LeBron James May Have Had Secret Operation After 2015 NBA Finals
LeBron James May Have Had Secret Operation After 2015 NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals in six games despite LeBron James averaging 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.5 blocks in the series. Advertisement Kyrie Irving fractured his left kneecap in Game 1 and missed the rest of the series. Meanwhile, Kevin Love missed the entire Cavaliers-Warriors series after dislocating his left shoulder in the first round of the 2015 playoffs against the Boston Celtics. James did everything he could to lead Cleveland past Golden State, but the leading scorer in NBA history came up short. A future Hall of Famer, James played through a well-documented back injury during the 2014-15 season. While it was reported that James didn't have surgery, his former Cleveland teammate, Iman Shumpert, recently said he "believes" James had "some back operation" after the 2015 NBA Finals. Advertisement 'I can't remember what LeBron's issue was, but I believe he went and got some back operation after that before the next season,' Shumpert said on the Hoop Collective on Monday. James played in 76 games in 2015-16, averaging 25.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks. The Cavaliers faced the Warriors again in the 2016 NBA Finals. Behind James and Irving, Cleveland erased a 3-1 series deficit to win the championship in seven exhilarating games. James won the 2016 Finals MVP Award. He finished the seven-game series with stellar averages of 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.3 blocks. Cavs rumors: Iman Shumpert might have accidentally broken LeBron James injury news from 2015
The post Cavs rumors: Iman Shumpert might have accidentally broken LeBron James injury news from 2015 appeared first on ClutchPoints. After Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Iman Shumpert divulged some details about a potential LeBron James surgery (when they were Cleveland Cavaliers teammates) that had not been previously known. Advertisement In the aftermath of the Oklahoma City Thunder's Game 7 victory against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, much was understandably made of the impact of Tyrese Haliburton's Achilles injury in the first quarter of the game. But injuries, sometimes severe and devastating ones, ultimately dictate which way the Finals go. Shumpert knows that all too well. In 2015, after the New York Knicks traded him to the Cavs at midseason, Shumpert made his first trip to the Finals as Cleveland rolled through the Eastern Conference playoffs. But injuries mounted, and in the Finals, it became too much for the Cavs to overcome league MVP Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. While explaining the effect that injuries can have on a team's championship hopes, though, Shumpert may have revealed that James had surgery on his back following the 2015 season. 'To my standard, I don't feel like we should have lost the first championship in 2015. Kyrie [Irving] hurt his knee. I had my shoulder out of place. J.R. [Smith]'s back was messed up. Kevin Love's back was messed up,' Shumpert said before Windhorst corrected him on that Love had dislocated his shoulder, not injured his back, during the first round of the playoffs. Advertisement 'I can't remember what LeBron's issue was, but I believe he went and got some back operation after that before the next season,' Shumpert said. 'He might have just broken news, but we'll just move past that,' Windhorst replied. If true, it would be intriguing considering James has long been considered one of the most durable players and, for the most part, avoided undergoing surgeries. While he went under the knife this offseason following an MCL sprain during the playoffs, he has otherwise — from what we've seen, at least — stayed off the operating table. It would also make what he accomplished the following season all the more impressive. After leading the team to the best record in the East, James and the Cavs fell behind 3-1 in the Finals to the Warriors in a rematch. Despite the deficit, they won each of the final three games to win the NBA title and become the first team (and only so far) to come back from 3-1 in the NBA Finals. Advertisement James, 40, is the oldest player in the NBA and would become the first player in league history to play 23 seasons in the league if he, as expected, returns this fall for another season. ESPN Fans Praising TV Analyst For NBA Finals Performance
ESPN Fans Praising TV Analyst For NBA Finals Performance originally appeared on The Spun. ESPN has taken plenty of criticism for its coverage of the 2025 NBA Finals, but at least one analyst received praise for his performance on Monday night. Advertisement Following the Oklahoma City Thunder's victory over the Indiana Pacers, ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Iman Shumpert offered their thoughts on Game 5. Windhorst has been one of the top NBA reporters for ESPN since joining the network in 2010. As for Shumpert, he partnered with Disney and ESPN this past October to create a documentary series. Although he's not often shown on TV, he proved this week that he's more than capable of taking on a larger workload. Shumpert, a former first-round pick and NBA champion, did an excellent job breaking down Oklahoma City's tenacious defense during his postgame conversation with Windhorst. Not only did fans rave about Shumpert's performance, some said he should receive a prominent role for ESPN's coverage of the 2025-26 season. Advertisement "I like how he explained the things that players do outside of scoring, which I don't hype up anyway because I already know what players can consistently get buckets. Players can be effective in other ways though," a second fan said. "Shumpert always gives great explanation of the game. He wasn't a superstar, but he was a very good role player and knew how to perfect his role. I hope he gets a contract with one of these networks or podcast," a third fan wrote. "Shumpert should replace [Kendrick] Perkins," another fan suggested. "He actually knows and can talk hoops." At 34 years old, Shumpert has plenty of time to rise up the ranks. Advertisement Luckily for Shumpert, NBC and Prime Video will be looking for NBA analysts this summer. That could lead him to landing a marquee job. The NBA Finals will resume on Thursday with Game 6. We'll see if Shumpert gets a chance to showcase his broadcasting skills once again. Related: Stephen A. Spurs rumors: Shams jabs ‘body language police' after viral Kevin Durant trade moment
