Bradley women earn 1st win over ISU in 5 years, Bison & Rivermen win Sunday games
PEORIA, Illinois (WMBD) – The Bradley Braves women's basketball team defeated Illinois State in the I-74 rivalry for the first time since February 2020 Sunday afternoon. Piggybacking on an 25-4 run in the end of the first quarter, the Braves pulled out a 70-65 victory. Illinois State jumped out to a 12-3 lead to start the game. After a timeout, Bradley scored the next 18 straight points, mostly from a barrage of three-pointers. Toledo transfer Soleil Barnes dropped 30 points for the Braves to lead all scorers. ISU beats Bradley, ends six-game losing streak to Braves
NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Freshman Jack Daughtery hit seven three-pointers and scored 25 points to lead Illinois State past Bradley, 82-71, in an I-74 rivalry game at CEFCU Arena on Wednesday. The Redbirds snapped a six-game losing streak to Bradley and a three-game Missouri Valley losing streak in the process. Daughtery hit a trio of three-pointers to help ISU run out to a 35-27 lead at halftime. Bradley, which got 16 points apiece from Duke Deen and Zek Montgomery, closed the ISU lead to 40-37 early in the second half but could get no closer. ISU built a 14-point with about eight minutes to play and went 19 of 24 from the free throw line in the second half to secure the win. Johnny Kinziger, who had to be stitched up after taking a shot above his left eye in the first half, scored 19 points for ISU (16-12, 8-9.
