Madani communities to get simplified info within 24 hours after announcements
MELAKA: The nationwide Madani Community will receive simplified explanations of government announcements within 24 hours after they are made, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He said this initiative aims to ensure accurate information reaches grassroots levels in an easily understandable format. 'For technical matters, it may be difficult, but we want the Madani Community to get the simplest explanation,' Fahmi said during the 2025 Peninsular Malaysia Madani Community Retreat, yesterday. The event, held at Mini Stadium Bistari in Ayer Keroh, also marked the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign. Around 2,300 participants from 1,406 Madani Communities attended the retreat. Also present were Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, Senior Division Secretary (Management) of the Ministry of Communications Mazlan Abd Mutalib, and Information Department director-general Julina Johan. Fahmi highlighted that one of the major upcoming announcements is the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), set to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 31. He acknowledged that such plans often contain complex technical details but assured that simplified breakdowns would be provided to Madani Community members for easier dissemination. 'But within 24 hours, the Madani Community will receive simplified explanations and breakdowns so that they can communicate the information in an easy-to-understand way to their respective communities,' he said. Addressing recent political developments, Fahmi dismissed concerns over Anwar's position as Prime Minister following a rally in Kuala Lumpur. He clarified that changing a Prime Minister requires either a parliamentary vote of no confidence or a general election. 'Previously, the Prime Minister had already told (the Opposition) to move a vote of no confidence, but to this day the motion has not been submitted,' he said. - Bernama

Fahmi: Madani communities to receive clear info within 24 hours of govt announcements
MELAKA: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil says the Madani Community nationwide will be given further details on government announcements within 24 hours of their release. He said the initiative aims to ensure accurate information reaches the grassroots in each locality. "For technical matters, it may be difficult, but we want the Madani Community to get the simplest explanation," he said at the 2025 Peninsular Malaysia Madani Community Retreat, held in conjunction with the launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 at Mini Stadium Bistari, Ayer Keroh here last night. The retreat, attended by around 2,300 participants from 1,406 Madani Communities, also saw the presence of Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan. Also present were Senior Division Secretary (Management) of the Communications Ministry, Mazlan Abd Mutalib, and Information Department director-general Julina Johan. Meanwhile, Fahmi said one of the major announcements to be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would be the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) on July 31. He said the tabling of a Malaysia Plan typically involves highly technical details concerning national development, including the construction of hospitals and schools. "But within 24 hours, the Madani Community will receive simplified explanations and breakdowns so that they can communicate the information in an easy-to-understand way to their respective communities. "So this will be a new thing, because I want the Madani Community to grasp and absorb any government announcement quickly," he said. Commenting on the rally held in the capital today, he said it would not affect Anwar's position as Prime Minister. According to Fahmi, to change a Prime Minister, a vote of no confidence must be tabled in Parliament or occur through a general election. "Previously, the Prime Minister had already told (the Opposition) to move a vote of no confidence, but to this day the motion has not been submitted," he said. - BERNAMA

Melaka to install 5 new telco towers for better tourist connectivity
MELAKA: The state government will install five new telecommunication towers in high-traffic tourist areas to improve connectivity and visitor experience. The initiative, announced by State Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, is part of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's (MCMC) Universal Service Provision (USP) programme. The towers will be built in Kampung Kuala Linggi, Kampung Paya Lebar, Jonker Street, Taman Botanikal Ayer Keroh, and Pulau Besar. Melaka ICT Holdings Sdn Bhd has been appointed to handle the construction. Fairul Nizam revealed the plan during the Melaka State Legislative Assembly session at Seri Negeri, responding to a query from Kerk Chee Yee (PH–Ayer Keroh) regarding internet quality improvements in tourist-heavy zones. Since 2022, MCMC has audited 717 locations statewide, including 25 tourist spots, in preparation for Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024). The audits led to 48 Compliance Notices and 34 Commission Directives issued to service providers failing to meet required standards. 'Five directives were not complied with, resulting in civil penalties against the telcos involved,' Fairul Nizam said. Service providers were also mandated to submit short- and long-term solutions to address connectivity issues. This effort has reduced public complaints received by MCMC, dropping from 1,422 in 2022 to 1,243 in 2023, and further to 355 as of 2024. - Bernama
