House Republicans warn anti-ICE rhetoric from Democrats is driving violent attacks on agents

President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration and deportation rollout has ignited anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests across the United States. House Republicans told Fox News Digital there is a parallel between Democrats' rhetoric against federal immigration officers amid this crackdown and the surge in violence against ICE and Border Protection (CBP) officers. "The increasingly violent attacks against law enforcement are being egged on by irresponsible Democratic politicians," Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., said in an exclusive interview. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem on Monday blamed Democrats' "sanctuary city policies" for the shooting of an off-duty CBP officer in New York City. A second illegal immigrant has been apprehended in connection to the shooting of the CBP officer. He was reportedly struck in the face and forearm in Manhattan's Riverside Park on Saturday night. Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican national who was caught by Border Patrol in April 2023, was taken into custody following the shooting. "Without enforcing our immigration laws, we have no immigration laws," McClintock continued. "Without immigration laws, we have no border, and without a border we have no country. And that's what Americans suffered for four long years with the open borders policies of the Biden administration." Democrat Sens. Alex Padilla and Cory Booker, two of the leading Capitol Hill critics of Trump's illegal immigration crackdown, have introduced legislation that would require immigration enforcement officers to clearly identify themselves without masks. Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga, told Fox News Digital that he has "absolutely" seen an increase in violence, explaining that when a member of Congress uses "radical rhetoric," people take it to heart. "We should be applauding them. We should be thankful to them. They are literally removing criminal aliens from our midst and making us a safer nation. And yet these radical Democrats are inflaming the public. And as a result, you're seeing more violence against them. And it's unconscionable that they do that," Clyde said. Federal immigration law enforcement officers have been targeted since Trump signed his "big, beautiful bill" into law, which includes legislation for robust immigration reform. There were at least two ambushes in Texas, and protesters clashed with federal officers at the Portland, Oregon, ICE facility, over the Fourth of July weekend. Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., told Fox News Digital that there has been "growing rhetoric by many on the Democratic side" from everyone except Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa. Particularly in Los Angeles, Guest pointed to California Gov. Gavin Newsom's and Mayor Karen Bass' anti-ICE rhetoric as protests delved into riots in the West Coast city last month. Bass has signed a series of executive orders aimed at impeding ICE deportation raids in Los Angeles, criticizing the "unconstitutional, reckless raids" and establishing a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) working group that expands resources for families impacted by Trump's deportation rollout. "When we have Democrats constantly attacking our ICE agents for what they're doing, demonizing them for enforcing the law, that is going to create more violence, and the situation is going to get worse and not better," Guest added. Rep. Mariannette Miller‑Meeks, R‑Iowa, added in an interview with Fox News Digital that it's "unreal to me that people are attacking law enforcement agents trying to do their job." She said the emphasis should be on supporting ICE and CBP agents. "Keep the focus on deporting criminal illegals, people that are bad actors that should be out of the country, focusing on the influence of gangs and cartels in this country," Miller-Meeks added, urging her fellow House Republicans to remind Americans that these deportations are necessary due to the surge of illegal immigration under the Biden administration. Fox News Digital reached out to Biden's office for comment but did not immediately hear back.

N.J. Rep. LaMonica McIver faces arraignment on federal assault charges

New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver is due back in court Wednesday to face arraignment on related to a clash at the ICE detention facility at Delaney Hall in Newark. McIver's supporters, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and immigrants rights groups, rallied outside of federal court in Newark to call for the charges to be dropped. In a statement, McIver said she would plead not guilty. McIver is facing charges for the same May incident which resulted in Newark Mayor Ras Baraka's arrest, although trespassing charges against Baraka have since been dropped. Interim New Jersey U.S. Attorney Alina Habba has nonetheless moved forward with the charges against McIver. If convicted, she faces eight years in What happened at Delaney Hall Back in May, McIver was with Baraka and two other members of Congress to conduct federal oversight of Delaney Hall, a 1,000-bed facility that ICE is using as a detention center. The facility has been the site of numerous protests over conditions there, and Baraka has challenged the federal government over it, saying the facility lacked the proper permits to reopen be put to use. The Department of Homeland Security initially claimed the group of lawmakers came "storming into [the] detention facility" as part of a "bizarre political stunt." A scuffle ensued, resulting in Baraka's arrest. McIver was charged after a DHS agent alleged in an affidavit she and others attempted to stop Baraka's arrest by forming a human shield around him, and that she "slammed her forearm into the body" of a uniformed agent and "reached out and tried to restrain" the agent from grabbing Baraka. In footage posted online by DHS, McIver, wearing a red jacket, can be seen along the Delaney Hall fence as Baraka is being arrested. As the group of protesters and law enforcement start to brush up against each other, McIver is spotted using her elbows to move herself past an officer In the days since the incident, a group of detainees broke out of the facility through a hole in the wall. Almost all have been recaptured, though one remains at large. contributed to this report.

