Love, cricket & a balcony proposal: A sneak peek into Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan's fairytale

CREDIT: INSTAGRAM/JASPRITB1 In a world where glamour and cricket incessantly converge, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and sports reporter and Indian journalist Sanjana Ganesan's story shines brighter than a diamond. Their style and personal stories are quintessential of mutual admiration, subtle romance, and coincidence. It was in the 2013-14 season of IPL that Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan first met, when Jasprit was ascending his stairs to success. Sanjana is a popular media face who, as per routine, was interviewing players of the team and had a small conversation with Bumrah. This was the same time when the two didn't interact much, nor were there any visible signs of a spark between them. But as is the case, true love waits. Destiny, since then, has had different plans for them. CREDIT: INSTAGRAM/JASPRITB1 A few years later, when there was the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England, they met again, but this time the magic was not lost. Interestingly, in an interview, Sanjana shared that at first, she had thought Bumrah was already dating someone, so that kept her from making any overtures toward him. A perfect proposal? YES, PLEASE In the IPL 2020 held in the UAE, out of everybody's sight, Bumrah proposed in a humble yet true way. His now-famous lines, "Balcony me chalo" (come to the balcony), led to a moment that went on to change the direction of their lives forever. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Get ₹2Cr life cover@ ₹700 p.m. ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo No drama, no grand gestures; still, Sanjana said, Yes to Bumrah. The wedding itself was small, with only near and dear ones who attended the wedding, while the media was kept at bay. Not long after their marriage, their joy tripled with the arrival of their son, Angad Bumrah, on September 4, 2023. "Started journaling after Shikhar paaji suggested it": Abhishek on mental preparation behind IPL ton

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 8 (ANI): On a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show, cricketer Abhishek Sharma opened up about a small but meaningful habit, pulling out a chit from his pocket after scoring a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL). When asked about it, he shared that it was part of his journaling and manifestation practice, something he started years ago on the advice of former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan. 'I started journaling a long time back. Shikhar Paaji once told me it's helpful, and it really has been over the last 2-3 years,' he said, reflecting on how those mental routines kept him grounded through the highs and lows of the season. Abhishek Sharma lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a jaw-dropping knock of 141 off just 55 balls against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Hyderabad, drawing praise from cricketing legends. The left-hander's innings, decorated with 14 boundaries and 10 sixes, came at a staggering strike rate of 256.36 and will go down as one of the most explosive knocks in IPL history. With this knock, Abhishek made history, hitting the highest individual score by an Indian player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The 24-year-old player has overtaken KL Rahul (132 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2020) as the player with the highest score by an Indian in IPL history. Overall, next to Chris Gayle (175* for RCB against Pune Warriors India in 2013) and Brendon McCullum (for Kolkata Knight Riders against RCB in 2008), this is the third-highest individual score in IPL history. The youngster hit 116 of his runs in boundaries, breaking the record of Jonny Bairstow (90) for most runs in an innings by an SRH batter via boundaries. Also, his 10 sixes are the most by an SRH player in an innings, overtaking David Warner's eight. (ANI)

