Ogier wins double gold at bowls for Guernsey

Guernsey bowler Rose Ogier has won two gold medals at the 2025 Island Games in took women's singles gold before teaming up with Julie Williams to win the women's pairs title - upgrading the silver she won at pairs two years ago. Ogier, who has competed at World Championships, Commonwealth Games and European Championships, won four of her five singles group matches to take the title on set difference from Orkney's Isla Rendall. She and Williams also won four of their five pairs games as they again denied Orkney by set difference as Elizabeth McConnachie and Ruth Rendall had to settle for silver. "It's awesome, I'm over the moon," Ogier told BBC Radio Guernsey."I thought I'd fluffed it because I played a pretty poor first set this morning and I only managed to draw in the second set," she said after her only singles loss to Orkney's Isla Rendall. "I thought I'd blown my chances, but luckily I've managed to get it on shot difference, which is a bit of a sneaky way to do it, but that's the rules of the game and I'm absolutely overjoyed."I'm so emotional about it because it is a big deal, it's been a fantastic tournament, everyone's been awesome here and the green's been lovely to play on."
