This blush-bronzer is the perfect summer beauty product
• This article contains affiliate links that can earn us revenue I am very pleased with today's column because I think I have found the perfect summer product. It is a blush-bronzer hybrid, It Cosmetics Glow with Confidence Sun Blush (£33, and it is so good — the best thing I've come across in years when it comes to making you look healthy, natural and sunkissed. It's a cream and it comes in five shades. The one that I am raving about specifically is called Sun Warmth. I am reasonably confident that it is almost a universal shade, though you might need an extremely light hand if you are the colour of photocopying paper. (Do people still photocopy things or just scan them with their phones? I am old enough to remember when people photocopied their bottoms at drunken office parties. Good times.) On the other hand, IT Cosmetics knows what it's doing and so presumably the shades it deems best for fairer or darker skin work just as well. But Sun Warmth! Sun Warmth is literally perfection. It's a sort of brickish terracotta shade, and on the skin it is exactly — exactly — the colour skin goes just before it burns: that optimal shade that looks amazing for one night only, before it goes red and peels. Do you know what I mean? It's a colour that looks like your skin has absorbed all the heat and sunlight of the day, and that makes everybody much better looking than they actually are, because it evokes fresh air and light and carefreeness and joy. Also, lack of effort. This is a product that looks like the results just happened without any input by you. Products that do this are my favourites and they're also few and far between. In this instance, genius colour aside, the texture has a lot to do with it. It presents as solid in the pot, but it melts on to the skin like a sort of balm — I think we could technically call it a balm, except that 'balm' suggests something that will slide off and this won't. Anyway: its balminess means that you could apply it with your eyes closed and it would still look great. Don't, obviously — apply it with your eyes open a) on your cheekbones and/ or cheeks (higher is better if you're older, because otherwise the colour is too low down when your face is in repose), b) on your temples, c) wherever the sun would naturally hit, including maybe the tip of your nose. The brickish colour of this means that I like applying it in a sort of blurred-out stripe across the centre of my face, from cheekbone to cheekbone and across the nose. With a light hand! Honestly, it is so flattering that I almost laughed out loud in delight. I would suggest using quite a stiff brush rather than anything superfluffy, in a dabbing/stippling motion — but do whatever works best for you. It contains skincare too. To be honest I wouldn't care if it contained weasel pee and chopped up worms, so pleasing is its effect on the skin, but skincare is a nice thing obviously. Skincare is the cherry on the cake. Here we have hyaluronic acid for hydration, vitamin E to feed the skin and our trusty friends peptides, who do everything helpful. What a product! I could not love it more. The pot is huge, by the way, and will last you for ever. PS If you're looking for something to wear underneath, the same brand's CC+ Nude Glow (£38, which I have written about before, is very good. Cook For the Love of Lemons by Letitia Clark (Hardie Grant £28) is a single-theme — lemons! — cookbook that is summer between hard covers. The recipes are Italian or Italianish and lend themselves particularly well to lunch outside under a parasol. The Sunday Times Style Beauty awards are back for 2025. You could win a luxury five-star holiday at Sani Resort in Greece, plus we have more than £25,000 worth of beauty prizes up for grabs. Jenna Bush Hager on the Jet Lag Cure She's Used Since College—Plus, the Caribbean Island She's ‘Obsessed' With
Even though Today Show host Jenna Bush Hager is a celebrity with presidential lineage, she shares a common travel fear with many of us: lost luggage. As a result, she has become an extremely efficient and strategic packer—she will even stick to only a carry-on for a long trip. 'I like to always pack in a carry-on. Even when we left last summer for two weeks, I traveled with a carry-on because I'm always in fear my bag will get lost.' Travel + Leisure caught up with Bush Hager on her impressive packing strategy, her favorite trips to take with her family, and the jet lag cure she has been using since college. Her fear of lost luggage has led her on a quest to find products that can serve her in multiple ways. 'As I travel, I feel like I want products that do multiple things because I like to always pack in a carry-on.' She noted the CC+ Cream Foundation from IT Cosmetics, a brand she recently partnered with for a campaign, as an example of this—the product does triple duty with SPF, skincare ingredients, and coverage. Jenna with the IT Cosmetics Do It All Radiant Concealer. So does she have room in her carry-on for anything unexpected? 'A set of matching pajamas for a girls' trip. I like to bring a PJ so we can all match,' she said. Perhaps her love of matching pajama sets stems from being a twin. Bush Hager and her sister were freshmen in college in 2001 when their father, George W. Bush, became president of the United States. As the granddaughters of George Bush, who served as president from 1989 to 1993, they were used to being in the public eye, but being daughters of the president brought their fame to a whole new level. Though some of their teenage antics received a lot of press attention, Bush Hager did pick up some great travel habits during her college and First Daughter years as she traveled a lot—and even Air Force One trips can leave you jet lagged. Window or aisle seat? Window. What's your go-to plane activity? Reading. What's your go-to travel outfit? Comfortable cotton pants, a t-shirt, and a nice sweater. What's an item you cannot travel without? The IT Cosmetics Do It All Radiant Concealer. It's the one beauty product I always keep in my bag on travel days and just gives me that extra boost of confidence when I need it, especially if I'm tired from traveling. Best jet lag cure you've picked up over the years? Exercise and water. 'One thing that I always do when I get off a long flight is move my body because it helps with jet lag. I've done this since I was in college and would travel far away. I also drink a lot of water because I always feel a little dehydrated when I fly. Every time you fly, for every hour you're on the plane, it's recommended to have that many glasses of water. I believe in salt packs or hydration powders, so I travel with those. I travel with Vitamin C and other extracts, which make me feel better. I would say movement, Vitamin D, and a ton of hydration is key.' She also adds that when you try to get your body moving post-flight, especially on a walk or a jog, you get the bonus of on-the-ground exposure to a new destination, and you can see things you may not have otherwise. As soon as she gets to her hotel, she also unpacks for herself and her children, daughters Mila and Poppy and son Hal. She loves traveling with her family, including husband Henry Chase Hager, but she makes it clear that traveling is different than a vacation . 