IIM-Bodh Gaya hosts 24 political leaders from Sri Lanka

Patna: Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Bodh Gaya hosted 24 young political leaders from Sri Lanka for a specially designed academic module as part of the ongoing Young Political Leaders Programme (YPLP), organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The Sri Lankan delegation represents a diverse cross-section of the island nation's political spectrum, comprising sitting members of Parliament, local govt councillors, youth leaders and legal professionals. Delegates from 15 political parties participated, including four representatives from National People's Power, three each from Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and Samagi Jana Balawegaya, two from Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi, and one each from ten other national and regional parties. The cohort comprises 20 male and 4 female participants, representing the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities, reflecting the country's political and cultural diversity. IIM-Bodh Gaya director Vinita Sahay said, "This is not merely an exchange of knowledge, but a forging of democratic kinship. As future leaders of South Asia engage with each other at IIM-Bodh Gaya, they are laying the groundwork for a region defined by cooperation, empathy and shared progress."

Kolkata: A trial court in Kolkata, on Saturday evening, granted an interim bail to a second year male student of Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Calcutta, a premier management institute in the country, gets bail on Saturday, a week after he was arrested and produced in court on July 12, for allegedly raping an outsider young woman on July 11. At the same time, the court imposed some restrictions on his movement during the interim bail woman, however, did not record her confidential statement before the judicial magistrate, did not undergo medic-legal test and refusal to submit clothes that she was wearing during the alleged event of rape, police sources said. Police sources had said that the victim and her family members were allegedly not cooperating with the investigation . The victim did not undergo a medical test earlier on Saturday, police sources said. According to complaint lodged by the young woman at Haridevpur Polcie station she was allegedly raped at the Calcutta boys' hostel last Friday. A nine-member SIT has been formed by Kolkata Police last Sunday to probe the alleged rape inside IIM-Calcutta campus and CCTV footages have been sought from the institute, people in the know said. The alleged victim's father last Saturday had told media persons that his daughter was not tortured or assaulted,and she had fallen from a vehicle and lost consciousness. The victim's father had also said that someone forcibly asked her daughter to write the police complaint. The arrested accused Premanand Mahaveer Toppannavar @Parmanand Jain (26) is from Karnataka and he was a second year student of IIM-C. He was produced in a Kolkata court on July 12 and remanded to police custody till July 19. IIM-C authorities had said that they had cooperated with police in the probe.

Bagalkot: An MBA student from Bagalkot district has been arrested by Kolkata Police in West Bengal on charges of sexually harassing a woman. Bagalkot SP Siddarth Goel said here, on Thursday, that he had received information from Kolkata police that they had arrested Paramanand Topannavar, 26. Paramanand, hailing from Lokapur in Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot district, is pursuing the MBA at the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. A female student has lodged a complaint against Paramanand at Haridevpur police station in Kolkata that she was sexually harassed. Based on the complaint, Haridevpur police have registered a case under BNS Sections 123 and 64. "The incident allegedly took place at a students' hostel in Joka Campus of IIM Kolkata on June 12. Police have arrested Paramanand on the day of the incident and produced him before the court. Kolkata police have informed us," said Bagalkot SP Siddarth Goel.

IIM Bangalore to launch UG Courses in Economics and Data Science, application begins..., program fee...

The Indian Institute of Management, one of the best management institutes in India, is all set to launch its undergraduate programs. From August 2026, IIM will offer two full-time four-year UG courses in Economics and Data Science. Both BSc (Hons) in Economics and BSc (Hons) in Data Science will come with a minor degree in Business and another discipline. These full-time residential courses will be offered in the new Jigani campus – a newly established School of Multidisciplinary Studies. IIM has designed these courses in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP). It aims to provide world-class undergraduate education with strong academic foundations and real-world relevance. IIM launches UG Courses: Important Dates The application window will be open from September 2025 The programs are set to begin from August 2026 Initially, the plan is to intake 20 students per program which makes for admissions of 80 students in total. However, the plan is to grow the student intake to 640 by 2031. IIM launches UG Courses: Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process The maximum age limit to apply is set at 20 years for the general category and 22 years for reserved categories as of August 1, 2025 Candidates must have cleared Class 12(or equivalent) from a recognized board. Candidates must have studied Maths in Class 12 and should have scored minimum 60%. Candidates must have also scored atleast 60% (overall) in Class 10. Candidates will have to go through a National test and then an interview to get selected. Additionally, the programme fee for both courses is RFs. 8.5 Lakhs per annum. The curriculum of these two courses will integrate Economics, data science, philosophy, communication, and ethics will be integrated in the curriculum of both these courses, with a special IIM flavor of business education. They aim to establish a strong application-based orientation of all subjects in real life. Additionally, the highlights of the programmes include two internship cycles; an international exchange term offering; a curriculum grounded in context sensitivity, individual transformation, and life competencies; and the option for a three-year exit with a degree. According to the official statement, these undergraduate programmes are designed to offer a distinctive blend of broad exposure and deep expertise.
