Huthwaite pub demolition plans submitted
Plans have been lodged to knock down a former pub in Huthwaite and build a three-storey block of Lloyd Partnership has submitted a planning application to Ashfield District Council to demolish the Peacock Hotel in Main Street and replace it with a building consisting of 23 one-bedroom to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the pub closed in May 2024, with the site's history dating back to the 18th Century when it was a farmhouse with an documents submitted by the applicant describe the proposal as a "sustainable" redevelopment that would provide "much needed" housing. The application adds: "The proposed development makes efficient use of a previously developed site that is no longer in commercial use, contributing to local housing supply through a sustainable, well-connected location."The authority is due to make a decision on the application by 18 September.

Ashfield council deputy leader fined over out of control dogs
A deputy council leader has been ordered to pay more than £1,800 in court after admitting being in charge of dangerously out-of-control Hollis, deputy leader of Ashfield District Council in Nottinghamshire, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with three counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog in Huthwaite, where he lives, on 12 December 32-year-old, of Yew Tree Close, also pleaded guilty to resisting a constable in the execution of his duty at his home address on 9 January. Those rules include requiring dogs to be on leads in specific areas, excluding dogs from some spaces and requiring a person to put their dog on a lead when asked to by an authorised officer. Hollis, of the Ashfield Independents party - and a former Nottinghamshire County councillor - was ordered to pay a fine of £520 plus £1,000 in compensation, a victim surcharge amounting to £208 and £85 in court costs. The deputy leader was convicted of careless driving in September 2022, a day after being found guilty for harassing his neighbours during the Coronavirus lockdown. He was removed from his position at the time but did not resign, and was later returned to the February 2024, Hollis was fined at Nottingham Magistrates' Court for failing to declare a financial interest.

Man charged over fatal pub beer garden assault in Huthwaite

Murder arrest after man dies following assault outside pub
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man died following an assault outside a pub in were called to the Market Inn, in Main Street, Huthwaite, at about 21:10 BST on Sunday.A man in his 30s sustained serious injuries in the assault, which took place in a pub beer garden. He died in hospital on Tuesday. Nottinghamshire Police said a 30-year-old man had been arrested and remained in custody. Police have also arrested a 51-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender, while a 31-year-old man - previously held on suspicion of affray - has been released with no further Insp Matt Scott said: "I'd firstly like to pass on my sincere condolences to the victim's family and loved ones."They are currently being supported by specially-trained officers through what must be an incredibly distressing time."I'd once again ask that anyone who saw what happened, or has any relevant information, CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or phone footage, shares it with us, if they haven't done so yet."Every piece of information we receive, however small or insignificant it may initially seem, has the potential to be the evidence we need to solve a case."

Man seriously injured in assault outside Huthwaite pub
Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured in an assault outside a pub in services were called to Main Street, Huthwaite, near the Market Inn, at about 21:20 BST on Police said a 31-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of affray and remained in victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with "serious injuries" after what was believed to be an "isolated incident".
