Phillips tallied eight points in 28 games with Rockford last season before traveling to the Moose, where he added eight more points in 39 games, including three goals. In his 238-game veteran minor league career, he has tallied 26 goals, 87 points, and 234 penalty minutes. With training camp soon to begin, Phillips will have to fight for his spot on the Jets' highly contested defensive depth chart. Right now, the No. 8 position is open, and there will certainly be a few young defensemen fighting for a chance to take NHL minutes.
