The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur has appointed Prof Neeraj Dwivedi as its new director, bringing on board a seasoned academic and strategic leader with over 25 years of experience across education, industry, and executive alumnus of IIM Lucknow, Professor Dwivedi holds a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in Strategic Management. His academic journey also includes an MTech from IIT Kharagpur and a BTech from GB Pant University, Pantnagar, reflecting a strong foundation in both engineering and management joining IIM Kashipur, Professor Dwivedi served as a Professor of Strategic Management at IIM Lucknow. During his tenure, he took on several key leadership roles, such as Dean (Faculty and Programmes), Chairperson for Post-Graduate Programmes, Admissions, Student Affairs & Placements, and was also a member of the Board of Governors. He played an instrumental role in helping the institute earn its AACSB accreditation, a significant milestone in global academic standards. Notably, he was the national convener for the Common Admission Test (CAT) in 2017, successfully managing the smooth execution of one of India's most competitive and large-scale entrance Dwivedi's academic career spans leading institutions, including IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, and the School of Management at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. Prior to his transition into academia, he spent nearly seven years in the corporate sector, gaining valuable experience with renowned organisations such as NTPC, Indian Oil, ONGC, Samsung, McKinsey & Co., and Tata for his thought leadership in areas like strategic management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and leadership development, Professor Dwivedi has received several awards over the years. These include the Best Case Award at the Strategic Management Forum Convention at IIM Bangalore (2010), Overall Best Research Paper Award at the IAMB Conference in San Antonio (2013), and Best Doctoral Student Paper Award at IAMB Rome (2014).His elective course on Mergers and Acquisitions was twice voted the Best Strategy Elective at IIM Lucknow. Most recently, one of his co-authored papers earned the Runner-up award for Best Paper at the INDAM Conference held in Goa (2024).Expressing his vision for IIM Kashipur, Professor Dwivedi said, 'It is indeed an honour for me to take on the role of Director at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur has announced the appointment of Prof Neeraj Dwivedi as its new director. Prof Dwivedi has over 25 years of experience spanning academia, the corporate sector, and executive leadership. He is an alumnus of IIM Lucknow, who has completed his Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in Strategic Management. He also holds an MTech from IIT Kharagpur and a BTech from GB Pant University, Pantnagar. He joins IIM Kashipur from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, where he served as Professor of Strategic Management and held several senior leadership roles, including Dean (Faculty and Programmes), Chairperson of Post-graduate Programmes, Admissions, Student Affairs & Placements, and Member of the Board of Governors. As per a statement by IIM-K, Prof Dwivedi has helped IIM Lucknow in achieving the institute's AACSB accreditation. Notably, he served as the national convener for CAT 2017, overseeing the seamless conduct of one of India's largest and most complex competitive examinations. His earlier associations included the Indian Institute of Management Indore, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, and the School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Apart from this, Prof Dwivedi also worked in industry for about 7 years before shifting to academics. He has worked with some of the big organisations, including NTPC, Indian Oil, ONGC, Samsung, McKinsey & Co., Tata Play, among others. Known for his expertise in strategic management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and leadership development, he continues to receive feedback from executives and students alike. His academic excellence has been recognised through multiple accolades, including the Best Case Award at the Strategic Management Forum Convention at IIM Bangalore (2010), Overall Best Research Paper Award at the IAMB Conference in San Antonio (2013), and Best Doctoral Student Paper Award at IAMB Rome (2014). IIM Kashipur signs agreement with evACAD to launch clean energy and sustainability programmes

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur, Uttarakhand has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with pManifold EV Academy Pvt. Ltd. ( evACAD ), based in Nagpur, to collaborate on programmes related to clean energy technologies, carbon markets, green finance , ESG, circular economy , and sustainability. The MoU was signed by Prof. Kunal Ganguly, Dean (Development), IIM Kashipur , and Mr. Rahul Bagdia, Chairman and Managing Director of evACAD, in the presence of Prof. Vaibhav Bhamoriya and other faculty members of IIM Kashipur. As part of this collaboration, the institutions will launch the Post Graduate Executive Certificate Programme in net zero strategy and sustainability leadership . The course is designed for working professionals from engineering, energy, oil and gas, power, consulting, corporate finance, and sustainability sectors. It aims to provide participants with an understanding of the challenges associated with sustainability and clean energy