Liverpool move to SIGN wonderkid Sadio Mane 2.0

Liverpool have moved to sign the next big thing out of Senegal. A teenager with all the talent in the world. Liverpool have made their move to sign Idrissa Gueye from FC Metz. Football Insider reports that an enquiry has been made from the Reds as they look to get a deal done. The report also mentions West Ham United, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Southampton, and Ipswich. And those are just the English teams looking into this one. There's also interest from German and Italian clubs. L'Equipe suggest €20m would get Metz to accept a transfer for their prodigy. But is Gueye actually worth that? Idrissa Gueye Gueye only turned 18 once last season had kicked off but he went on to score five times in Ligue 1 across the campaign. He added an assist to that, too. So in limited minutes, the forward averaged a goal or assist every 180 minutes or so. It's a fantastic rate for a teenager and explains the incredible interest in him right now. Gueye is also the next big sensationa in Senegalese football. Liverpool, of course, got the best years out of Senegal's greatest ever player: Sadio Mane. Here's an opportunity, then, to secure the greatest of the next generation, should Gueye go on to fulfil his potential. We will say, though, that Liverpool might struggle in this race.

Manchester United ready to make move for Brentford's £15m-rated target

Manchester United faced many challenges in their bid to get the Bryan Mbeumo deal over the line. It is understood Brentford changed their asking price for Mbeumo several time during negotiations. The Bees also preferred the winger to join Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United over United. After much frustration, United's third offer, worth an initial £65m with £6m in add-ons, was accepted last week. Now, the Red Devils might have an opportunity to return the favour by making things tricky for the London outfit in their chase for a striker. Manchester United to battle Brentford for Gueye According to The Sun, United have entered the race to sign FC Metz whizkid Idrissa Gueye, prepared to 'hijack' Brentford's bid for their priority target. Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League for Brentford. As such, his departure has left a gaping hole in their attack. Further, Yoane Wissa is also pushing to leave the Gtech Community Stadium. It is claimed new manager Keith Andrews 'feels he can put one over United chief Ruben Amorim by landing Senegalese kid Gueye.' However, the fierce competition from United has 'forced Bees chief to now look at matching his French club's £15m asking price.' The 18-year-old striker only moved to Metz from Génération Foot in January. However, his agility and finishing ability have quickly made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe. While Brentford could offer a quicker route to regular Premier League football to Gueye, United 'only see him as a long-term project.' Under Ineos, the Red Devils have intensified their attempts to add up-and-coming talents to the club's ranks. Manchester United want Brentford academy director Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are 'undertaking an extensive search to find the 'best-in-class' replacement' for Nick Cox, who is set to leave the club to join Everton as their technical director. Interestingly, the Mancunians are considering the appointment of Brentford academy director Stephen Torpey to succeed Cox. Brentford appointed Torpey as their academy director in January 2024. The hierarchy at the London club would not be happy at losing him so quickly, and that too to United. Featured image Alex Livesey via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @

Man Utd hijack Brentford transfer just days after furious response to Bryan Mbeumo saga

Manchester United finally completed a sensational move for Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford earlier this month and it appears the Red Devils are ready to deal the Bees another blow Manchester United are aiming to gazump Brentford in the race for Metz wonderkid Idrissa Gueye after being left furious by the Bees. The Red Devils have already spent heavily this summer to bolster their frontline. ‌ The £63m signing of former Wolves star Matheus Cunha was followed by the £71m acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo, who eventually completed a switch to Old Trafford after weeks of protracted negotiations. ‌ And while United eventually managed to get their man, they weren't left particularly happy with the actions of their colleagues at Brentford. Red Devils chiefs had been left furious with Brentford's attempts to sell Mbeumo elsewhere, with Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal all reportedly interested. ‌ United have accused Brentford of attempting to convince the forward to lower his wage demands, while they also thought the Bees increased their demands once a deal was close. And given the hostility between the two clubs at the current time, United have threatened to make things even worse by moving for a Brentford target. According to The Sun, both sides are going head to head for Metz youngster Idrissa Gueye. The teenager has emerged as a key target for Keith Andrews this summer, who may be forced to match the French side's asking price of £15m for Gueye to fight off competition from United and Burnley. It is suggested that the London side would be willing to offer the youngster instant Premier League football, while United see him as one for the future. Gueye, 18, is a product of the Metz academy and went on to score five goals in 17 Ligue 2 appearances last term. And he now faces a decision over his future, albeit United will hope that he follows in the footsteps of Mbeumo, who was only interested in signing for the Red Devils. 'As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams - the team whose shirt I wore growing up," he said. ‌ 'My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players. 'Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.'
