Truro secondary school closed over cyber incident
A secondary school in Cornwall will be closed for two days next week due to a "cyber incident".Richard Lander School in Truro said on Facebook an issue had affected its IT systems, but there was "no evidence that personal data has been compromised".It said an investigation was ongoing and it would be closed to students on Monday and Tuesday following advice from Truro City school said: "Currently, the cyber incident means the school has very limited access to the data which it holds. As a result, this could affect the ability of the school to function and to offer appropriate safeguarding to students." The school said it was working with the council to ensure it had "the right support and expertise available to properly assess the situation" and it would update parents on Tuesday on plans for the rest of the week.

In a statement, Hawaiian Airlines said 'some of our IT systems' had been affected by a 'cybersecurity event.' The nature of the event was not disclosed, but that kind of language is typically used in cases of ransomware incidents, where digital extortionists paralyze a victim's computer network until a cryptocurrency ransom is paid. The airline, which is owned by Alaska Air Group, said it had 'taken steps to safeguard our operations, and our flights are operating safely and as scheduled.' Reuters could not immediately ascertain the extent of the disruption at Hawaiian, but a representative responded using a Gmail address when contacted to seek further details. The Federal Aviation Administration said its safety office responsible for airline oversight is in contact with Hawaiian Airlines. "There has been no impact on safety, and the airline continues to operate safely. We are monitoring the situation," the agency said in a statement.

Columbia Investigating Possible Cyberattack after Website Outage
Columbia University is investigating whether a widespread system outage Tuesday was the result of a cyberattack on the Ivy League school, according to people familiar with the situation. The university said in a statement that it's working with law enforcement after experiencing an outage affecting its IT systems on its Upper West Side campus and that the school is working to restore services 'as quickly as possible.' Columbia's academic platforms, administrative systems and communication tools have been affected by the outage.

NHS Highland says IT fault not a cyber-attack
NHS Highland has stood down a "critical incident" it had declared earlier due to a fault affecting IT systems across all its hospitals and health board said all its systems were now stable and operating as normal, adding that the problem was not caused by a Highland said declaring a critical incident had allowed it to better co-ordinate its response, and also call in additional support if sites include Raigmore Hospital and National Treatment Centre - Highland in Inverness, and Lorn and Isles Hospital in Oban in Argyll. The health board said: "We would like to thank our staff, patients and partners for their understanding and support during the incident."We can confirm this was not a cyber attack, and that no patient records were compromised."A full post-incident review will be carried out to ensure we capture learning and continue to strengthen our resilience."NHS Highland said patients should continue to attend their appointments as planned.
