Sabrina Carpenter Unveils Alternate ‘Man's Best Friend' Cover — and This Time, It's ‘Approved by God'

After finding herself in inexplicably hot water over the cheeky cover to her upcoming new album Man's Best Friend, pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter is sharing a new version of the album art — and she says it got the stamp of approval from more than just her label. On Wednesday (June 25), Carpenter announced that she was selling signed copies of her new album (due out on Aug. 29 via Island Records), some of which featured a toned-down version of the LP's previously revealed artwork. The new black-and-white cover shows Carpenter with her hand placed on a suited man's shoulder as she peers off-camera. '& here is a new alternate cover approved by God.' The switched-up photo comes after Carpenter received a wave of backlash after unveiling the original artwork for the album, which featured her on her hands and knees touching a man's leg, while the faceless individual held up a fistful of her hair. Some critics called out the cover's provocative and sexualized imagery, with a few going as far as to claim that the image was anti-feminist. But plenty of others defended the Man's Best Friend artwork as another extension of the singer's well-established brand of sex positivity. Even legendary singer-songwriter Carly Simon weighed in on the controversy, saying that the artwork looked 'tame' to her. 'She's not doing anything outrageous … There have been far flashier covers than hers,' Simon said in an interview with Rolling Stone. 'I don't know why she's getting such flak.' The album itself is already off to a good start, with lead single 'Manchild' earning Carpenter her second No. 1 hit on the June 21-dated Billboard Hot 100 and becoming her first song to debut at the top of the chart. 'I can't tell you how much this means to me!!!!' she wrote on Instagram after news broke of her No. 1 debut. 'This song makes me so happy. Thank you eternally for listening.' Sabrina Carpenter's ‘Manchild' Debuts at Number One on Hot 100

Sabrina Carpenter has returned to the top of the charts with her latest single 'Manchild' debuting at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. 'Manchild' is Carpenter's first song to debut atop the Hot 100, and her second Number One overall after 'Please Please Please' spent a week there almost exactly one year ago (June 29, 2024 to be exact). It's also Carpenter's fourth song to crack the Top 10, along with 'Taste' (which peaked at Number Two) and 'Espresso' (which peaked at Number Three). The album will be Carpenter's seventh studio album overall and comes on the heels of her 2024 Grammy-winning breakthrough Short n' Sweet. In her new Rolling Stone cover story, Carpenter spoke about her decision to follow-up Short n' Sweet so quickly, especially considering artists usually take a couple of years between albums (Carpenter is still technically touring in support of her last album). 'If I really wanted to, I could have stretched out Short n' Sweet much, much longer,' she said. 'But I'm at that point in my life where I'm like, 'Wait a second, there's no rules.' If I'm inspired to write and make something new, I would rather do that. Why would I wait three years just for the sake of waiting three years? It's all about what feels right. I'm learning to listen to that a lot more, instead of what is perceived as the right or wrong move.' As for those tour dates, Carpenter has a handful of festival dates scheduled for this summer and fall, including headlining spots at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival. She'll kick off another North American tour Oct. 25 in Pittsburgh, with the run wrapping Nov. 23 in Los Angeles. Lola Young Sets Release Date for New Album ‘I'm Only F-cking Myself'

Last year, Lola Young released her second studio album, This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway, which housed her breakthrough single 'Messy.' Now, the British pop artist is gearing up to return with another full-length LP with another pointed title. I'm Only Fucking Myself will arrive via Island Records on Sept. 19. I'm Only Fucking Myself kicked off with the release of 'One Thing' last month. 'I wanted to make a song and music video that is thought-provoking and highlights sex being both a fun and light thing, not always meaningful, as well as showing how gender roles can be reversed,' Young said at the time. In a separate Instagram post, she assured fans that 'the album that is coming soon has some deeeeeep ones tho don't you worry.' 'The new album is going to be a lot more about my personal struggle and less so about love,' she said. 'There's some real bangers on there. I can't say too much, but I can say that this feels like a step up.' In November, Young will take the album on the road with a run of shows across North America. 'Can't wait to be back in the room with you all,' she wrote on Instagram. Her audience has expanded significantly since This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway, but she's hopeful that she can still connect to everyone in person and in the music. 'I think that's the whole purpose of why I make music, is to make people feel like they belong somewhere,' Young told Rolling Stone. 'That's what I want people to feel. I understand them, and millions of other people do, too.' Best of Rolling Stone Sly and the Family Stone: 20 Essential Songs The 50 Greatest Eminem Songs All 274 of Taylor Swift's Songs, Ranked

