7 great friendship moments between Indian And Pakistani cricketers

As India and Pakistan prepare to face off at Dubai on Sunday, cricket enthusiasts in both nations are abuzz with anticipation. Notably, the two countries have not engaged in a bilateral series since 2012, with their encounters now limited to international tournaments. Despite the historically strained relations between the neighbors, numerous instances of camaraderie have emerged among players on and off the field. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jasprit Bumrah During 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, Pakistan's star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi presented a gift to India's Jasprit Bumrah, who had recently become a father. Bumrah and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, welcomed a baby boy on September 4. Afridi was heard wishing the newborn well, expressing hopes that he would one day emulate Bumrah's prowess. Virat Kohli and Mohammad Amir The on-field rivalry between former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir and India's Virat Kohli has been a highlight for cricket fans. Ahead of their T20 encounter in Kolkata in 2016, Kohli gifted Amir a cricket bat, recalling a promise made during the Asia Cup. Kohli also lauded Amir's return to international cricket after a ban, expressing admiration for his fast bowling skills. Virender Sehwag and Sarfaraz Ahmed In 2017, former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag defended Pakistan's then-captain Sarfaraz Ahmed against online criticism regarding his English proficiency. Sehwag emphasized that Sarfaraz's role was to play cricket, a task he had excelled at, leading Pakistan to the Champions Trophy final. Indian Women's Cricket Team and Bismah Maroof During the 2022 ICC Women's World Cup in New Zealand, after India's victory over Pakistan, Indian players were seen lovingly holding the infant daughter of Pakistan's captain, Bismah Maroof. This heartwarming gesture highlighted the bonds formed beyond the competitive spirit of the game. Fazal Mahmood and CK Nayudu In 1947, amidst the turmoil of partition, Pakistani cricketer Fazal Mahmood was en route to a cricket camp in Pune. During his journey, he was threatened by extremists but was protected by Indian cricketer CK Nayudu, who brandished his bat to ensure Mahmood's safety. Indian Players and Azhar Ali's Children Indian cricketers, including Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, and MS Dhoni, have taken time to interact with the children of Pakistan's opening batsman, Azhar Ali. These moments underscore how cricket serves as a unifying force, transcending borders and fostering friendships. Jhulan Goswami and Kainat Imtiaz Indian speedster Jhulan Goswami inspired Pakistani cricketer Kainat Imtiaz to pursue fast bowling. Before the 2017 Women's World Cup match between India and Pakistan, Kainat expressed her joy at meeting her role model, highlighting the influence of cross-border sporting icons.
