Last Updated: Ishan Kishan and Mohammad Abbas were seen celebrating a wicket together in a rare India-Pakistan moment, causing a stir online. Star India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was seen celebrating a wicket with Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas, in a rare India-Pakistan moment which has caused quite a stir on the internet, with the relations between the two nations at their lowest after the war-like situation last month. After a long stint with Hampshire, Abbas moved to Nottinghamshire for this season, and that confirmed he would share the dressing room with Ishan, who agreed to take part in a bid to earn his place back in the national team in all three formats. In the clip that went viral on social media, Ishan and Abbas combined to dismiss Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth for a golden duck that gave Nottinghamshire the perfect start to defending their first-innings total of 487. Abbas dished out a length delivery round the wicket to Lyth, angling it down to the off stump. Watch the video here: Earlier in the game, Nottinghamshire scored 487 in the first innings, where Ishan sent a reminder to Ajit Agarkar & Co. with his innings of 87 off 98. Abbas' wicket gave Nottinghamshire a perfect start, before Finlay Bean stabilised with a 99-run partnership with James Wharton en route to his unbeaten innings of 86. Notably, just six times in history have an Indian and a Pakistani cricketer shared the dressing room in County Cricket. The first instance was in the 1970s, when Bishan Singh Bedi was part of the Northamptonshire team alongside Mushtaq Mohammad and Sarfaraz Nawaz. After that, Zaheer Khan and Azhar Mahmood played together for Surrey in 2004, Harbhajan Singh and Azhar Mahmood in 2005 and Anil Kumble and Mohammad Akram in 2006. Signed on a short-term contract for two Championship games, Ishan has stepped in for South Africa's Kyle Verreynne, who is on Test duty in Zimbabwe. For India, Ishan has featured in two Tests till now, with a half-century to his name, but his reputation rests on his attacking white-ball exploits. Ishan's county appearance comes after a productive Indian Premier League season with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he struck 354 runs at a healthy average of 35.4 and a strike rate above 152.

In the video that went viral on social media, Abbas and Ishan combined to dismiss Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth for a golden duck that gave Nottinghamshire the perfect start to defending their first-innings total of 487. Earlier in the match, the hosts scored 487 runs in the first innings where Ishan sent a reminder to the BCCI selection committee with his knock of 87 off 98. Four other fifty-plus scores were witnessed - captain Haseeb Hameed (52), Ben Slater (96), Liam Patterson-White (87) and Dillon Pennington (61). Abbas' wicket gave the hosts a perfect start, before Finlay Bean stabilised with a 99-run stand alongside James Wharton en route to his unbeaten knock of 86. Yorkshire ended Day 2 at 154 for three, trailing by 333 runs. Why was this a rare moment? Only six times in history have an Indian and a Pakistani player shared the dressing room in county cricket. The first of its kind happened in the 1970s, when Bishan Singh Bedi was part of the Northamptonshire squad alongside Mushtaq Mohammad and Sarfraz Nawaz. The turn of the century saw three other instances, all for Surrey - Zaheer Khan and Azhar Mahmood in 2004, Harbhajan Singh and Azhar Mahmood/Mohammad Akram in 2005 and Anil Kumble and Azhar Mahmood/Mohammad Akram in 2006. In 2022, Cheteshwar Pujara and Mohammad Rizwan were part of the Sussex outfit.
