Gold price prediction: Gold rate to go up? Here's what analysts say
Gold price is set to remain within the ceiling range as gold rate closed at $3,358.30 on Friday. There are multiple factors that will drive the bullion price in the upcoming days. Traders will closely watch Fed Chair Jerome Powell's speech and global PMI data from major economies, including the US, UK and Eurozone. The European Central Bank's interest rate decision will also be closely tracked for cues on the bullion price trajectory, analysts said. However, if some factors work in favour of gold price, gold rate will increase. With the August 1 deadline coming closer, uncertainty around trade talks is likely to support gold's safe-haven demand. Corporation achieves water plus status under Swachh Survekshan 2024
Thiruvananthapuram: The corporation was officially declared a 'Water Plus' city under Swachh Survekshan 2024. Thiruvananthapuram corporation is the first in the state to achieve this certification. It acknowledges the city's comprehensive efforts in maintaining sanitation and ensuring the safe treatment and disposal of wastewater. The Water Plus certification was awarded based on a detailed assessment that confirmed Thiruvananthapuram meets all essential criteria, including the prevention of untreated wastewater entering open areas, drains or water bodies. The assessment covered key zones under the corporation where critical facilities and activities were evaluated. These included public and community toilets, households, the STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) at Muttathara, septic tank management and the collection and transportation of faecal sludge. The corporation's application for certification was submitted earlier in 2024, followed by a rigorous verification process by an independent agency appointed by the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA). Security forces have arrested four militants belonging to different proscribed outfits from Imphal East and West districts of Manipur, police said on Sunday. IIMK, Tata Power to collaborate in training professionals in power sector
The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on capacity building, training, and knowledge development in the power distribution sector. The agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at building a pipeline of skilled, future-ready professionals equipped to address the evolving challenges of the energy sector in Indian and global markets. The MoU was formally signed by Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIMK, on behalf of the institute and Praveen Agrawal on behalf of Tata Power-DDL. Under the agreement, the IIMK and Tata Power-DDL will jointly design and deliver specialised training and development programmes for power sector professionals, with focus on future-oriented themes such as smart grids, distributed generation, renewable integration, electric mobility, and artificial intelligence applications in power systems. The collaboration will also include joint research, workshops, faculty exchanges, and consultancy projects across national and international contexts. The focus areas of the partnership will include energy transition and decarbonisation, smart grid management and resilience, digital transformation, leadership development, sustainability and ESG integration, technology roadmap planning, and organisational change management. The initiative is designed to bridge industry practice with academic insight, driving innovation and fostering future-readiness across the power value chain. The collaboration also facilitates the IIMK to invite experts from Tata Power-DDL to its global conclaves and thought leadership events, and for both organisations to jointly pursue consulting and simulation assignments. The MoU will remain in effect for five years and signifies a long-term partnership dedicated to innovation, sustainable practices, and skilling for the power sector.

IIM Kozhikode Welcomes MBA Class Of 2025–27 With Over 50% Women Candidates
Last Updated: IIM Kozhikode has inducted 586 students into its 2025–27 MBA programmes, achieving 51% women representation across all three full-time postgraduate courses. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has officially inducted 586 students into its full-time postgraduate programmes for the 2025–2027 academic cycle, achieving a notable milestone with 51% women representation across its three MBA programmes. The induction ceremony was led by Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, with Aju Jacob, Managing Director of Synthite Industries, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest. A total of 586 students were inducted across IIMK's three full-time Post Graduate programmes – the flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP in Finance (PGP-Fin), and PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM). This year, IIM Kozhikode has achieved an impressive 51% women representation across its full-time MBA programmes — the fourth time in a decade that women have outnumbered men in its incoming class. This achievement challenges traditional gender gaps in Indian management education. The incoming cohort has an average age of 24 years and an average work experience of two years. Students from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh make up 35% of the class, while Kerala, the host state of the institute, is represented by 23 students. The batch reflects rich national diversity. In addition to the MBA programmes, the institute also welcomed its 19th batch of PhD scholars, with 31 students — the largest-ever doctoral intake at IIM Kozhikode. The flagship PGP-29 batch includes 489 students, of which 55% are women, significantly higher than the 36% women in the overall CAT 2024 applicant pool. The batch also shows strong academic diversity with 53% non-engineers — reversing the long-standing engineering dominance in B-schools. Seven international students from Canada, USA, UK, and the UAE have also joined the programme. Highlighting IIM Kozhikode's deep-rooted commitment to diversity and inclusion, Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee stated, 'Diversity is not a statistic for us – it is a strategic imperative. We are shaping future leaders who will thrive in a complex, pluralistic world. This cohort reflects the values we stand for: inclusion, intellect, and innovation. We have continually endeavored to create an inclusive academic community where varied perspectives and experiences enrich the learning process and prepare our students to become global leaders." Before today's formal inauguration, students participated in a four-day immersion programme (June 16–19) to get familiar with the campus, culture, and curriculum.
