Form Four student dies in Shah Alam crash, another injured after motorcycle hits divider
SHAH ALAM, July 5 — A Form Four student was killed while another sustained injury after the motorcycle they were riding lost control and crashed into a road divider at Persiaran Sukan, Section 13 here at 9.45pm yesterday. Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed the accident occurred when the two male students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seksyen 9 were riding near Ramly Halal Mart in Section 13 and allegedly lost control of the motorcycle. 'The motorcycle is believed to have struck the road divider, causing both the rider and the pillion passenger to be thrown onto the roadway,' he said in a statement today. The rider suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the pillion passenger sustained neck injuries and leg wounds. He was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police probe damage to seven cars parked near Glenmarie LRT station
SHAH ALAM, June 27 — Police have received seven reports from motorists whose cars were damaged while parked near the Glenmarie Light Rail Transit (LRT) station here, allegedly by a passing heavy vehicle yesterday. District police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said investigations revealed that the incident, which occurred at around 2.10pm, happened when the owners had parked their cars along the roadside to take the LRT to work. He said the owners were horrified to find their vehicles damaged in various parts upon returning to the LRT station. 'As of 4 pm this afternoon (Thursday), the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Shah Alam police headquarters has received seven police reports related to the incident. 'The investigating officer is sourcing for closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the nearby areas to identify the vehicle (or party) responsible and the case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959,' he said in a statement today.
