Three held for robbery at Bagru jewellery shop
Jaipur: Four days after armed men took customers and staff of a jewellery showroom in Bagru area hostage at gunpoint and escaped with gold worth about Rs 70 lakh, city police arrested three robbers for the crime. Two of the arrested robbers reportedly told police that they were lodged together in prison and were released on bail in an Arms Act case from Jaipur Central Jail. After coming out, they started working at a private company in Bagru but soon began planning a heist to make quick money.
DCP (west) Amit Kumar said the robbers conducted reconnaissance at several locations, including a Muthoot Finance office. Eventually, they decided to target
Ratneshwari Jewellers
, a shop owned by Manmohan Sharma and located in Juggal Bazaar, Bagru. The incident, which took place on July 22, created panic and anger among local residents due to the daredevil manner in which the robbery was carried out.
Police arrested Kanhaiya Lal Sharma alias Chinku Pandit, 20, Sohail Pathan, 20, and Pyare Lal Luhar, 37. A fourth accused, Kaushal, a resident of Bagru, is absconding. Police said Kanhaiya and Pyare Lal were working at IML Containers Private Limited in Bagru RIICO area, while Sohail was called from Jodhpur for the robbery.
