Aamir Khan confirms he's set to begin work on 'Mahabharat' from August, says he won't cast any known faces

Aamir Khan has often spoken about 'Mahabharat' as his dream project. It's been many years since Aamir is dreaming about it but has always maintained that it's a huge responsibility. He has admitted that he's taking his own time because he doesn't really want to go wrong with it as it would hurt sentiments. Meanwhile, now in a recent interview, Aamir has confirmed that he will finally begin work on it from next month. He said in an interview with Screen, "Well, I'm starting work on it in the month of August. It will be a series of films. It'll be back to back. Because you can't tell the Mahabharat in just one film. And you know, the Mahabharat is very dangerous. It's again a story which is in my blood. No one can do anything about it. I need to tell it. So I'm starting work on it." When further asked about the casting, he said, "I don't plan to take any known faces in the film. For me, the characters are the stars. I want unknown faces. There'll be entirely new cast for it, is what I'm thinking." Earlier, when Aamir was asked about the character he would love to play in 'Mahabharat', he had said he's really impressed with Lord Krishna. "The character of Krishna inspires me—that's the character I truly love.' Aamir said at the India@2047 Summit hosted by ABP Live, "Actually… mujhe Krishna ka kirdaar bohot hi prabhavit karta hai… I'm very inspired by him. So that's a character I really love (Actually… I find the character of Krishna deeply impactful… I'm very inspired by him. So that's a character I really love)" However, he added further, "Kyunki yeh bohot bada project hai, toh main kuch badi cheezein bolna nahi cha raha hoon (Since this is such a big project, I don't want to say anything major right now). Aamir Khan expresses interest in playing Lord Krishna in planned Mahabharat adaptation

Aamir Khan has once again expressed his interest in adapting the Mahabharata, calling it a long-cherished dream. Speaking at the India@2047 Summit hosted by ABP Live, the actor described the epic as a project he has wanted to pursue for years, though he acknowledged the challenges involved. 'Yeh mera sapna hai ke main bana paun Mahabharata, lekin bohot mushkil sapna hai woh (It's my dream that I'm able to bring the Mahabharata to life, but it's hard to pull off)' Khan said. 'Mahabharata will never let you down… but you might let Mahabharata down,' he added. Khan confirmed that the adaptation is being developed as a large-scale franchise, potentially spanning several films. He revealed that different directors may handle various parts of the project due to its scale, and that he may not direct it himself. When asked about which role he would want to play, Khan said he is particularly drawn to Lord Krishna. 'Mujhe Krishna ka kirdaar bahot hi prabhavit karta hai (The character of Krishna captivates me)… I'm very inspired by him,' he said. However, he emphasised that it's too early to make any firm announcements. 'Main kuch badi cheezein bolna nahi chah raha hoon (I don't want to make tall claims just yet,)' he added. Casting for the project, Khan said, will be based strictly on suitability for each role. 'We'll see who we should cast based on who's appropriate for which part,' he told The Hollywood Reporter.
