1 2 3 Itanagar: Police detained 39 people on Monday for residing or working in Arunachal Pradesh without valid inner line permits (ILPs), in violation of Section 3 of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act, 1873. They were detained during the ILP enforcement drive targeted key locations, including Banderdewa, Karsingsa, Naharlagun town, and Papu Hills, said Itanagar Capital Region SP Nyelam Nega. Personnel from the Banderdewa, Naharlagun, and Papu Hills police stations carried out inspections at labour camps, work sites, and roadside establishments. All violators were forwarded to the executive magistrate for legal action. At Banderdewa police station, a non-FIR case was registered against three prsons by a team led by inspector Kipa Hamak. In Naharlagun, 30 people were detained by a team led by inspector Krishnendu Dev, and non-FIR cases were registered against them. Meanwhile, inspector Tarun Mai's team detained six persons at Papu Hills. SP Nega said all checks were conducted peacefully and in accordance with legal procedure. Itanagar: As many as 219 individuals without valid Inner Line Permits (ILPs) were externed from the Itanagar Capital Region on Friday, police said. The violators were detected during an enforcement drive conducted by Naharlagun police across Papu Hills, Naharlagun, Nirjuli, and Banderdewa, as part of the ongoing initiative to uphold the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said. "Each case was verified and processed under non-FIR provisions, and the violators were handed over to the executive magistrate. They were subsequently externed from the Capital Region," he said. Highlighting the growing number of ILP violations in the Itanagar Capital Region, particularly at markets, construction sites, and commercial establishments, the SP urged residents and employers not to engage outsiders lacking valid ILPs. "Regular ILP enforcement drives will continue in the coming days. All non-Arunachali individuals must carry valid ILP documents at all times and cooperate with the authorities," the SP added.

Mizroam to boost online ILP as Bairabi-Sairang line nears completion

Aizawl: A meeting chaired by Mizoram CM Lalduhoma on Monday discussed about streamlining of online Inner Line Permit (ILP) mechanism and raising of railway police to man six proposed railway stations in the state as the Bairabi-Sairang 51.38km railway project is expected to be commissioned by July. The meeting reviewed the new ILP guidelines and suggestions for additional provisions as well as operating online ILP Phase-2 and crackdown on the non-tribals who overstay the period of their ILPs. The issue of raising railway police was also deliberated in the meeting. It was reported in the meeting that the state department of personnel & administrative reforms (DP&AR) had approved raising the railway police and creation of posts for the purpose. Home minister K Sapdanga told TOI that initiatives have been taken encouraging the youths of the state to join the Railway Protection Force (RPF) or the Govt Railway Police (GRP) so that they can be deployed at the railway stations in the state.
