Three major World Snooker Tour events move to new TV channel
The Players Championship, Tour Championship and British Open will move to Channel 5 in 2026. The three tournaments have been shown on ITV4 in recent seasons but will change broadcaster next year. The change sees this season's Players Championship (Feb 16-22) and Tour Championship (Mar 30 – Apr 5) make the switch. The British Open will move to Channel 5 in 2026, but this season's edition runs from 22-28 September, before the switch. The broadcasting team of presenters, pundits and commentators have not been confirmed as yet, as Channel 5 show ranking events for the first time. WST Chairman Steve Dawson said: 'We are delighted to be working with 5 for the first time and to add a new broadcaster to our tour. Snooker has a long history of providing fans with free-to-air events with extensive live coverage so this is fantastic news for everyone who follows our sport. 'The Players Championship and Tour Championship are elite events contested only by the best of the best. Players are striving all season to climb the one year list and earn a place in these prestigious tournaments. 'And from 2026, 5 will also broadcast the British Open which is a historic event with its own unique identity including a random draw.' Matchroom Sport president Barry Hearn was asked about the upcoming shake-up in broadcasting deals for World Snooker Tour events at this year's World Championship. 'There's going to be a mixture of broadcasters because quite honestly, broadcasters like snooker,' he said at the Crucible. 'It's delivering ratings. 'We live in a numbers game. ITV4 has been fantastically successful for us in the numbers it's got. 'So, obviously some of the other stations want snooker. And I think in the next couple of weeks we will lay out the deals that we've done. More Trending 'It's going to involve a multiple number of broadcasters. Some free-to-air, some behind the pay-model. But it's a compliment to where snooker is that it's in demand. 'We need to be more encouraging to the younger market, which involves talking to them in the language that they understand and the medium that they understand. And that's why the world is becoming more digital. The future is more Netflix than free-to-air. 'People will be able to watch what they want to watch, the sports they want to watch, when they want to watch it and for a price they can afford. I find that really exciting.' Through tears last night, Harry admitted to having regrets about 'cheating' on Helena, who has barely been able to look at him since. But before Helena could take him back, she was whisked away for a sleepover with bombshell Giorgio. He's not the air stewardesses' usual type, but he's the perfect distraction to stop Helena reuniting with Harry. I have no doubt Helena will end up back with Harry in a storyline set to rumble on this series, but I'm here to warn her that holding out for him will RUIN her career. Aside from her obvious similarities to Love Island legend Olivia Attwood, Helena's got the potential to be a stand-out star of the series thanks to her hilarious wit and bombshell beauty. She had the villa in hysterics when, during a game of Spin the Bottle, she dared ex Harry "to go home". By proving she knows her worth and can resist Harry's temptation, Helena will secure herself an army of female fans they can look up to. She'll be able to capitalise on this by landing lucrative deals with empowering female brands instead of facing heartbreak once they're out the villa when Harry inevitably cheats. I say this because a leopard never changes its spots - and if he's already untrustworthy while living 24/7 under the same roof, then I don't hold out much hope. 4 Helena read Harry the riot act and told him they can't be friends Credit: ITV My assumption is also based on what Harry told me before going into Love Island. While the 30-year-old was in isolation days before the series launch, Harry's ex said he dumped her for Love Island - despite claiming he was going to Bali for the summer. When I confronted him about this, Harry played Mr Innocent. "Oh that sounds so terrible, wow," he exclaimed. "No, we were casually dating and I told her I was going away for the summer and we left it there. I didn't 'dump' anyone." In fact, Harry went on to rubbish the idea he was as much of a "player" in dating as he was on the pitch. "I think that is the reputation footballers get, but I can only be myself and that's not who I am," Harry insisted to me. "I'm not a player. "I'm 30. I've got a mullet. I'm ready for something serious." As he said this, with a twinkle in his eye and dimple in his smile, it was difficult not to fall for Harry's charm. But Helena needs to be strong and resist - or face being played by a player who has no intention of settling down.

Emmerdale favourite rushed to hospital after horror dog attack as new villain makes shocking debut
AN Emmerdale fan favourite is set to be rushed to hospital after a horror dog attack - as a new villain arrives. It comes as 4 Paddy Dingle falls victim to a horrific dog attack in Emmerdale Credit: ITV 4 The soap legend's dad Bear manages to rescue him Credit: ITV 4 New villain Celia is arriving in the soap Credit: ITV In upcoming scenes, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) finds a sheep trapped in a fence on Celia's farm. After freeing it, the beloved vet is left terrified as an aggressive dog approaches. The dog attacks Paddy - and although dad Bear (Joshua Richards) rescues him, the soap legend is left seriously injured. At the hospital, Mandy (Lisa Riley) tries to comfort a traumatised Bear. Read more on Emmerdale Paddy's grateful to his dad for saving his life, but things take a turn when Bear issues brutal insults. Mandy ushers Bear out and tries to lift Paddy's spirits - although it's clear he's devastated. Having returned home, even best mate Marlon (Mark Charnock) can't make him smile on an unhappy birthday. Spurred on by Bear's words, Paddy grabs the vets' bolt gun and heads to Celia's farm.