The post Spurs rumors: Shams jabs 'body language police' after viral Kevin Durant trade moment appeared first on ClutchPoints. The San Antonio Spurs are one of a handful of teams rumored to be interested in a trade for Kevin Durant. Former NBA star Iman Shumpert recently made the case as to why the 13-time All-Star is a great fit for the organization. Advertisement However, Shams Charania's body language during Shumpert's comments turned heads, leading to widespread speculation that a trade may not come to fruition. Charania glanced over to the camera awkwardly, as if it were an episode of 'The Office,' while Shumpert explained how he believes the Spurs should trade for Kevin Durant. The famed NBA insider, who works for ESPN, made an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' on Tuesday to clear the air. Shams Charania claims that he was sort of soaking in his environment, attending the NBA Finals. It was the first time he's made an appearance like this for ESPN, and he told McAfee that he was looking for the camera he's supposed to look at when it's his turn to talk. 'What I start thinking about is this possible [Kevin Durant to the Spurs]? … I'm gathering my surroundings, my first time on the show. I gotta figure out, are they doing one shots; are they keeping it on us?' According to Charania, his Jim Halpert-like glance at the camera had no deeper meaning behind it. During his guest appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show,' Charania didn't seem to be against the idea of the 36-year-old forward being traded to the Spurs. Advertisement However, he did explain how San Antonio may not be willing to give up the assets the Phoenix Suns are asking for to make the deal go through. The other teams rumored to be interested in trading for the four-time scoring champ include the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Of those three teams, it's said that Kevin Durant has no interest in playing for Minnesota. So the Spurs very well could still be in the mix. NBA Fans Think Shams Charania's Body Language Might Reveal Kevin Durant's Next Destination
NBA Fans Think Shams Charania's Body Language Might Reveal Kevin Durant's Next Destination originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Kevin Durant's future is one of the biggest talking points in the basketball world at the moment, as a parting of ways with the Phoenix Suns appears imminent. Iman Shumpert named the San Antonio Spurs as the ideal landing spot for Durant on Hoop Streams, and a fan noticed that Shams Charania had an interesting reaction to the comment. Others agreed that Charania's body language indicated that Durant would be a Spur soon. Advertisement "I really don't feed into stuff like this, but this was actually something convincing. Shams knows, and now the world does. Also, to be honest I know KD wants to be a Spur bad that's the best situation," one fan is now convinced that Charania knows. "He's a Spur, I keep saying this," a fan has always believed Durant would go to the Spurs. "This look is 'Ishbia, I didn't say it, he did,'" a fan joked that Charania was indicating that he hadn't said anything about the Spurs. "When your friend guesses the ending of the movie right and you're trying not to tell him," one used a hilarious analogy to describe this situation. Advertisement "The trades already done- just waiting for the finals to end," one fan believes the trade is already done. Well, earlier this month, Bill Simmons claimed that Durant's trade to the Spurs had been finalized in secret. He believed the move would be announced during the week of the draft. This post on X also came to Shumpert's attention, and his reaction gave even more belief to fans about Durant heading to San Antonio. "I know what Shams wanted to say. Shams Charania gone be a great summer." Charania had previously reported that the Spurs were one of Durant's preferred destinations, and he'd be willing to commit long-term to them. The Athletic then went a step further on Monday night. Advertisement "Out of Kevin Durant's preferred trade destinations, league sources tell The Athletic that he specifically wants to play for the San Antonio Spurs." While there is talk about Durant and the Spurs being a done deal, other reports indicate nothing has been finalized. The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski and Sam Amick stated that the Suns haven't liked any of the offers on the table. 'With the offers from the Spurs, Rockets, and Heat coming up short to this point, league sources say the Suns are still hopeful that Durant might warm to the Timberwolves possibility.' Charania was the one to report that Durant had no interest in going to the Minnesota Timberwolves. You could argue that a move to the Timberwolves would present him with his best chance to win a third title, but he isn't open to that move as of now. Advertisement Durant, who averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game in 2024-25, has his eyes on the Spurs. It would be quite fascinating to see him and Victor Wembanyama team up. Depending on who would get traded to the Suns to get Durant, the two superstars would be supported by the likes of De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, and the second pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. While the Spurs wouldn't be the favorites to win the championship with Durant, they would be in the mix. If Wembanyama can take another leap in his third season, then perhaps they could go on and win it all.
