Charlize Theron's ‘Old Guard 2' Mullet Made Her Daughters Cry: 'They Want Mom to Look Like a Princess'

Charlize Theron's daughters weren't too fond of her hair makeover in The Old Guard 2. During a Tuesday appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host confirmed that the Oscar winner sported a 'real mullet' for the film as opposed to wearing a wig. Meyers further asked Theron what her children thought about the new hairdo, to which she admitted that one of her daughters began crying when they saw the change. 'And they just went [blank] and one started crying. One [of my kids] literally started bawling her eyes out.' Theron said that after her reaction, she had to have a conversation with her child about her new hairstyle: 'I had to actually sit down with her and say, 'We all get to be who we want to be, and right now, mom wants to wear a mullet. I don't tell you what to do with your hair.'' Still, they weren't too happy with the change. The actress added that her children are 'mostly very girly, and they think of me as a princess, and they want mom to look like a princess.' Despite her daughter's preferences, Theron said that she tends to 'veer more towards the kind of edgy' and 'masculine' style, often opting to wear 'jeans and [a] T-shirt.' 'When I go to school functions, my daughter's always like, 'Mom, can you please wear a dress?'' she joked. Theron is set to star in The Old Guard sequel alongside Uma Thurman, Henry Golding, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The new film will arrive July 2 on Netflix. Bert Kreischer to Topline Netflix Sitcom

Bert Kreischer has made five stand-up specials for Netflix, and now he's taking the time-honored path trod by many comedians: starring in a sitcom. Kreischer will play the title role in and is a co-creator of Free Bert, a six-episode comedy the streamer has ordered. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (The Grinder, Huge in France) co-created the show with Kreischer and will serve as showrunners, writers and directors. The cast also includes Arden Myrin, Lilou Lang and Ava Ryan. He finds himself in unfamiliar territory when his daughters (Lang and Ryan) are accepted at an elite private school in Beverly Hills. When his antics turn the family into outcasts, he decides to put a shirt on and stifle his true self in order to fit in. Myrin (The Righteous Gemstones, Insatiable) will play Bert's wife in the series. In addition to the stand-up specials Kreischer has done for Netflix — the most recent one, Lucky, premiered in March — the comedian has appeared on WWE Raw since it moved to the streamer and was part of Netflix's Christmas Day NFL coverage last year. Free Bert will also join a growing roster of comedian-led comedies at Netflix, among them Tires (Shane Gillis), Survival of the Thickest (Michelle Buteau) and Leanne (Leanne Morgan), which premieres July 31. The streamer also recently renewed Tom Segura's sketch show Bad Thoughts. Kreischer, Paul and Mogel executive produce Free Bert with Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns and Elise Henderson of Counterpart Studios, LeeAnn Kreischer, and Judi Marmel. Paul and Mogel are repped by UTA, Mosaic and Johnson Shapiro. June 26, 12:45 p.m. An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Ava Ryan's name.