'I love when it's traveling and not a vacation, so as long as that's the expectation—that you get to show them other cultures and get to take them to places that show them how big and beautiful the world is and know you're not going to be lounging by the pool with a book,' she told T+L. In 2023, the whole family went to Normandy, France, and she said the best day of the trip was when they took the children to the American cemetery in Normandy. As for their next trips, she wants to take them to the other side of the world. 'I've never been, but I would love to take them to Australia and New Zealand, but I'd also have to have more than a week off to do that.' Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb with special guest Andy Cohen on an episode of the Today Show. Nathan Congleton/NBC via Getty Images While some trips are all about on-the-go exploration, Bush Hager also loves a relaxing vacation and was recently surprised by a trip to Nevis in the Caribbean. 'I thought I would love it, but I didn't know how much I would love it. Nevis, which is a small island in the Caribbean, is located outside of St. Martin. I was obsessed with it because I felt like it had incredible food. It had hiking, which I love. It had a ton of beautiful activities, and yet it isn't wildly touristy. It's still kind of off the beaten track. It's so beautiful, and it has all the things you would think about in a Caribbean island—the beaches, the snorkeling—but it also has culture and delicious food.' Hopefully, once they announce the new Today Show co-host, Bush Hager can get some time off and take a well-deserved vacation and travel with her family.

TikTok is loving cool-toned makeup – here's how to try the 90s trend
Thanks to TikTok, the way we're doing our makeup is changing. Take the myriad brides-to-be asking the platform for tips ahead of their big day, or the re-appreciation for classic products — Benefit's Benetint, for one — so that those starting out on their journey can discover the products that stand the test of time. At the moment, creators and fans alike are extolling the virtues of cool-toned makeup, the trend that reigned supreme in the 80s and became eminently more wearable in the 90s. The trend, which sees products centre around cool greys, purples and browns as opposed to warm oranges and golds, champions muted tones to create sculpted, striking looks. Think Pamela Anderson with grey eye shadow and a frosted lip, or Alexa Demie with contoured cheekbones and a feline flick. Interested in trying, but don't know where to start? You have to fight the mind first, says M·A·C Global Senior Artist, Carly Utting. 'If you've always leaned towards the warmer tones of makeup, trying cooler tones can seem totally against your instincts,' she says. 'Slowly incorporating colder, greyer undertone products such as lip liners and blushers is a great place to start. 'M·A·Cs Lipliner in Stone is a firm fan favourite, bringing just the right amount of coolness to the edge of the lip, creating the most perfect 'lip contour' shade. M·A·Cs Pink Swoon blusher is a glorious 'cool' pink tone, it leaves 0 orange tone and instead is the perfect winterly chilly pink.' You can check your undertone by looking at the veins on your arms. Are they more blue or purple? Then you're a warm or pink undertone. If they're closer to green, you will usually be more of a cool or yellow/olive undertone. Cool-toned makeup works especially well if you have undertones of pinks and reds in your skin tone, making it a perfect choice for Celtic skin. Some cool-toned makeup from MAC and IT Cosmetics 'The cool contrasts of blue and grey complement the skin tone beautifully,' Utting continues. 'This being said, if you're an olive undertone makeup lover, a combination of both the more bronze/warmer tones alongside a dabble of cool is perfect.' Deciphering undertones can seem overwhelming. 'In my many years of doing makeup, this is definitely one of the topics that confuses people the most,' makeup artist and UK and Ireland Brand Ambassador for IT Cosmetics, Rose Gallagher, says. But there are ways to simplify. 'To begin, keep your cooler tones to any areas that you want to define. Skin naturally will have warmth to it, so anything cooler will look a bit more polished. Things like a blue-pink blush, for example, can be beautiful for creating an elegant and polished looking makeup, and a blue-red will do wonders to whiten the look of teeth and whites of eyes. If you'd prefer a more natural look, you might wish to opt for neutral or golden undertones.' When choosing new complexion products in different tones than usual, simply reading the product descriptions can be a big help. 'For foundation, for example, it can be as simple as choosing a different variation of your everyday shade,' Gallagher says. 'Let's say at IT Cosmetics, the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer will have a C, N or W next to the shade name, indicating Cool, Warm or Neutral. You can stick to the same shade family (like Light or Deep), but just select a different undertone if you feel something is off. Then, when it comes to things like your bronzer or contour colour, I would try and find something two shades deeper than your natural complexion to begin with. That's another thing — contouring. How does one gauge the difference between contour products and bronzing products? 'Contour products are usually very cool in undertone and are designed to mimic natural shadow,' Gallagher says. 'The whole idea here is that you can emphasise the shadow placement on your face, for example under cheekbones or in the socket of the eye, to create more depth and sculpt the features somewhat. Seeing as shadow is always quite dark, there is no warmth in these. 'On the flipside, bronzer is going to create light and dark, but in a different way! This is usually much warmer in undertone, and designed to give a natural wash of colour all over, but with emphasis on areas that the sun would naturally hit. Using the same sort of principles, this adds structure to the face in a much more natural and soft way.' Gallagher's favourite tip with bronzer? 'It will always look more natural if you add some of your blusher into it — if you caught the sun ordinarily, you'd be a bit rosier as well as sun-kissed.'
