Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton confirmed to miss 2025-26 season with Achilles injury

The post Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton confirmed to miss 2025-26 season with Achilles injury appeared first on ClutchPoints. Tyrese Haliburton suffered a brutal Achilles injury in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. It was a bitter ending for the star point guard and the Indiana Pacers as the franchise lost the championship while Haliburton had to come back from a serious injury. On Monday, reports confirmed he'll be out for the entire 2025-26 season. Advertisement The plan is for the 25-year-old point guard to return after the 2025-26 season. Pacers' president of basketball operations, Kevin Pritchard, confirmed that Tyrese Haliburton will not play next season, while talking with WISH-TV News. Indiana wants to allow Haliburton to fully recover from the injury and will not rush him back onto the court. 'I have no doubt that he will be back better than ever,' said Pritchard. 'The surgery went well… He will not play next year, though. We would not jeopardize that now. Don't get any hopes up that [Haliburton] will play.' This is the news Pacers fans were expecting all along, as Achilles tears typically take a full year to recover from. The good news is that Tyrese Haliburton is still young and should be able to bounce back without a hiccup once he does return. But he'll be sidelined for quite some time before then. Advertisement Tyrese Haliburton's Achilles injury puts Indiana in a weird spot. Coming off a Finals appearance, the franchise must now find a way to address the roster for next season while also thinking about Haliburton's return. The Pacers already lost center Myles Turner in free agency to the Milwaukee Bucks, so it's possible the front office focuses on youth and development next season. That would give Indiana a chance to have a mini-rebuild while Tyrese Haliburton nurses his injury. The franchise could be in a situation where it acquires a talented prospect in next year's NBA Draft while also being in a position to sign an exciting free agent or two this time next year. It might be a long year next season. However, the long-term outlook for the Pacers is still fantastic, especially if Tyrese Haliburton can return to form, as he was one of the most clutch performers in the 2024-25 playoffs. Red Sox All-Star Alex Bregman eyeing return without rehab starts

BOSTON (AP) — Alex Bregman believes he could skip a minor-league rehab assignment and be back in Boston's lineup before the All-Star break. The two-time All-Star third baseman, who has been sidelined since May 24 with a strained right quad, said there's even a chance his return could happen by the end of this week. 'Trending toward a return here pretty quickly,' Bregman said Monday night after Boston's 9-3 win over the Rockies. 'Whether it's the end of this week or first game after the break. One of those two. But hoping it will be the end of this week.' Boston finishes it's three-game series with Colorado on Wednesday, then hosts Tampa Bay for a four-game series Thursday through Sunday to conclude its first-half schedule. Boston had high hopes for Bregman entering the season after he signed as a free agent to a $120 million, three-year deal during the offseason. And he had had been on a torrid pace to start the season, hitting .299 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs before suffering his injury. Monday marked the 40th game he's been sidelined His injury is similar to the one he sustained to his left quad strain in 2021 with Houston, which cost him 58 games. But unlike that injury, Bregman said he is hopeful he can return to action without a stint in the minors Though, he said an ultimate decision will be made after a consultation with the medical and training staff. 'We're still going to talk about it as a group,' Bregman said. 'I think we're going to have another discussion (Tuesday). But I feel like I can go play and get ready to go.' The timing synchs up with Bregman being named to his third All-Star team on Sunday as a reserve. But, he said he doesn't think there's any chance he'd be able to participate. While he said he may make an appearance and take his son to the home run derby, he'll spend the rest of the break maintaining his fitness in preparation for the second half of the season. 'What I need to do is hopefully be back playing by the end of this week and use the All-Star break to continue to build up, work on my leg and make sure that we continue the progression the right way.' ___ AP MLB:

Emotional Tyrese Haliburton Breaks Silence On Achilles Injury In Game 7: "The Frustration Is Unfathomable"