28 Years Later...the child star of the original film, who played Brendan Gleeson's daughter, is unrecognisable after she quit the world of acting

Megan Burns was just 16 years old when she played Hannah, the daughter of Brendan Gleeson 's character Frank, in the 2002 film 28 Days Later. However, the actress, now 38, looks complete different now after leaving the world of acting soon after the movie in favour of a quirky career change. Megan went into music under the stage name Betty Curse and adopted a punk princess image, sporting skeleton-themed corsets and posing for snaps in graveyards. As Betty Curse, she released music under Island Records and her debut album Here Lies Betty Curse dropped in 2006. Now a mother-of-one, Megan welcomed her 12-year-old daughter Scarlett in 2012. The star, who is known for songs like Girl With Yellow Hair and Excuse All The Blood, saw her last released record in 2007 and she worked as an artist manager, taking a break from her persona. However last year, Megan unearthed Betty Curse as she fired up an Instagram account to reconnect with fans and sell vintage CDs of her albums she had recently discovered. Before her breakout role in 28 Days Later, Megan was cast in the 2000 film Liam, for which she won the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival for her performance. Her most recent acting role was in a short film in 2018 called Intruders, directed by Naeem Mahmood. According to her Instagram, Megan is now an 'artist manager'. She appeared to take a long break out of performing as Betty Curse but returned to social media in September to announce she would be selling old CDs signed with her autograph. Megan also appeared to tease a wider return return to music at the time as she closed the message with : 'Who knows what the future holds?' She wrote: 'Greetings Darlings, apologies for my long absence, I found myself involved in the activity of living and lost track of time. How quickly it passes when one must remember to breathe and feed. 'Whilst preparing the lair for the Halloween season, I discovered a box of recorded treasures, compact discs from ancient times and I thought perhaps they would be of interest to you, my pretties? 'Requests have previously been received for such relics, therefore I have set up shop on ye olde web, sales from my crypt… 'For the time being products are limited to a small number of CDs with my scrawl, but the thought has crossed one's mind to add various other notable trinkets from my personal collection, who knows what the future holds? ✨✨.' Then in October, she popped up again to give fans a look at the album covers she shot for her debut album, revealing one that was not used by the label. And later that month she shared a behind the scenes look at filming for her Excuse All The Blood music video, directed by Corin Hardy and photographed by Alex Lake from Two Short Days. The sequel to 28 Days Later, called 28 Weeks Later, was released just five years after the original - in 2007. But fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting another instalment, which has finally come this year. Set for release in the UK and US on Friday, 28 Years Later stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O'Connell and child actor Alfie Williams. Critics have weighed in on Alex Garland and Danny Boyle 's new zombie horror movie ahead of its release. A follow-up to the 'great' 2002 film 28 Days Later, Boyle and Garland assembled a star-studded cast. Two decades on from the original which saw a deadly virus plague London, the new movie finds a group of survivors living on the secluded island of Lindisfarne, where the virus is yet to reach. Danny and Alex's new project has received largely positive, if sometimes mixed, reviews from critics following early screenings. Rotten Tomatoes have handed the movie an impressive 94 percent critic approval rating after rounding up reviews from more than 91 film reviewers.

