Announcement of Investment Participation in Tyre Pyrolysis Recycling Business in Thailand

HANWA THAILAND CO., LTD. ('HANWA THAILAND'), a subsidiary of HANWA CO., LTD. ('HANWA'), has made a partial investment in PYRO ENERGIE CO., LTD. ('PYRO'), a tyre pyrolysis recycling company based in Thailand. Currently, a huge amount of used tyres and off-spec products from the tyre manufacturing process, are generated throughout the world. This has led to increasingly serious environmental issues caused by the illegal dumping and landfilling of waste tyres. While HANWA Group currently supplies tyre chips produced by shredding waste tyres as a low-impact energy source to industrial users in Japan, pyrolysis has become the dominant recycling method in many overseas markets. This process is decarbonization of waste tyres in an oxygen-free environment to produce valuable byproducts such as pyrolysis oil and carbon residue which can be reused not only as fuel but also as raw materials for new tyre production. Through this investment in PYRO, HANWA Group aims to enhance the value of pyrolysis derived products and build a global supply chain in partnership with tyre manufacturers. Our products will be supplied to the chemical industry, synthetic rubber sector and tyre manufacturers, contributing significantly to the advancement of a sustainable circular economy. HANWA and HANWA THAILAND have obtained the 'ISCC PLUS' and 'ISCC EU' certifications, which are part of the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system.

Innovations Driving the Next Wave in Amphoteric Surfactants

Surface-active agents called amphoteric surfactants are quite adaptable in various formulations. They can carry both positive and negative charges depending on the solution's pH. The amphoteric surfactants is growing, driven by demand for eco-friendly and gentle ingredients in personal care and cleaning products. Their versatility, along with rising hygiene awareness, helps boost this growth. However, high costs and competition from traditional surfactants might hold back expansion. Key Growth Drivers and Opportunities Sustainability Trend: The amphoteric surfactants market is looking pretty promising, especially since it fits right into the growing push for sustainability. These surfactants provide non-toxic, biodegradable, and eco-friendly options compared to traditional chemicals. They also have a low environmental footprint and tend to be gentle on the skin. This makes them a good match for green chemistry efforts. This makes them especially appealing to eco-conscious consumers. As regulations become stricter and the demand for clean-label products rises, businesses that adopt sustainable amphoteric surfactants can gain a real competitive edge. They also get access to new markets and can boost brand loyalty. Challenges The amphoteric surfactants faces a few notable challenges. Production costs tend to run higher than those for traditional surfactants, and raw materials can be hard to source. Manufacturing these surfactants involves complex processes, which complicates things further. Plus, many consumers in developing regions just aren't familiar with amphoteric surfactants. Innovation and Expansion At in-cosmetics Worldwide, Nouryon Unveils a Biodegradable Hair Care Surfactant In April 2025, Armocare Aqua 12 surfactant was introduced by Nouryon at in-cosmetics Global in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. For high-performing hair care formulations, this novel product is a biodegradable hair conditioning agent free of quaternary ammonium compounds, or non-quat. Recently, Nouryon's manufacturing facility in Itupeva, Brazil, certified Armocare Aqua 121 to the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS level. Solvay Completes Sale of Amphoteric Surfactant Business in North America and Europe In May 2021, Solvay declared that it has successfully sold its amphoteric surfactant business in North America and Europe to OpenGate Capital, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm. The three primary manufacturing facilities for the amphoteric product lines University Park, Illinois, USA; Genthin, Germany; Halifax, UK; and a tolling agreement in Turkey are included in the transaction. In order to guarantee a smooth transition and little inconvenience to customers, the agreement also contains tolling and service agreements between Solvay and OpenGate. Inventive Sparks, Expanding Markets The primary participants in the amphoteric surfactants market include BASF, CLARIANT, Alfa Chemistry, Nouryon, and many others. There is strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and marketing by these companies. They are investing heavily in research and development to formulate high performance, environmentally friendly formulations. This is in response to growing awareness among consumers about the importance of sustainable and biodegradable ingredients.
