Tottenham Hotspur sue Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos for £11m
Tottenham Hotspur have lodged a High Court claim for £11million against Sir Jim Ratcliffe's company Ineos Automotive, the club's former sponsor. Court documents show that Spurs are alleging that Ineos failed to make a payment as contracted of just under £500,000 in August last year and in December missed a payment of £5.1million for the 2025-26 season. A five-year sponsorship agreement was signed in 2022, worth a minimum of £17.5million overall, but Spurs terminated the contract in March this year, claiming the decision was prompted by Ineos's failure to pay. As part of the deal, Ineos named seats in the Spurs dugout, had advertising displayed on big screens at matches and its Grenadier car became the club's 4×4 vehicle partner. As first reported by The Lawyer, Spurs are seeking just over £11million from Ineos — £5.5m for missed payments last year, another £5.3milllion for the 2026-27 season, the final year of the original sponsorship deal, as well as £300,000 in interest. In 2024, Ratcliffe's Ineos Group bought a 29 per cent stake in Manchester United, one of Spurs' Premier League rivals and their opponents in the Europa League final on May 21, and it now runs the football operations at the Old Trafford club. Ratcliffe has withdrawn from other sports-related deals, including those with the All Blacks rugby team and Sir Ben Ainslie's America's Cup team. An Ineos statement read: 'We had a contractual right to terminate our partnership contract and in December 2024 exercised that right. 'Like any business, we have to be diligent in how we operate and where we invest marketing budgets. It's completely normal for partnerships to be reviewed on a regular basis, and we've decided that the partnership wasn't working out for us. We have the right to terminate the partnership.'

Revealed: 'How much' Tottenham are suing Man United chief Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos for after multi-million partnership with Ineos ended early
The price that Tottenham are suing Sir Jim Ratcliffe 's Ineos for has been revealed, according to a report. The north London side have lodged a claim against Ineos Automotive, a subsidiary of Ratcliffe's company, after they withdrew early from a sponsorship agreement. In 2022 - and ahead of Ineos's involvement with United which has seen them take a 27.7 per cent stake in the club and control of football operations - they signed a multi-million pound, five-year deal which saw the Ineos Grenadier become Spurs's 'official 4x4 vehicle provider'. Ineos branding was commonplace throughout the deal at the Tottenham Stadium on both dugouts and advertisement boards. However, Mail Sport revealed in March that the deal was due to end early following what were described as 'amicable discussions' which would see Ineos pay Spurs a penalty thought to be worth several millions. Now, according to The Telegraph, nearly two weeks after the lawsuit was field at the High Court, it has been revealed how much Daniel Levy's club are looking for. Tottenham are thought to be looking for £11.1million in the lawsuit, in which they accuse accuse Ineos of breaching a five-year, minimum £17.5 million deal that was signed in 2022. They claim a sum of more than £5m was due to be paid on December 1 last year, but the annual instalment was not. It is also claimed that an inflation-figure of nearly £500,000 on August 16 was also not paid. Spurs are also thought to be claiming a minimum of £5,275,974 in damaged after the deal was cut short with more than two years left on it. They also say they are claiming interest and 'further or other relief as the court thinks fit'. The north London club say they terminated the contract on March 11. An Ineos spokesperson said: 'Ineos Automotive was a partner of Tottenham Hotspur from 2022, expanding on a partnership agreement that Ineos Group had in place with the club since 2020. 'We had a contractual right to terminate our partnership contract and in December 2024 exercised that right.' When news of legal action first emerged, an Ineos spokesperson said: 'Like any business, we have to be diligent in how we operate and where we invest marketing budgets. It's completely normal for partnerships to be reviewed on a regular basis, and we've decided that the partnership wasn't working out for us. We have the right to terminate the partnership.' Ineos became the 4 x 4 partner of Spurs via their Grenadier vehicle back in December 2022 Amid a wide-ranging cost-cutting review at Old Trafford, Ineos have been reducing their sports portfolio, ending a relationship with Sir Ben Ainslie's sailing team and a sponsorship deal with the All Blacks.

Tottenham sue Sir Jim Ratcliffe for £11.1m, new documents reveal
Tottenham Hotspur are suing Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos for more than £11 million, it can be revealed. Almost two weeks after Spurs filed a lawsuit at the High Court against Manchester United co-owner Ratcliffe's Ineos Automotive Limited, Telegraph Sport has obtained the 'particulars of claim' lodged by the club. In it, they accuse Ratcliffe's firm of breaching a five-year, minimum £17.5 million deal it signed in 2022 for Tottenham to promote the Ineos Grenadier as their 'official 4x4 vehicle partner'. The club claim the company failed to pay a £5 million-plus annual instalment due on Dec 1 last year, having also not paid an inflation-related figure of almost £500,000 on Aug 16. Spurs, who say they terminated the contract on Mar 11 as a result, are also claiming a minimum of £5,275,974 in damages after the deal was ended with more than two years left to run. The particulars of claim lays out details of a contract Tottenham say involved annual payments starting at £2.125 million in year one and increasing to £4.6 million in year five, all plus VAT and index-linked to the rate of inflation. Spurs says they are also claiming interest and 'further or other relief as the court thinks fit'. The club declined to comment on their lawsuit. An Ineos spokesperson said: 'Ineos Automotive was a partner of Tottenham Hotspur from 2022, expanding on a partnership agreement that Ineos Group had in place with the club since 2020. 'We had a contractual right to terminate our partnership contract and in December 2024 exercised that right.' When news of the legal action first emerged, Ratcliffe's firm told Telegraph Sport it had exercised 'a contractual right to terminate' its partnership with Tottenham in December. A spokesperson added: 'Like any business, we have to be diligent in how we operate and where we invest marketing budgets. It's completely normal for partnerships to be reviewed on a regular basis, and we've decided that the partnership wasn't working out for us. We have the right to terminate the partnership.' Spurs' claim was lodged less than a month after they beat Ratcliffe's United in the Europa League final to secure a place in the Champions League. They and Ineos have been in partnership since 2020, when the petrochemicals company was named as the club's 'official hand-sanitiser supplier' during the coronavirus crisis. Ineos, however, has been cutting ties with a number of leading sports organisations in recent months, notably Sir Ben Ainslie's sailing team and the All Blacks rugby union team.