Hardik Pandya (Traded from Gujarat Titans) 1 / 10 Gujarat Titans traded their title-winning captain Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians for Rs 15 crore in an all-cash deal ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Pandya returned to MI, his original franchise, after leading Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in 2022 and this is considered as one of the biggest trades in league's history. It was a strategic move from Mumbai Indians to reclaim past glory but Hardik didn't have great success as MI captain in the last two IPL seasons. 2. Trent Boult (Traded from Delhi Capitals) 2 / 10 Delhi Capitals traded Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.2 crore in an all-cash deal ahead of the IPL 2020 season. Boult's inclusion won MI the title in the very first year with the left-arm pacer taking 25 wickets, averaging 18.3 during the IPL 2020 season. 3. Quinton de Kock (Traded from RCB) 3 / 10 Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) traded Quinton de Kock to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2.8 crore in an all-cash deal after his underwhelming 2018 season. De Kock scored 529 runs in 2019 and 503 runs in 2020 and formed a formidable opening pair with Rohit Sharma and contributed to MI's titles in both years, making this trade a masterstroke. 4. Parthiv Patel (Traded from RCB) 4 / 10 Mumbai Indians traded for wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2015 season. The move turned out to be fruitful for Mumbai Indians as Parthiv played a crucial role in MI's title wins in 2015 and 17 by providing the much-needed stability at the top of the order. 5. Dinesh Karthik (Traded from Punjab) 5 / 10 With Mumbai Indians needing a specialist wicket-keeper, the franchise signed Dinesh Karthik in a player-plus-cash deal with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in exchange for R Sathish ahead of the 2012 season. Karthik's experience and batting prowess played a key role in MI's first IPL title win in 2013, making him a key trade acquisition. Karthik smashed 510 runs in 16 games during IPL 2013 season. 6. Pragyan Ojha (Traded from Deccan Chargers) 6 / 10 Pragyan Ojha was traded from Deccan Chargers to Mumbai before the IPL 2012 season. Ojha filled a critical gap in MI's spin department and made a huge contribution in MI's first IPL title win in 2013 by taking 16 wickets in as many games. 7. Jason Behrendorff (Traded from RCB) 7 / 10 A member of the Mumbai Indians' victorious 2019 IPL winning team, Jason Behrendorff returned back to the franchise in a trade deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore. His impact at MI was immediate with his performances in IPL 2023, as the Aussie pacer claimed 14 wickets in 12 outings as a new-ball specialist. 8. Zaheer Khan (Traded from RCB) 8 / 10 Zaheer Khan was traded to Mumbai Indians from Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in exchange for Robin Uthappa ahead of the 2009 season. Zaheer picked six wickets in the 2009 edition and 15 scalps in the 2010 IPL edition, playing a major role in carrying MI to the final. 9. Shikhar Dhawan (Traded from Delhi) 9 / 10 Shikhar Dhawan was traded to Mumbai Indians in a straight-player swap with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) with Ashish Nehra going the other way. Shikhar played for MI for two seasons (2009 and 2010) and registered 345 runs in 19 games across the IPL and the Champions League T20. 10. Jayant Yadav (Traded from Delhi Capitals) 10 / 10 Jayant Yadav was traded to Mumbai Indians from Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2019 IPL season. Yadav played a crucial role for MI in the IPL 2020 final as he picked the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan and was their most economical bowler in the match with just 25 runs conceded as they cantered to a win.

'Balcony Mein...': Sanjana Ganesan Reveals How Jasprit Bumrah Proposed To Her During IPL

Last Updated: Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan have revealed the hilarious story of their engagement -- that happened in the middle of IPL 2020! Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan, have revealed the story of their engagement in the middle of IPL 2020 in the UAE, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The power couple got married in 2021 after over two years of dating and now have a son, Angad, who was born in 2023. In an interview with former cricketer Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra, Bumrah spilled the beans on how he got a bubble-to-bubble transfer arranged by speaking to IPL officials, decorated his room, and even lit up candles on the balcony. Ganesan, on the other hand, admitted being confused by Bumrah's eagerness to take her to the balcony when she entered his room before the surprise was unveiled. 'That was during COVID times. So, there were bubbles for each and every team." Bumrah said on the show, as quoted by Sportskeeda. 'As luck would have it, she was in KKR, and I was with the Mumbai Indians (MI). Both teams were in Abu Dhabi. I carried a ring in the hope that perhaps after the tournament ends, I'll get a chance. Apart from the ground interactions, we couldn't meet because of the bubble." 'So, she was out. Then, I had to tell people that look, I've brought this ring. Please arrange a bubble-to-bubble transfer. So, that transfer happened. When she arrived, I did everything myself. I placed the cake myself, decorated everything in my room and I had the ring ready," the pacer added. Ganesan recalled her side of the story, saying: 'I've come to the room and he's telling me, 'balcony mein chalo' (come to the balcony). I am like, I've just walked in, at least give me water. But he's like, nahi nahi balcony mein chalo (no, no come to the balcony)." Bumrah and Ganesan are currently together in England, where India are playing a five-Test series under the banner of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Bumrah was India's best bowler in the first Test at Headingley but couldn't prevent a five-wicket defeat on the final day. There's speculation galore over whether he'll play the second match in Birmingham or if the management would choose to manage his workload instead. First Published:
