rank among the 18 home venues in the Big Ten? Paul Myerberg recently ranked the Big Ten Stadiums, and the Huskers' home venue ranks No. 8 in the league. Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes, ranked No. 1 in the conference while Northwestern's Ryan Field brought up the rear, ranked dead last at No. 18. Nebraska has called Memorial Stadium home since October 13, 1923. The original construction cost $430,000. Nebraska's Memorial Stadium is best known for its home sellout streak. The Huskers, entering 2025, have sold out 403 games dating back to 1962 and hold a record of 326-77 during the streak. "A decided lack of success at home in recent years dunks the Cornhuskers down this list. But when Nebraska is playing well, Memorial Stadium provides one of the best home-field advantages in college football." Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Huskers open Memorial Stadium in 2025 on September 6 when they host Akron for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff. Find the entire Big Ten stadium rankings from USA TODAY Sports below. Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule listed as safe in latest hot seat coach rankings

CBSSports released a ranking of the job security of all 136 FBS coaches earlier this week. Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule was ranked as safe for now, according to the measurement scale in the article. Rhule is 12-13 in his first two seasons in Lincoln. He is entering his third season with the program, which historically has been the most productive for him as a head coach. He has a rising sophomore quarterback, Dylan Raiola, as well as new pieces on both sides of the football. A new-look coaching staff should help him achieve that leap. CBSSports added the Huskers' coach at 2.11 on their measuring scale. This put him in the "good for now" category in terms of job security. It will be interesting to see how the program fares in Rhule's third season. They have the pieces to be able to compete with the rest of the Big Ten. Now, they have to focus on putting it all together. ESPN names Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass one of the top 25 plays in football since 2000

One of the more famous plays in the history of Nebraska football was recently named one of college football's greatest moments of the last two decades. ESPN ranked college football's top 25 plays since 2000, and at No. 21 on the list was "Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass" from the Huskers' 20-10 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 27, 2001. Eight ESPN writers and two editors nominated fifty-one plays, and that list was whittled down to 25 plays. The eight writers then ranked the moments from 1 to 25, with 25 points awarded for the top play, 24 for second place, and so on, until play No. 25. Advertisement With the No. 3-ranked Cornhuskers leading the No. 2-ranked Sooners 13-10 in the fourth quarter and the ball at its own 37-yard line, head coach Frank Solich called Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass. ESPN described the play in detail. "His heroics mostly came from running the option, but on this play against Oklahoma, Crouch handed off the ball, peeled out into the flat and up the field as a receiver. The original ball carrier, Thunder Collins, handed it to Mike Stuntz on a reverse, and he hit Crouch sprinting down the sideline for a 63-yard touchdown." Nebraska would go on to win the game 20-10, and Eric Crouch would win the Heisman Trophy in one of the closest votes in the award's history. Crouch beat Florida sophomore quarterback Rex Grossman 770 points to 708 votes. Crouch's 770 points are the fewest by a Heisman winner since Terry Baker won the award in 1962 with 707 points. Joining Crouch and Grossman at the Downtown Athletic Club that year were Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey and Oregon quarterback Joey Harrington. Advertisement Watch the famous play below.
