Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been awarded the 2025 International Safety Award by the British Safety Council, recognising its outstanding performance in managing health and safety across its worksites. The award, received at the 'Distinction' level, reflects RTA's strong commitment to protecting its workforce and promoting a safe, healthy, and secure working environment. The British Safety Council's International Safety Award honours organisations worldwide that have demonstrated excellence in preventing workplace injuries, managing occupational health risks, and promoting overall employee well-being. In this year's edition, 874 organisations from 45 countries applied for the award, with RTA standing out for its integrated health and safety management systems. RTA's award-winning submission showcased a series of initiatives aimed at improving occupational safety and supporting employee well-being. These efforts are aligned with the RTA Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which prioritises safety and security across mobility systems, asset protection, institutional resilience, and staff well-being. The achievement highlights RTA's status as a global leader in workplace safety and underscores the authority's proactive approach in embedding health and safety considerations into every decision, project, and policy. The distinction also reflects the strong culture of well-being and mental health support fostered across RTA's operations. Celebrating its 67th year, the International Safety Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions in the field of occupational health and safety. Indian Businesses Win Prestigious British Safety Council International Safety Awards

British Safety Council recognised 443 Indian companies as winners of its prestigious annual International Safety Awards for 2025, at a gala celebratory dinner yesterday at Hotel JW Marriott at Sahar in Mumbai. Of the winners, 117 Indian organisations were awarded a Distinction, 199 organisations were awarded a Merit, and 127 organisations achieved a Pass. The winners span numerous sectors with significant representation from the construction, manufacturing, oil, gas, mining, and power and utility sectors. Now in their 67th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations worldwide. During the previous calendar year, they have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme's independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work. In 2025, 789 organisations won an International Safety Award. Winners were drawn from 45 countries worldwide. 212 organisations were awarded a Distinction, 371 were awarded a Merit, and 206 achieved a Pass. The complete list of winners can be seen here. Announcing the winners, Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said, "Sincerest congratulations to all organisations, individuals, and teams that have won a prestigious International Safety Award. Our winners have clearly made substantial and ongoing efforts to protect and improve the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone in their organisations. All the winners and those who were shortlisted have gone the extra mile to dedicate additional time, resources, and commitment to ensuring their work, teams, and workplaces remained healthy and safe during 2024. I would also like to thank all the organisations who took the time to apply for these awards and our panel of judges who volunteered to adjudicate them." MIA receives Int'l Safety Award

The airport's application scored an impressive 51 out of 55, reflecting its commitment to safety excellence. The airport is among the 117 Indian sites spread across businesses that were ranked in the highest distinction category. The International Safety Award, presented by the British Safety Council, recognises organisations that demonstrated a strong dedication to maintaining high standards of health and safety. MIA's achievement in the distinction category highlights its continuous efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers, employees, and stakeholders, stated MIA's spokesperson. In addition to this accomplishment, the British Safety Council also recognised MIA as the sector best in transportation or logistics in the India Auto entry section of the awards. This recognition further underscores the airport's commitment to operational excellence and its role as a leader in the transportation and logistics sector.
