Deputies suspended after video shows them repeatedly punching bar patron

Two Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies have been placed on administrative leave after a video circulating on social media shows them subduing a man with force in the parking lot of a local bar. Sheriff Stitch Guillory said the deputies responded to multiple calls at the bar during the early morning hours of June 21 regarding fights in the parking lot. While attempting to disperse a crowd of people 'loitering in the parking lot,' the deputies 'encountered a man who was told multiple times to leave the property,' Guillory said in a Facebook posting Friday afternoon. Patrons of the bar who remained in the parking lot during the encounter recorded video of the incident that shows one deputy sitting on the man as he lies on his side in the parking lot. Two other deputies are crouched on either side of the man. At one point, all three appear to punch the man multiple times as a patron screams out, 'police brutality.' Two other deputies and a member of the bar's security team stand in front and on the side of the man as the punching continues. Guillory said the incident 'occurred as deputies attempted to take him into custody.' 'This incident was forwarded to our Internal Affairs Division earlier this week, prior to the video being released on social media, for a full investigation,' Guillory said. 'Internal Affairs is reviewing the totality of the situation to ensure our deputies acted appropriately and in accordance with CPSO policies and procedures.' Guillory said two of the deputies have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. 'Being placed on leave does not imply wrongdoing,' Guillory said. 'If the investigation determines any policy violations or wrongdoing occurred, appropriate action will be taken.'

Casualty declares major incident as first look is revealed

A major incident is declared in tomorrow's episode of Casualty, as an ambulance crashes right into the ED. The instalment will be the final part of the show's latest boxset, which is called Internal Affairs. In the spotlight this mini-series have been characters including Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari), Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) and new Clinical Lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix). Rida faced a horrific ordeal at work a few weeks ago, when she was sexually assaulted by her colleague Mr Whitelaw (Robert Bathurst). The nurse attempted to record a confession from Russell, but he worked out what she was doing and pulled her hijab from her, another ordeal that left Rida terrified. This violation was discovered by Flynn, who had walked in on Russell and Rida shortly after it happened. Complex Flynn Byron made quite the entrance at the start of this boxset, as he was involved in an RTC. Gaining the respect of his colleagues was very important to Flynn but he had a battle with Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) in particular, who put Flynn in his bad books after Tariq Hussein (Manpreet Bachu) left. More Trending Last week, the ED staff gathered together to celebrate Faith and Iain Dean's (Michael Stevenson) wedding. After the happiness comes drama though, as they'll be forced to act fast when an ambulance crashes through the entrance of the hospital. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Cop on NYC Mayor's Security Detail Reportedly Linked to Crypto Torture Case

The story of the Italian tourist allegedly kidnapped by crypto businessmen keeps taking wild turns—the latest potentially implicating New York law enforcement in the ordeal. According to a report from local NBC affiliate station News 4 New York, two NYPD officers, including one who was serving as security detail for Mayor Eric Adams, have been linked to two of the people charged for their involvement in the kidnapping case. According to the report, a detective tasked with protecting Mayor Adams was working a private security gig on the side. As a part of that job, the detective worked security at the Prince Street townhouse in the Nolita neighborhood of New York City—the same place where an Italian tourist was allegedly held captive and beaten for over two weeks. He is also believed to have picked up an Italian tourist from the airport earlier this month, and there is currently an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation into whether the detective transported the tourist who was kidnapped to the townhouse. The report did not clarify the other officer's alleged involvement, but two officers have reportedly been placed on modified duty following the details of their potential links to the case surfacing. At issue isn't the fact that the officers worked an off-duty job—that's apparently pretty standard, per News 4, though it's not clear whether the NYPD approved this particular side gig. What is of particular interest is just how much these cops knew about what they were potentially involved in. What happened, either under the officers' noses or not, was that an Italian tourist was allegedly lured to the townhouse on May 6 by two cryptocurrency businessmen, who allegedly tortured the man for 17 days to get him to give up the password to his stash of Bitcoin. During the time that he was held captive, he was allegedly shocked with electrical wires, hit with a gun, forced to smoke from a crack pipe, dangled over a railing five stories high, sawed on his leg, and urinated on. The tourist managed to escape when his attackers went to retrieve his computer and steal his Bitcoin, at which point he flagged down a police officer on the street. (Luckily, he didn't run into one of the cops who may have been involved.) When police entered the townhouse, they reportedly found a slew of evidence including cocaine, a saw, chicken wire, body armor, and night-vision goggles. They also found Polaroid photos of the victim with a gun pointed at his head, which was probably seen as strong evidence corroborating his story. Two men have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping: John Woeltz, a 37-year-old man who has been identified as the 'crypto king of Kentucky,' and William Duplessie, a 33-year-old Florida man and crypto investor who turned himself into police.