Dodgers break silence on ICE agents descending on their stadium

The Los Angeles Dodgers have revealed they declined a request from ICE agents to access the parking lots of their stadium on Thursday morning. A number of ICE agents were spotted descending on Dodger Stadium just after 10am local time, before reports emerged claiming they were denied entry to the grounds of the ballpark. The Dodgers added that their scheduled game against the San Diego Padres will go ahead as planned at 7:10pm local time. The incident comes just two weeks after anti-ICE riots wreaked havoc on downtown LA and spawned other demonstrations across the country. At least four Department of Homeland Security vehicles were seen near the stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday morning, the LA Times reported. Dozens of federal agents, masked and wearing tactical gear, initially gathered at the stadium's downtown gate to conduct a briefing. The agents then dispersed to various locations in the area, but a small group of agents were still seen on the premises shortly after 11am. Los Angeles City Council District 1 workers alerted LAPD of the 'staging' at the stadium, a local elected official told ABC 7. A group of apparent protesters have since assembled outside the gate. Police have been asked to intervene, another insider claimed. Demonstrators were seen waving protest signs and chanting 'ICE out of LA' almost two weeks since immigration enforcement raids began in the city. As ICE protests were ramped up last week, a national anthem singer sparked controversy after ignoring a request from the Dodgers to sing the American national anthem in English before their game against the San Francisco Giants. Dominican singer Nezza, 30, claimed the baseball team tried to stop her performing the Star Spangled Banner in Spanish before she did it anyway as a show of solidarity with ICE protestors in the city.

ICE agents denied entry to Dodger Stadium amid anti-immigration enforcement protests

As anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests continue in Los Angeles, dozens of federal ICE agents were seen near Dodger Stadium on Thursday, in what appeared to be a staging area, but were denied entry to the famed ballpark. The agents were dressed in tactical gear and gathered on the street that leads into the stadium in the Elysian Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The official Los Angeles Dodgers social media account took to X on Thursday, saying that the agents were not allowed to enter the stadium grounds. MORE: Man charged with purchasing explosives to attack police at LA protests: DOJ "This morning, ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. They were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. Tonight's game will be played as scheduled," the organization said. The Department of Homeland Security responded on X, saying the officers' appearance at the stadium "had nothing to do with the Dodgers." "CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly, unrelated to any operation or enforcement," DHS said. A small group of protesters was also seen near the stadium on Thursday as demonstrations in the city, which began on June 6, continue for nearly two weeks. The Dodgers organization had previously been facing growing criticism from protesters for not speaking out about the immigration raids that have been frequent in Los Angeles. "The largest economic engine in this area is silent! Wake up! Do better! We know you can!" Raul Claros of California Rising said at a news conference, pointing to Dodger Stadium behind him. The demonstration comes after reports of a string of ICE raids in Los Angeles on Thursday, including one outside of a nearby Home Depot on Sunset Boulevard earlier in the day. MORE: LA protests timeline: How ICE raids sparked demonstrations and Trump to send in the military Los Angeles City Council District 1 workers alerted the Los Angeles Police Department of the ICE staging near Dodger Stadium, local officials told ABC News' Los Angeles station, KABC. The Police Department then notified the Dodgers organization, which allegedly told the ICE agents to leave the property, according to KABC, however, small group of federal agents were still at the location shortly after 11 a.m. This comes as President Donald Trump has recently instructed ICE officers to do "all in their power" to oversee the largest mass deportation program in history. "In order to achieve this, we must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside," Trump wrote in a lengthy social media post over the weekend. In the first 100 days of the second term of the Trump administration, ICE made over 66,000 arrests, according to the federal agency as deportation efforts have since continued.
