Indo-German Medical Conference: Lt Gen Ashok Jindal highlights AI-based emergency care, remote monitoring systems as equity-driven solutions
AIIMS Raipur showcased its AI-driven healthcare innovations at the InDeMed conference in Dresden, Germany. Lt Gen Ashok Jindal presented AIIMS Raipur's Intelligent Emergency Care System (iECS) and automated triage, developed with IIT Bhilai. RAIPUR: Two senior doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, Executive Director and CEO Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (retd) and Prof (Dr) Debjyoti Mohanty, Head of the Department of General Surgery, represented India at the InDeMed: Indo-German Medical Partnership Conference in Dresden, Germany, held from July 16 to 18. The conference focused on "Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality, and Robotics in Healthcare: Emerging Pathways from Diagnosis to Therapy" and brought together around 40 global leaders and domain experts. Lt Gen Jindal delivered a presentation on "Strategic Implementation of AI-Enabled Remote Monitoring in Public Healthcare Systems." He highlighted the shift from reactive to proactive care in public healthcare through artificial intelligence, particularly in areas with limited resources. His presentation was well-received by international delegates and organisers. Lt Gen Jindal showcased two initiatives from AIIMS Raipur: Intelligent Emergency Care System (iECS): Developed with IIT Bhilai, this AI-powered Clinical Decision Support System provides real-time guidance to emergency care providers for faster and more accurate decisions. Automated Triage in Emergency Room (ER): Another collaboration between AIIMS Raipur and IIT Bhilai, this system uses predictive models to categorise patients based on potential adverse outcomes, improving operational efficiency and patient safety in the emergency department. Lt Gen Jindal also emphasised the role of AI-powered remote monitoring in strengthening public health systems, especially in rural and underserved regions. He stated that these systems are not just technological upgrades but equity-driven interventions that enable scalable, inclusive, and preventive care across India. Lt Gen Jindal, known for his expertise in developing sustainable models for technology use in public health systems, was recently interviewed by the IITI DRISHTI CPS Foundation. The interview, published in their national outreach bulletin DRISHTIKON, highlighted his contributions to integrating AI and digital innovation into India's public health system. Raipur: In a significant stride towards bolstering Indo-German academic and research collaboration, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Siegen, Germany. The agreement aims to foster joint research, academic exchange, and collaborative projects between the two institutions. University of Siegen Rector Prof (Dr) Stefanie Reese and IIT Bhilai Director Prof Rajiv signed the MoU. A key highlight of this partnership is the establishment of a Joint Centre on "Sensors" at IIT Bhilai. This centre will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research and innovation in sensor technologies, with co-management by experts from both institutions. The signing ceremony took place at the University of Siegen, where the heads of both institutions formally endorsed the agreement. Dr Ramanuj Banerjee, representing the Indian Embassy in Germany, was present and lauded the initiative as a meaningful step in deepening bilateral cooperation in science and technology. IIT Bhilai signs MOU with France's IMT Nord Europe for joint UG, PG degrees initiatives
The Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Institut Mines Telecom (IMT) Nord Europe to foster international academic and research partnerships between India and France. Prof. Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, signed this agreement on behalf of IIT Bhilai and the Office of International Affairs at IIT Bhilai. The agreement is formalised to advance joint actions in matters of reciprocal interest between IMT Nord Europe and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai. The parties have signed this agreement, which seeks to promote bidirectional cooperation links that contribute to the objectives of both institutions and, at the same time, allow them to contribute to the educational, social, and cultural development of the territories. Under this agreement, undergraduate and postgraduate students from IIT Bhilai will have the opportunity to study in France and earn joint degrees, thereby gaining invaluable international exposure. The collaboration will focus on several key areas, including Mechanical Engineering, Polymer and Composite Materials, Mechatronics, and Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, as mentioned in the press release. Meanwhile, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) have been conducting counselling for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other institutions. While JoSAA is responsible for conducting counselling for IIT admission and for the NIT+ system (NIT, IIIT, etc), CSAB conducts counselling only for the NIT+ system. JoSAA will be regulating the joint seat allocation for admissions to 127 institutes for the academic year 2025-26. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 46 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). The registration and choice filling for JoSAA round 1 counselling will begin on June 3. The seat allocation process through JoSAA would involve six normal rounds. After this, the CSAB will conduct two special vacant seat filling rounds for the NIT+ system. IIT-Bhilai signs 2 MoUs with govt to boost heritage research & sustainable tourism
Raipur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Chhattisgarh govt to incubate socially relevant research for the holistic development of the state. The MoUs were signed with the directorate of archaeology, archives and museums, govt of Chhattisgarh, and the Chhattisgarh tourism board. The ceremony took place in the auditorium of the Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum at Raipur, on the first day of a three-day national seminar titled The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities, organised by the govt. The MoU with the directorate of archaeology envisions documentation of protected and unprotected historical sites and monuments in Chhattisgarh. It also includes building a knowledge repository in the form of a library and XR museum highlighting Chhattisgarh's history and heritage at IIT Bhilai , and establishing a faculty chair in heritage studies at IIT Bhilai to attract top global talent. The MoU with the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board envisages incubation of research on augmenting Chhattisgarh's tourism potential in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
