‘MGUG hub of value-based modern education'
Gorakhpur: Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur hosted its induction ceremony on Tuesday for students enrolled in its nursing and paramedical programmes. The event marked formal initiation of students pursuing ANM, B Sc Nursing, Post Basic Nursing, Diploma in Lab Technician, Diploma in Optometry, Diploma in Dialysis, Diploma in Emergency and Trauma Care, Diploma in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Technician and Diploma in Orthopaedic and Plaster Care Technician courses. Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Raghuram Acharya, Dean, IQAC, said MGUG had established itself as a centre of value-based, modern and employment-oriented education. "The university's campus culture serves as a model for others, and every student should feel proud to be a part of this institution," he said. Urging students to remain eager in their pursuit of knowledge, he wished them a bright and successful future. Deputy principal of the nursing college, Princy George, highlighted critical role of nursing and paramedics in the healthcare sector, describing patient care as highest service. Nagpur University Launches New-Age UG Programmes In Drone Tech, Cyber Science
Nagpur: Aligning higher education with emerging technologies and the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Nagpur University (NU) launched two innovative undergraduate degree programmes from the academic year 2025–26: BSc in Drone Technology and BSc in Cyber Science. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now These programmes will be offered at the NU main campus, under a self-financed model, with focus on skill-based, industry-integrated learning. The courses include apprenticeship-embedded training and hands-on project work, with strong industry linkage for internships and placements. The curriculum was co-developed with VDIA Engineering Design Innovation Centre and supported by sectoral experts. Emphasis is on interdisciplinary learning with foundational training in Physics, Mathematics, and IT. BSc Drone Technology introduces students to drone systems, aerial robotics, GIS applications, remote sensing, and regulatory frameworks. It prepares graduates for careers in agriculture tech, defence, logistics, and surveillance. BSc Cyber Science focuses on cybersecurity, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and cyber law. This programme equips students with the skills needed to combat cyber threats in the digital era. Class XII pass students with science/mathematics are eligible for merit-based admission. The admission starts on July 9, and students can visit the admission centre at the Department of Mathematics on the campus. "The launch of these futuristic programmes reflects NU's commitment to innovation, skill development, and employability in the digital age," said Madavi Khode Chavare, acting Vice-Chancellor. Smita Acharya, Director, IQAC, added, "These courses are structured to offer students experiential learning and industry exposure from the first year itself, making them job-ready and globally competitive." Chavare (IAS), Pro-Vice Chancellor Subhash Kondawar, Vedik Director Bhavana Deshpande, DND Managing Director Dushyant Deshpande, IQAC Director Acharya, Ganesh Kedar, and Bhushan Mahajan were present during the signing of the MoU.

Andhra University introduces major administrative & academic reforms
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University has decided to introduce several structural changes aimed at strengthening academic and administrative efficiency. A new dean for faculty affairs has been appointed to address matters and issues related to teaching staff. Similarly, the university has created the dean of alumni relations post for the first time to foster strong connections between alumni and their alma mater. To enhance the university's reputation through academic initiatives and collaborations with industry and govt, a new position, namely dean of outreach, has been introduced. A professor-in-charge has been appointed to oversee courses such as NPTEL, SWAYAM, and MOOCs. Furthermore, a professor-in-charge for university branding and media affairs, along with the IQAC coordinator, will operate in alignment under the purview of the dean of outreach as part of a newly designed structure. A chief coordinator has been appointed for the spot valuation section to reinforce the integrity of the examination system. The roles of the director of admissions and the centre for distance and open learning have now been consolidated under a single new director, who has been entrusted with full responsibility for both domains. In prioritising student welfare, a new dean of student welfare has been appointed. Under this division, the NCC, NSS, and the department of arts have been integrated. A separate dean position has been established to coordinate infrastructure, planning, and management. This division will oversee essential services including civil, electrical, transport, and security operations, and will be responsible for infrastructure development. To further strengthen the research and development division, it has now been integrated under the purview of a dean. The projects and intellectual property rights (IPR) sections have also been brought under this domain, with an in-charge appointed to oversee their functioning. Vice-chancellor Prof GP Rajasekhar said that these institutional changes have been introduced to enhance transparency, accountability, and the efficiency of services at Andhra University. "As part of this, there was a complete restructuring of deans and directors related to the administration. New positions have been created, including dean of faculty affairs, dean of outreach, dean of alumni relations, dean of infrastructure, planning and management, and chief coordinator of spot valuation. Furthermore, several measures are being taken to strengthen the examination evaluation system. It is important to connect the century-old university with its alumni, recognising and honouring their contributions. In this direction, several institutional reforms are being introduced in the university's administration," the V-C added.

Three-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Introductory Universal Human Values (UHV)"
Hyderabad: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sphoorthy Engineering College is organizing a self-financed three-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Introductory Universal Human Values (UHV)" from 8th to 10th May 2025 under the guidance of AICTE. The sessions are being facilitated by Ms. Ridhi Chirag Sachade (Resource Person), Ms. G. Prashanthi (Co-facilitator), and Meera Mirzana (Observer), all from the NCCIP AICTE Regional Panel (RP) team. Secretary and Correspondent Shri S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Principal Dr. V. S. GiridharAkkula, and IQAC Coordinator addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of Universal Human Values in higher education. Sangma bats for preservation of Indian Knowledge Systems
Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma has called for promotion and preservation of the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS). Emphasising on the importance of integration of the material and the spiritual aspects of the IKS, he said traditional knowledge has been the core for healthcare, agriculture, conservation, food preparation, medicine, education. "Meghalaya is an example of how the traditional knowledge and the community has been merged to create a sustainable and an effective form of governance," he said after inaugurating a two-day national seminar on IKS on Thursday, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Lady Keane College , Shillong and funded under Chief Minister's Special Grant.
