Manoj Bajpayee reacted to the viral rumour that he was the first choice for Aamir Khan's role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti. Slamming the rumour in a hilarious way, the Family Man actor shared on his X, handle "Matlab kuch bhi (you can say anything)." What's Happening Manoj Bajpayee shared a social media post which read, "Manoj Bajpayee was first choice for Rang De Basanti, not Aamir Khan, says producer after 18 years." Sharing the same post, he mentioned in another X post, "Matlab kuch bhi (you can say anything)." The chatter around Manoj Bajpayee being the first choice for the 2006 film started after Kamlesh Pandey(co-writer of the film) said in an interview with Ravya Sarda that Manoj Bajpayee had signed the film before Aamir came on board. "We had been roaming around with the script of the film for 6 years, and no one was ready to make that film. We had signed Manoj for the role that Aamir played finally. We thought we would make a small film; we didn't have a big budget. The moment Aamir heard the script, he told us that he wanted to do the film, and he even got AR Rahman to come on the project. UTV, who had rejected the film twice in the past, immediately said yes to it," he said during the interview. After his interview went viral, several portals put out articles that the Satya star was supposed to play Aamir Khan's role in the film. The film minted Rs 8.50 crore on June 23, taking the total upto Rs 66.65 crore at the domestic box office. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par marks Aamir Khan's comeback to the theatres after three years. What's Happening As per Sacnilk report, Sitaare Zameen Pa r earned Rs 8.50 crore at the domestic box office on Monday. On Sunday, the film earned double-digits, keeping the momentum intact with its Friday and Saturday collections. The film managed to double its collection on its very second day of release, courtesy strong positive reviews and word-of-mouth. The film earned Rs 10.7 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 20.2 crore on Saturday and Rs 27.25 crore on Sunday. New Delhi: Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, which marked the actor's comeback on the big screen after 3 years, is slowly but steadily cementing its position at the box office. The film managed to mint Rs 59 crore in its first weekend, while it opened to a moderate start, earning Rs 10 crore, per a Sacnilk report. Breaking Down The First Weekend Earnings Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed a substantial jump in its earnings on its first Sunday (June 22) after its release. The film earned Rs 29 crore, taking the total to Rs 59 crore at the domestic box office. On Saturday (June 21), the film minted Rs 20.2 crore, which was exactly the double of its opening day collection. On Friday (June 20), the film opened its box office with Rs 10 crore in collection. Strong positive reviews and word-of-mouth played crucial roles for the film to pull up its numbers at the box office. As per Sacnilk, the film [Hindi version] had 57.83 % occupancy on Sunday afternoon. The trend witnessed a surge with footfall ascending to 72.31 % in evening shows. The night shows registered 46.97% occupancy.
