India A men's hockey team suffer 1-3 defeat against Belgium in European Tour

(PIC - IANS) The India A Men's Hockey Team suffered an unfortunate 1-3 loss in their European tour against Belgium at the Sportcentrum WilrijksePlein in Antwerpen, Belgium. Captain Sanjay led his side from the front and scored the solitary goal for the Indian team. Belgium scored three goals in the first quarter itself, taking an early lead in the match. India did well to sustain the pressure, hold possession and create good opportunities in the attack over the remaining three quarters as they managed to score in the final quarter of the game. After the match India 'A' Coach Shivendra Singh said, 'Despite a shaky start, the overall game was very good. We conceded early but did well to bounce back and control the game in the second half. The ball positioning was good and we created a lot of chances, just need to focus on our finishing.' 'There is a lot of pressure on these young players since they are facing some of the world's best teams and players. Despite that, the boys are playing with great confidence and have been impressive on the field. This tour is all about developing these youngsters and helping them reach their potential. We face World no. 1, The Netherlands, next and such experiences are going to be very useful for these players in their careers,' he added. The India A Men's Hockey Team will now head to back to Eindhoven to play two crucial matches against The Netherlands on July 18 and July 20 at 21:30 IST and 20:30 IST respectively as they will hope to end their European tour on a positive note.

ANI 12 Jul 2025, 19:35 GMT+10 Eindhoven [Netherlands], July 12 (ANI): The India A Men's Hockey Team continued to show good form and registered yet another important win on their tour of Europe, as they defeated France 3-2, in their third game of the tour, at the Hockey Club Oranje-Rood, in Eindhoven. The India A Men's Hockey Team saw the forward Aditya Arjun Lalge score a couple of goals while his teammate Boby Singh Dhami also made his way onto the scoresheet. Aditya Arjun Lalge scored the first goal, after which he converted a PC as well. Boby Singh Dhami got the third goal for India, as they walked off with the win. Meanwhile, for France, both goals were scored by Clement. Reflecting on the win third consecutive win, Coach Shivendra Singh said as quoted by a press release from Hockey India, 'The India A Men's Hockey Team has been working very hard behind the scenes in preparation for this tour, and it is great to see things working out as well as they have on the field. We have a few more games to go on this tour, and I am confident that the team will keep up the good work and build on the momentum.' This was the India A Men's Hockey Team's third win on the tour in as many games. The India A Men's Hockey Team will take on France on Sunday at 1400 HRS IST, at the Hockey Club Oranje-Rood, in Eindhoven. The India A Men's Hockey Team still have a total of five games to play on their tour of Europe. (ANI)

Eindhoven [Netherlands], July 10 (ANI): The India A Men's Hockey Team continued its impressive run in the second match of the ongoing Euro tour, securing a convincing 6-0 victory over Ireland in Eindhoven, Netherlands, according to a release from Hockey India. Uttam Singh once again opened the scoring for the India A Team, followed by captain Sanjay. Midfielder Mohammed Raheel Mouseen then scored impressive back-to-back goals, followed by a goal each by Amandeep Lakra and Varun Kumar as India A secured their second win for the country, blanking out Ireland 6-0. Soon after the match, Coach Shivendra Singh said, 'We've had two really good matches against Ireland, and I'm happy with how the players are shaping up. We'll play the French team next and hopefully deliver an equally impressive performance.' The India A Men's Hockey Team will take on France next at the same location on Saturday, July 12. They will later play against England, Belgium, and hosts, the Netherlands, over the course of the next two weeks. Earlier, India A Men's Hockey Team kickstarted their tour of Europe with a dominant 6-1 victory over Ireland at the Hockey Club Oranje-Rood in Eindhoven, Netherlands. India had a complete performance throughout the four quarters and hardly put a foot wrong. Uttam Singh opened the scoring for the men in blue, and Amandeep Lakra later extended their lead. This was followed by an impressive brace by Aditya Lalage as he scored back-to-back goals. Forwards Selvam Karthi and Boby Singh Dhami also scored a goal each to feature on the scoresheet. Ireland could only manage to score a consolation goal as India ensured they were tight with their defending. The India A team will play two matches each against Ireland, France, and the Netherlands, as well as one match each against England and Belgium. (ANI)

New Delhi [India], July 7 (ANI): The India A Men's Hockey Team are all set to commence their tour of Europe, with the opening game against Ireland at the Hockey Club Oranje-Rood, Eindhoven, Netherlands, according to a release from Hockey India. The tour of Europe, organised by Hockey India, will feature a total of eight matches against some of the top European sides and is aimed at providing valuable international exposure to a mix of emerging and experienced players. The squad, which is a healthy mix of youth and experience, is led by Sanjay, who believes the tour of Europe is a fantastic idea for the team. Speaking ahead of the opening game, the Captain said, 'The tour of Europe is a great opportunity for all of us. There will be some very tough games on this tour, and we are looking forward to testing ourselves against these teams. There is youth and experience in our squad, and that will be very useful for the team in these games.' The India A team will play two matches each against Ireland, France, and the Netherlands, along with one match each against England and Belgium. These high-intensity games are expected to test the depth and readiness of India's talent pool as the national setup looks to build a strong pipeline for the senior team.
