Hibernian to rename East Stand in honour of former player Pat Stanton

Hibernian have announced that they are renaming Easter Road's East Stand as the Pat Stanton Stand in honour of one of their greatest players. Stanton, 80, made almost 400 appearances for his beloved Hibees in the 1960s and 70s, captaining them to League Cup glory in 1972. The official unveiling will take place ahead of the club's 150th anniversary match against Rot-Weiss Essen on Tuesday, July 9. Chairman Ian Gordon told Hibs' website: 'It's with great pride and pleasure that we are honouring Pat Stanton's amazing contribution to Hibernian FC and Scottish football during our anniversary season. 'The Pat Stanton Stand will serve as a lasting tribute to his achievements and legacy, inspiring future players and supporters for many years to come. 'On behalf of everyone associated with Hibs – the fans, the board, the staff, the players, the entire Hibernian family – I would like to thank Pat for everything he's done for the club.' Hibs owner Ian Gordon has hailed new CEO Dan Barnett as the man capable of taking the Easter Road club to 'the next level' as a business, following today's confirmation that the former Leicester City commercial director will start work on August 1. The veteran sporting executive boasts an impressive CV including stints at UEFA, working on two America's Cup cycles and Olympic experience in the USA. Chairman Gordon, confirming that the club had found a full-time replacement for Ben Kensell, who left in January, said: 'I am delighted to welcome Dan as the club's new chief executive officer. The process of appointing our new CEO has been long and thorough, to ensure we hired the right person to lead the business side of the football club.