Emotional Tyrese Haliburton Breaks Silence On Achilles Injury In Game 7: "The Frustration Is Unfathomable" originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The NBA world stood silent when Tyrese Haliburton went down screaming in pain during Game 7 of the Finals series against the Thunder. The Pacers fans knew that their title hopes took a major hit, seeing what happened to Haliburton. And they eventually lost the most important game of the season. It was tough to even imagine how terrible Haliburton must be feeling. Advertisement Now, following the gut-wrenching incident, Haliburton has finally broken his silence and penned down an emotional message on social media. "Man. Don't know how to explain it other than shock. Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable. I've worked my whole life to get to this moment, and this is how it ends? Makes no sense. Now that I've gotten surgery, I wish I could count the number of times people will tell me I'm going to 'come back stronger'. What a cliche lol, this shit sucks. My foot feels like dead weight fam. But what's hurting most I think is my mind. Feel like I'm rambling, but I know this is something I'll look back on when I'm through this, as something I'm proud I fought through. It feels good to let this shit out without y'all seeing the kid ugly cry. At 25, I've already learned that God never gives us more than we can handle. I know I'll come out on the other side of this a better man and a better player. And honestly, right now, torn Achilles and all, I don't regret it. I'd do it again, and again after that, to fight for this city and my brothers. For the chance to do something special. Advertisement Indy, I'm sorry. If any fan base doesn't deserve this, it's y'all. But together we are going to fight like hell to get back to this very spot, and get over this hurdle. I don't doubt for a second that y'all have my back, and I hope you guys know that I have yours. I think Kobe said it best when in this same situation. 'There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.' And that's exactly right. I will do everything in my power to get back right. My journey to get to where I am today wasn't by happenstance; I've pushed myself every day to be great. And I will continue to do just that. The most important part of this all is that I'm grateful. I'm grateful for every single experience that's led me here. I'm grateful for all the love from the hoop world. I don't 'have to' go through this; I get to go through this. I'm grateful for the road that lies ahead. Watch how I come back from this. So, give me some time, I'll dust myself off and get right back to being the best version of Tyrese Haliburton. -0 Proverbs 3:5-6 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Caitlin Clark, Lexie Hull, G-Eazy, and other celebrities also showed love to Haliburton in the comments section on Instagram. Advertisement Tyrese Haliburton averaged 17.3 points, 8.6 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in the 23 games he played in the 2025 NBA playoffs. His absence cost the Pacers down the stretch as their failure to run plays resulted in T.J. McConnell needing to carry the offensive load on his shoulders in the third quarter, which was not enough to stop the rampaging from Thunder. The Thunder extended their lead to 22 points early in the fourth quarter, and without Haliburton, it was very tough for the Pacers to gather any momentum to cut down that deficit. Pacers eventually lost the game 91-103. In an unfortunate coincidence, there have been three Achilles injuries in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, all three of them were in the Eastern Conference, and all three players wear the number 0 (Tyrese Haliburton, Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard). Even the Western Conference was riddled with injuries in the Thunder's run to the Finals. The NBA now needs to seriously look into its scheduling, especially in the Playoffs, as many players have criticized it this season. It may be the reason why we saw so many injuries in these Playoffs. Brewers' Brandon Woodruff allows 1 run in six innings for first MLB start since 2023

Pitching in his first game since Sept. 23, 2023, Brandon Woodruff allowed one run and two hits over six innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday. He also notched eight strikeouts. Woodruff, 32, missed four months of the 2023 season due to a subscapular strain in his right shoulder. He returned to make nine starts in August through September, but was shut down before the postseason after reinjuring his shoulder. Following the season, he underwent surgery to repair the anterior capsule that was expected to sideline him for all of 2024. Advertisement The right-hander's return was delayed further when he developed tendinitis in his right ankle during a minor league rehab assignment out of spring training. After recovering and resetting his timetable with another rehab assignment, he suffered another setback when he was hit in the right elbow by a line drive. Once that bruise cleared up, Woodruff made one last rehab start for Triple-A Nashville last Sunday before being scheduled to make his first major-league appearance in 652 days. Coincidentally, the Marlins were the team he faced in his last MLB start. Woodruff threw his first pitch — a 91.1 mph fastball — for a strike, low and in the middle of the zone. Four pitches later, he struck out Xavier Edwards, getting him to swing and miss at a 92.1 mph fastball high and out of the strike zone. Advertisement The seven-year MLB veteran didn't allow a hit or walk, getting three strikeouts through his first two innings. Miami finally broke through when Heriberto Hernández led off the third with a single. Hernández also got the other hit Woodruff allowed, a solo home run in the fifth. Woodruff finished with 70 pitches thrown, 53 of them for strikes. He touched 96 mph on the radar gun on a third-inning strikeout of Dane Myers, showing that his velocity was not an issue. Woodruff was credited with the win in his first appearance in nearly two years. If not for Hernández, he might have pitched a perfect six innings. "Nobody could have predicted six innings of two-hit ball," Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after the game, via Adam McCalvy. "He was sensational" Murphy continued. "Any worries anybody had about this guy being able to pitch in his future or whatever – wow. It just tells you a lot about who this guy is." Woodruff's improves his career record to 47-26 with a 3.08 ERA in 131 appearances (116 starts). He's averaged 10.44 strikeouts per nine innings during his seven MLB seasons. Advertisement Jackson Chourio's two-run shot in the third inning gave Milwaukee an early 2-0 lead. His 15th homer of the season, turned out to be the difference in the game. He drove in all three runs in the Brewers' win, adding an RBI single in the eighth. With the victory, Milwaukee improves to 50-40, 3.5 games out of first place in the NL Central, pending the Chicago Cubs' matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday evening.