transitions. The programme will include topics such as climate systems, decarbonisation technologies , carbon markets, net zero pathways, and sustainable business models. It will also focus on analytical skills and cross-functional leadership abilities required to implement sustainability strategies in various organisations. Training for practical implementation Structured around the themes of People, Planet, and Profit, the course will involve engagement strategies, case-based learning, and teamwork. Participants will gain insight into climate risk and economics, circular economy practices, and new financing methods for sustainability-related projects. Prof. Kunal Ganguly said, 'IIM Kashipur is seeking new horizons and training professionals to be relevant and orchestrate change for a better planet through business. While the challenges they face are many, this programme aims to be the way ahead towards attaining business and societal goals." Rahul Bagdia stated, 'This collaboration will help us impart values and knowledge to the next generation of management leaders whom the industries will look upon to steer the challenging task of transitioning to a net-zero future.' A recent post on X by user Siddharth Gopi raised concerns after claiming that IIM Kashipur asked unplaced students to officially opt out of the placement process. The post quickly went viral, leading to confusion amongst students and the response, IIM Kashipur clarified that the email was part of a regular process required for placement data declarations help make sure that students who get jobs on their own or go for higher studies are not wrongly shown as unplaced. The institute also said it is fully supporting all students who are still looking for jobs and remains committed to being IIM KASHIPUR CLARIFIES? According to IIM Kashipur, several students either choose to pursue job opportunities independently or opt out of placements for personal or professional reasons. To ensure such cases are not mistakenly classified as 'unplaced,' the institute collects signed declarations from students as per the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS), under which it has been releasing third-party audited placement reports for the past two years.'The email was sent by the Student Placement Committee to correctly categorise students and better support those who are genuinely unplaced,' an official statement said. 'The declaration process ensures accurate classification and integrity in data shared with future recruiters.'The institute reassured that unplaced students will continue to receive full placement support and added that over 180 companies have been invited for placements this year. The audited placement report will soon be published on the official IIM Kashipur website.

Last Updated: The email sent by the Student Placement Committee was intended to accurately categorise students and better support those who are currently unplaced, IIM Kashipur said. A recent post on microblogging site X shared by Siddharth Gopi, Co-founder of claimed that IIM Kashipur has asked unplaced students to officially opt out of the placement process. Students are being asked to exclude themselves from the placement process so that the institute can claim 100 per cent placement, the post stated. In response, IIM Kashipur has clarified that the it is part of a regular process required for placement data audits and assured support to students who are still 'unplaced". Some students either seek job opportunities outside the placement process or decide not to participate in placements for various personal or professional reasons. Hence, the email sent by the Student Placement Committee was intended to accurately categorise students and better support those who are currently unplaced, the IIM said. The institute added that it will continue to be provide support to all unplaced students. IIM Kashipur said it publishes third-party audited placement reports in accordance with the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) for the past two years as it helps maintain transparency, the institute said. As part of this auditing process, it is required to collect signed declarations from each student— based on the classification table provided — to ensure that students who have secured jobs off-campus or are pursuing further education are not incorrectly classified as 'unplaced", the institute further clarified. 'To ensure transparency, IIM Kashipur has been publishing third-party audited placement reports in accordance with the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) for the past two years, and we will continue to do so. As part of the auditing process, we are required to maintain signed declarations from each student—based on the classification table provided—without which students who have secured jobs off-campus or are pursuing further education would be incorrectly classified as 'unplaced", the IIM said in a statement. 'This classification not only helps in maintaining accurate records but also ensures that we provide correct data to prospective recruiters. The intent behind the email sent by the Student Placement Committee was to appropriately categorise students and to better support those who are currently unplaced. The email also clearly states that support will continue to be extended to all unplaced students," it added. IIM Kashipur has invited over 180 companies this year, it said. The audited placement report will soon be released on the official IIM Kashipur website.