Catfish and the Bottlemen at Fairview Park: Everything you need to know

Multi-Platinum-selling, BRIT Award-winning band Catfish and The Bottlemen are playing Dublin's Fairview Park on Monday. After signing to Island Records in 2014 after years of touring, their debut LP The Balcony surged into the UK Top 10 and helped them scoop British Breakthrough Act at the BRITs before scoring their landmark Number 1 album with The Ride. Advertisement Since then, they have amassed over one billion streams, two million album sales, and are closing in on 10 million single sales. On stage, Van McCann possesses a magnetic energy and is considered one of modern rock's great live frontmen. In the five years alone since releasing their debut album, they have sold over half a million tickets and have played to over two million people. So if you are headed to Fairview Park to see the band live, keep reading to find out everything you need to know. When and where is it on? Catfish and the Bottlemen play Fairview Park in Dublin on Monday, June 16th. Advertisement Are there any tickets left? Thankfully for you, some tickets are still available on from €67.40. Don't forget to download the concert tickets onto your phone in advance of the concert, just in case any issues arise around internet connection at Fairview Park. Screenshots will not work on the day as Ticketmaster use live or dynamic barcodes that update regularly. Who are the support acts? Scottish alternative rock band Twin Atlantic have been announced as the support act. When should I arrive? Doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 8pm. Stage times have not yet been announced but we will update here when we have them, and keep an eye on Catfish and the Bottlemen's social media in the meantime. Advertisement How do I get there and home again? Promoters have encouraged concert-goers to plan and book return travel arrangements in advance, allowing at least an extra two hours travel time to and from the venue. Because traffic delays are inevitable, it is also encouraged to walk, cycle, use public transport and private coach services. Worth noting though that promoters don't operate transport to and from the venue, so attendees must arrange that themselves in advance. By Dart: The nearest Dart station to Fairview Park is Clontarf Road Dart Station. By Bus: Dublin Bus numbers 14, 15, 27a and 27b run from Eden Quay to near the venue, and so do bus numbers 6, H1, H2, H3, and 130 from Abbey Street Lower, while from Talbot Street, you can get the 42 and 43 buses. You can get off any of them at the Fairview Park bus stop. However, for operational reasons, bus stops 519 and 616 will be closed from 10pm until 11pm on concert days. Advertisement By foot: If you want to walk to Fairview Park from Dublin city centre, it should take less than an hour, if you are so inclined. By car: Concert-goers are advised not to travel to the event by car, as there is no public parking at the event. Promoters have asked attendees not to park illegally or in residential areas and to use public transport instead. However, if you must drive to Dublin for the concert, it would be worth looking into park and ride options or asking someone you know who lives in the area in advance of the concert if you could park your car at their house for the evening. There will be signs on approach to the concert, which will take place at the Annesley Bridge end of Fairview Park. What are they expected to play? Of course, you never know what a band will play until they stand on stage on the night, but here is a snippet of what fans can expect from a concert they played in Cardiff last year: Longshot Advertisement Kathleen Soundcheck Pacifier Twice Fallout Conversation Anything Business Sidetrack Homesick 2all Rango Outside Fluctuate 7 (Extended) Cocoon (Extended) What's the story with security? No queuing is allowed before the gates open, and concert-goers are advised to allow sufficient time to travel to the event and pass through security checks. Anyone who does turn up early will be turned away. Under 16s must be accompanied to the concert and at all times by someone over 25, and strict age monitoring will be in place. Unaccompanied people under 16 will be refused entry to the event without refund. The promoters have recommended that nobody under the age of five attend. No camping or collapsible chairs are permitted on site. Security checks will be in operation, and everyone will be subject to a search as a condition of entry. Additional searches may take place once inside the venue. No bags larger than A4 size are allowed inside the venue, and attendees are strongly advised not to bring big bags or backpacks as they may experience delays or be refused entry. There will be no storage facilities on site. Any items left at entrances or in surrounding areas will be removed and disposed of accordingly. Other items not allowed into the grounds include, but are not exclusive tlimitedflags bigger than A3, glass, cans, umbrellas, alcohol, e-scooters and e-bikes, and professional cameras and audio recording equipment. There are no re-admissions to the concert, either, so if you leave, you can't come back in, and don't rush to the exit after the concert. Remember too, that Fairview Park is a residential area, so respect the local community by not littering, not engaging in anti-social behaviour and by not parking illegally. There's a lot to be said for being sound. What's the weather giving? Monday looks set to be mainly dry, with a mix of clouds and sunny spells. Temperatures are expected to be between 15 and 20 degrees with some southwest winds. There is a slight chance of a bit of rain in the evening time though, so bear that in mind. Bear in mind, though, that we are in Ireland, and that Fairview Park is a standing only venue, with all concerts taking place outdoors on grass under canvas. So, check the weather forecast on the day, look outside, and dress accordingly for Irish weather - think boots or runners, layers, raincoats/ponchos and sun cream, but remember, no umbrellas.
