MANAMA, July 19: Kuwait's national volleyball team will take on Saudi Arabia today in its second match of the inaugural West Asia Men's Volleyball Championship, being held at Isa bin Rashid Hall in Bahrain. Also in Group A, Qatar will take on Oman, while Group B features two matchups: the UAE vs. Jordan and Bahrain vs. Lebanon. The tournament officially began late last night, with Kuwait facing Oman in its opening fixture. In preparation for the championship, the Kuwaiti squad held an overseas training camp in Tunisia, where it played four friendlies—winning two and losing two. Under the leadership of Argentine head coach Julián Álvarez and assistant coach Zaid Al-Kazemi, the team aims to deliver strong performances and secure a spot in the semifinals. Kuwait heads to Bahrain for inaugural West Asian Volleyball Championship
KUWAIT CITY, July 16: The Kuwaiti national volleyball team wrapped up its training camp in Tunisia and is scheduled to arrive in Bahrain today to take part in the inaugural West Asian Volleyball Championship, which begins tomorrow and runs through July 26. During the camp, Kuwait played three friendly matches — securing victories against Tunisia and Algeria, while losing their final match against Libya 3-1. The training camp successfully achieved its main objectives, particularly improving player readiness and fostering on-court cohesion. Under the guidance of Argentine head coach Julian Alvarez and assistant coach Zaid Al-Kazemi, the technical staff focused on boosting team chemistry, tactical understanding, and building the experience of the squad, which includes several promising young players. Qatari beach volleyball duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan achieves 5th place in world rankings
The Qatari men's beach volleyball team, led by Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, made a new achievement by advancing to fifth place in the world rankings issued by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), up from seventh place previously. The Qatari team finished fifth with 5,720 points, after participating in 10 tournaments this season, most notably its recent gold medal win at the Gstaad World Championship (Elite 16), which concluded last Sunday in Switzerland, adding 1,200 points to their tally. The Qatari duo continue to perform strongly this season as part of their commitment to being among the world's elite teams and preparing for upcoming competitions, most notably the World Championship and the Olympic Games. Norwegian duo Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sorum maintained their lead in the world rankings, taking first place with 8,560 points. Argentinian duo Nicolas Capogrosso and Tomas Capogrosso took Second place for the first time with 6,520 points. Dutch duo Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot finished Third with 5,920 points, ahead of Swedish duo David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, who dropped to fourth place with 5,780 points. This ranking of the Qatari national team reflects the development of beach volleyball in Qatar and its ability to compete in the strongest international arenas.

Al Rayyan crowned 2025 Asian volleyball champions
TOKYO: Al Rayyan was crowned Asian volleyball champions after a deserved 3-0 victory over Japan's Osaka Bluteon in the final match of the AVC Men's Champions Leagueheld in Tokyo. Al Rayyan dominated the match and achieved a major accomplishment to add to its impressive continental and international record. Al Rayyan officially qualified for the 2025 FIVB World Club Volleyball Championship to be held at the end of this year under the auspices of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Al Rayyan secured their place in the final after a (22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 17-15) victory over Japan's Suntory in the semifinals.
